Meiloorun : A half-circle shawl inspired by Hera Syndulla and her favorite Meiloorun fruit from the Star Wars universe, knit using a combination of garter stitch, Meiloorun Lace, and two-color brioche.

Join the Countdown to Ahsoka KAL, starting May 31st!!!

Go stash diving for this ultimate Star Wars inspired shawl!! I highly recommend using solid or semi-solid yarns for this pattern for the stitches to really shine. My original color inspiration for this shawl is the Meiloorun fruit, found in many of my favorite Star Wars movies and shows. Go for a nice color fade, or choose high contrast colors for some amazing pops! The mini skein can be speckled or variegated, and any leftovers of 20g will work.

Skill Level:
Intermediate.

Techniques used:
knit, purl, yarn overs, knit decreases, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases and decreases, Twisted German Cast On, Elastic Picot Bind Off, half-circle Pi shawl shaping.

Construction Notes:
Here is another Star Wars inspired shawl pattern for you!! Inspired by Hera Syndulla, a Twi’lek Rebel pilot first seen in Star Wars Rebels, she was one of the first to begin the Rebellion against the Empire and was essential to the fight. Her favorite food is the Meiloorun fruit, and there is actually an entire episode dedicated to finding some for her to eat.

Diving into my stash, I found some gorgeous colors that look like a Meiloorun fruit. Fading from dusty pink to neon purple like the outside of the fruit rind, with a pop of green to mimic the stem of the fruit. The Pi shawl shaping technique, a la Elizabeth Zimmerman, which begins with very few stitches, doubles the stitch count at larger and larger intervals (i.e.: after 3 rows, then 6 rows, then 12 rows, etc.) to achieve its overall half-circle shape. You will explore different stitch patterns that are inspired by the shape of the fruit itself, blending your colors as your shawl grows. You will end with an Elastic Picot Bind Off that is a perfect way to end this shawl adventure.

I love gigantic half-circle shawls, they are so easy to wear! I love wearing mine draped over my shoulders with the bulk of the shawl around my back. You can also wrap it around your neck and shoulders for a daring accessory!
