Eat honey for bodybuilding after a workout?

Many bodybuilders use maltodextrin or dextrose for the energy needed for 60 to 120 minutes of cardio and strength training. These sources of carbohydrates are chosen for their slow-burning nature which also helps control blood sugar after exercise. However, many bodybuilders are quick to find that honey is an excellent substitute with additional benefits.

Like dextrose, honey is excellent for post-workout protein shakes to boost insulin levels in that tiny window of anabolic growth. Not only does this offer a different flavor (still a bonus in the slick world we know as the bodybuilding diet), but the body, which can stretch that anabolic window for an extended period, burns it slower.\. Honey shouldn't replace dextrose as the primary source of carbohydrates after exercise. After all, half of the calories come from fructose, the taste of carbohydrates that often turns fatty. But it's a viable option when you're out of dextrose, enjoying a cheating meal, or in the bloat, phase looking for extra calories. Any grocery store can be bought by honey and is a great option when you're on the go without a fair protein shake and grab some meat for lunch or some other quick source of protein after your workout. Training. Add to the beef 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey to maximize this post-workout period.

Honey also provides additional antioxidant effects in the body, making it doubly useful for bodybuilders in that critical post-workout recovery window.  Honey is careful if you are allergic (like many) and see a doctor if you experience any side effects to this tasty and helpful food. Enjoy the variety, and added benefits honey has for your bodybuilding program!
