The Dozen is a series that started when I entered the world of NFT’s. It was something new and exciting for me,
NFT’s bring a whole new world of opportunities and connections to life for artists expressing themselves
and their art.
The idea behind the “The Dozen” is taking an “egg” that is usually considered so simple, perhaps boring in form, and bringing it to life creating something beautiful and unique to look at. An egg is something important that brings life into the world. Just as Art brings life into the world visually, it brings life and emotion into a room where there were blank walls. An egg is the start of a new journey, a new creation that is unique.
This series is a journey of creativity and experimentation. I wanted to create twelve (a dozen) very unique egg sculptures each with a unique display stand that draws its design from the egg. I wanted each egg sculpture in the collection to have a different identity but still feel part of a bigger collection like they could compliment each other on a shelf if they were real.
These pieces are meaningful in many ways, this series was a journey of personal growth to challenge myself in the 3D space as a traditional Graphic Designer. I maintain my use of patterns and signature colour palette in new ways. Each egg is presented in a minimal setting as if it were set in a gallery on show.
