About this campaign

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Here at Gibson City Melvin Sibley High School, we have a mental health group that meets often to support those struggling mentally. Anyone is in danger of suicide if they get into that mindset. It is not you being weak or soft, it is a real illness. Depression and Anxiety are real. Suicide is real. It is time we come together and do something about it.

This fundraiser was an idea of a student whose mother committed suicide when she was 8 years old. Recent tragedies regarding Katie Meyer, an All American women's soccer player. who killed herself at 22, and a local teenager in central IL who passed away. These victims were victims of depression- not weak. Like many others across the planet. We need to make a change. Not tomorrow, not next week, now, It all starts with you.

I am supporting this campaign because I knew Katey Moore and I feel that just advocating about what is happening inside someone and making it more normalized can help reduce the lives lost by suicide.
