Slovene Language Course for Pupils who would like to study in Slovenia

The online course is intended for final year high school students who intend to enroll at a university in Slovenia and would like to refresh or improve what you have already learnt. Treat yourself to an excellent course with brilliant teachers of Slovene who have a lot of experience in live online teaching.

  • three 45-minute lessons twice a week, 80 school hours

Course

The course is organized as a videoconference on ZOOM. The online classes are similar to the ones in a regular classroom. Your teacher is going to be with you live and will answer your questions. The teacher will give you various tasks. There will be plenty of opportunities for conversation, phonetic exercises, grammar tasks, reading, listening and writing activities. 

We will send you the the learning material via regular mail or e-mail. From time to time, teachers will email you the learning material that they will prepare for your group, so it is advisable to have a printer at home.

IN ORDER TO ATTEND THE ONLINE CLASSES, YOU NEED:

  • a good internet connection,
  • a computer with a camera and a microphone,
  • printer (recommended),
  • and a quiet room.

Price: EUR 713

In each group there are 6 to 10 students.

  • Registration and Payment

    You can apply for the course with the application form at least 10 days (till 24 February 2024) before the course begins. After we have received your application form, we will send you the invoice by e-mail.

    The language course must be paid in full before the beginning of the course. You should send your payment receipt via e-mail.

  • Cancellation

    In case of a cancellation, please put it in writing and send to our address at least 7 days prior to the beginning of the course. Once we have received your cancellation in writing we will return 80% of the paid tuition fee in 30 days. We retain 20% of the paid amount for administrative costs as well as the cost of bank transactions.

  • Scholarships

    The Government Office for Slovenians Abroad gives special scholarships for participation in the course for Slovenians from neighbouring countries and for the children of Slovenian emigrants from further afield. The scholarship, which is 713 EUR, covers the costs of attending the course. Applications for grants must include personal details about the candidate and reasons to support the demand. We will only consider applications written by candidates themselves. Applications for scholarships must be sent by 14 February 2024 by post (to the address of the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language) or by email ([email protected]). Results will be given by 27 February 2024.

    The following will be taken into account:

    • Slovenians in neighbouring countries and children of Slovenian emigrants (proven Slovenian origin) – pupils enrolled in secondary education in the country in which they live 
    • the number of grants received by applicants in the past
    • participation in Slovenian organisations/institutions

    Candidates who have never been awarded a scholarship for Slovene language courses organized by the Center for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language and are students of the last two years of secondary school have priority. We make an exception for those candidates who have proved to be excellent students in the courses organized by the Center for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language.
