DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) — It's been one week since the internet and cable provider Home Telecom had a cyber attack, called a Domain Name System (DNS) Attack, causing people in Dorchester and Berkeley counties to go days without internet.
However, Home Telecom officials stated they've restored the network, meaning customer's internet should be back up and running. If customers still have issues, they will need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

According to Home Telecom, those issues most likely don't stem from the cyber attack.
CEO William Helmly said customer information is secure and was not impacted at all. He also stated he's sorry for the lack of service and the frustration for so many customers.

"I apologize to our customers for what they've gone through," Helmly said. "We've been in business for a hundred years and been in the fiber business for 20 something years and this is, by far, the worst outage we've ever experienced."
