January news from
Doncaster Music Education Hub

Hello teachers,

We hope you have had a great start to the new year!

We have lots to share with you, including brilliant free resources for you to use in the classroom, an amazing opportunity for young musicians to learn about careers in the live music industry and this term's programme of teacher CPD sessions. Due to our Music Education Hub funding from Arts Council England, we are also able to offer you a really rich and high quality programme of CPD - all for free.

If you need support with training, music strategies, resources or teaching and would like to speak to a member of our staff directly, please contact paul.davies@doncaster.gov.uk or call 07731949223. This newsletter is created by darts as joint lead partner of the Doncaster Music Education Hub.

Find out about opportunities on offer to you & your pupils via this newsletter, visit our website or follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or need help to access anything.
Free music groups for KS2 musicians
Band Basics is starting this week and places are still available to jam with our musicians! These sessions are for young musicians aged 8-12. Places are limited so booking is essential. We also have DJ Basics coming up after the half term, for any budding DJ's!
Fantastic free CPD opportunities
From exploring the Model Music Curriculum to teaching songs from other cultures, we have a fantastic programme of free teacher CPD available this term. For more information and to book your place, visit our website here.
Sing Out update
Our Sing Out composition workshops are now fully booked and we are having a wonderful time writing songs with the schools we have visited so far! More details on how to book for the concerts will be released at the end of the month.
Dive into Rock and Pop with new Listening Challenges
The latest block of Listening Challenges is now available. You can use these challenges in the classroom or at home to engage and inspire children, and they link in with the new model music curriculum. Explore the challenges here.
Live music opportunity for secondary musicians
Stage Invasion supports young people into the live music industry with a work placement platform, performance opportunities and the option to complete a Bronze Arts Award. Details of how your young musicians can get involved are available here.
