I am surprised that Embiid or someone else on the Sixers hasn’t punched Ben Simmons right in the chest.
I am not saying Simmons wouldn’t hold his own in a fight, but to me, it seems like the only way to resolve this is in a boxing ring. There is no reason for Simmons not to be playing beside his feelings being hurt. There is nothing wrong with him physically (good try on faking a back injury) and the fact he is using mental health as a reason when people really have mental health issues is disrespectful on a lot of fronts.
Here is what Shams said about the meeting the Sixers had with Simmons today.
Ben Simmons spoke to Doc Rivers, Joel Embiid, and the entire 76ers team today and accepted everyone needs to take responsibility, including himself — but Simmons informed them all that he’s not mentally ready to play yet and needs time.
I am not sure what responsibility the teams and Embiid need to take?
They weren’t the ones who couldn’t make a free throw or were passing up wide-open dunks in the playoffs. They weren’t the ones who let the entire team and city down. They weren’t the ones that were loafing in practice and crying like a little baby before getting kicked out.
They weren’t the ones demanding a trade with four years left on the contract.
That is all on Simmons, who doesn’t seem to care that much about playing basketball but cares more about the celebrity status and financial freedoms it gives him.
Sadly, all his actions have decreased his trade value, and now the Sixers are stuck with him until his attitude changes which don’t seem to be happening any time soon.
