China held a memorial service on Wednesday morning to bid farewell to Wu Mengchao, known as the "father of Chinese hepatobiliary surgery." He passed away on Saturday.

Despite being a busy work day, thousands of people dressed in black showed up and laid flowers at the site in Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital in Shanghai, where Wu had worked.
