Maybe, you are at that point in your relationship where you have gotten comfortable. Both of you may have your own routines and a routine that you share. However, if there is tension in the household and conversation about selfishness, there may be a few things that still need to be smoothed out. So, how do you know if you are being selfish? What should you look out for? The answer to these questions may be different for everyone, but here are a few suggestions on what signs you should pay attention to.

    1. You always get the best of everything.

Maybe, you always get the best plate at dinner or the best present during the holidays. If this is the case, your partner might feel a little resentful. He or she might expect that you attend to his or her needs in the same manner that he or she does yours, so pay attention and reciprocate. One person shouldn't always get what he or she needs while the other person is left hanging. It is important that the needs of both people are addressed.

    2. You always get your way in a fight.

If all of your fights end with you getting your way, then you may have an issue. It is important for both people in a relationship to communicate about their needs and find common ground, so everyone is satisfied.

    3. You always get to see your family or friends, but the other person doesn't.

If you are used to being able to spend time with your family and friends, but the person you are with doesn't get to do that, there might be a problem. Both people in the couple might need to compromise and make time for the important people on both sides. This doesn't mean refusing to hang out with your partner's friends or family. It means that both of you need to be willing to spend time with the other people that are important to the two of you.

Being in a relationship takes a lot of compromise, and sometimes, it might mean that you don't get your way. However, when both people are happy, the relationship tends to flow more smoothly.
