About

Greta Van Fleet in Concert

In three years, Greta Van Fleet went from touring the grimy rock bars of Detroit and Saginaw to headlining shows on five continents with audiences triple their hometown’s population. The band that once attracted crowds of teens to improvised forest concerts, have now sold over one million tickets worldwide. Stadiums in Italy are a far cry from a field strewn with pick-up trucks, framed by the canopy of tall coniferous trees, where they learned to love an audience. Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheater is a world away from the tiny Midwestern bars where they got their start (before they were even of legal drinking age). From Frankenmuth to a tour bus across America, then their first ever flight to Europe, their newest album The Battle at Garden’s Gate, released April 16, 2021, is a reflection of their journey into the present.

So many have been positioned as the future, we’ve forgotten how to recognize the real thing. Expectations may run high, but Greta Van Fleet is indifferent to opinion. The band doesn’t have to say a certain thing or act a certain way to convince anyone of their capacity. All they have to do is play.

I’ve Discovered the Music of My Soul!

    by Makayla B on 5/30/24

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. When I say this is an experience worth paying for, I absolutely mean it! So, usually, rock isn’t my genre. I listen to a lot of everything, and rock was (for some reason) not usually my first choice. My sister introduced me to Greta Van Fleet almost a year ago. I liked them! But again, rarely my first choice. For Christmas, my dad purchased GVF concert tickets and told us that come May 12th, we’d see them live! I was extremely excited, but more for the experience than the music itself. My sisters were counting down the days and I was just happy to be a part of their excitement. Then, the day arrived. The week before had been significantly rough for my family, so we were all thrilled to be getting away. Parking was a breeze. The staff was kind and extremely helpful. We walked in, scanned our tickets and jumped right into the merch line. We arrived a little later than expected, allowing us only a little bit of time to hear Mirador’s performance. But what we heard was absolutely incredible! It was then that the wheels in my head began to turn; processing Jake’s talent, making me all the more excited for Greta Van Fleet’s show. Once we’d checked out, new shirts in hand, we made our way to our seats, where we’d spend the next few hours. My family and I chatted while Geese performed, talking about the potential set list that GVF would lay out for us. Then the lights dimmed. The fans grew louder. The Starcatcher banner fell, concealing the nights main attraction. My sisters and I grew giddy. The music amped up. From where we were sitting, we were able to see the boys climbing up the stairs and onto the stage. Then the banner dropped, revealing the band whom I now know, has written the music that I’ve truly connected to. Josh’s showmanship was absolutely amazing. Bringing a genuine smile to not only my face, but every face I could see around me. The visual effects were a heart-racing sight to behold. The occasional burst of fire or flashing of lights only building the excitement in the stadium. Jake’s guitar solos were a mesmerizing display; the way he moved so confidently across the stage made me more confident in my small presence there. Danny’s skills are absolutely incredible. He knows how to keep the crowd moving! Sam’s talent on both piano and bass is stunning. Finally, Josh’s vocals are phenomenal! If it didn’t baffle me through Apple Music, it baffled me standing there only a few feet from the stage! He is so talented and I’m so thankful I’m alive to hear it! If anyone is considering spending the money, making the drive, or even dealing with the traffic that comes with seeing the four of these incredibly handsome and talented young men, I HIGHLY recommend you go through with it. You won’t have a single regret!

Didn’t know I’d need to bring a map

by Seasoned concert goer on 5/30/24KFC Yum! Center - Louisville

Music was great, lights were vibrant, sound was good……but finding seats was a matter of: Have we been here before? Is anyone here that can help us? Which curtain do I move and check is this my section? Remember when they had ushers who helped you navigate when needed? Nowhere to be found or seemingly busy -guarding the escalator(?) Anyway, at least three parties around us were in the wrong seats and were not happy to relocate to their proper areas… geez. Again, main act was stellar, first two eh… Parking in the garage was decent. Thanks, but I don’t think i’d choose this venue again.

    Great Band Not Great Acoustics

by Thor on 5/29/24Van Andel Arena - Grand Rapids

The warm up bands were not too impressive, but GVF was very professional and enjoyable to watch. Unfortunately, the acoustics in the arena are not real conducive for events such as this because the vocalists for the bands were all but drowned out by the rest of the bands.

A fantastic show from the music, to the stage presence, to the amazing fire and light show! Knocked every other artist out of the park and blew me away. Love the bond shared between the band and the love and passion really shows! 10/10 every show and performance.

    Handbag

by sam on 5/27/24PPG Paints Arena - Pittsburgh

Handbag policy would not even fit my cell. Seats showed a large gray area which looked like a large entrance for equipment. I bought seats thinking I was in the front row. This grayed area was seats.

    Way too Jam Centric

by Zoe on 5/27/24PPG Paints Arena - Pittsburgh

It felt like the band played so few real songs. The lead changed into about 5 outfits and took forever between songs. The vibes were not great in the crowd. We were very excited to see Greta Van Fleet live but we're incredibly disappointed. The production just seemed poorly planned and executed.

    Will forever be my favorite

by Madi on 5/26/24KFC Yum! Center - Louisville

Greta van fleet is the most incredible band to see live. I’ve loved them for years and streaming their music is nothing compared to seeing them live and I didn’t know that was possible because you can feel the emotion of their music even through streaming it’s crazy. All the boys interact with the crowd so much especially Josh lol it just makes it so much more fun when the artist is putting in that effort to make you feel included. They always have amazing lights and freaking fireballs it’s sick and and their outfits are top tier, like Elton John top teir. If you have the chance you seriously need to check them out.

    by Strongside20 on 5/25/24Fiserv Forum - Milwaukee

Greta Van Fleet knows how to put on a Rock Show. The energy of the crowd and the face melting guitar solo's was every I wanted at this epic show.
