BOYLSTON – Voters can mark Monday, Dec. 6 on their calendars for a Special Town Meeting.

There will not be a long warrant, but the key article is for the town’s purchase of the remaining piece of the former Camp Harrington.

The town worked with the Greater Worcester Land Trust to purchase the property, with the Trust buying it with plans to then sell it to the town when grant funds were available to cover much of the cost.

The town has the chance to use state grant funds toward the purchase price, but must complete the town meeting action by the end of the year.

The warrant will be opened and closed at the selectmen’s Nov. 8 meeting, finalizing business items that will be before voters.

In other business

• Selectmen at their Oct. 25 meeting voted to dedicate the Hillside gym in memory of John “Jay” Corcoran, pending full approval of the Corcoran family.

• The board noted the residents who will receive the town’s Boston Post Cane. Margaret Bilek, 101, and Aram Arvanigian, 97, will be present with the cane in future ceremonies. Each will get to keep a Boston Post Cane pin while the original remains on display.

The cane is traditionally awarded to the oldest resident in town.

• Selectmen voted to amend the development agreement for the Trailside Apartments planned for 100 Shrewsbury St., increasing the number of permitted bedrooms in the proposed rental housing from 81 to 90.
