BOLTON – Grant funds will help the town make improvements at a long-targeted intersection.

A $938,000 Massworks grant was awarded for the Intersection Safety Improvements at Route 117, Forbush Mill Road and Green Road.

“Each of our grant awards are the result of a team effort led by a specific member of my staff,” Town Administrator Don Lowe said.

“In this case the effort was managed and led by Randy Heglin, who did an outstanding job of leading us through this lengthy process,” Lowe said, noting Heglin had been DPW director for about a year. “He has already done some excellent work and this certainly adds to it.”

The application had not been successful last year, but was resubmitted with a plan in place, adding to the criteria that helps award point for projects. Selectmen had solicited public input on the project, adding to the completeness of the application.
