Community organisation Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) is part of a new project with partner organisation, Howoco, to develop a digital health app.

Funded by Smartline and University of Exeter through their in-house research and development programme, the online tool – Tickertest – has been created to support people who are not accessing NHS health check-ups through their GP.

Accessible through a smartphone or laptop, the app will guide you to take your blood pressure, monitor your heart rate and take a blood prick test which will be sent to NHS labs for analysis.

Emma Wooderson, head of better lives at CN4C, is excited about the new initiative. She said: “This online app could revolutionise the delivery of routine health checks – making it easier for people to access health services and helping GPs to find those most at risk of heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease or a stroke.”

The project is in its pilot phase and CN4C is looking for participants for two focus groups to trial how easy the app is to use and specifically, to evaluate how well people manage doing their own health checks.

Focus group participants, who will receive payment for taking part, must be aged between 40 and 74 and have access to Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
