A 41-YEAR-OLD man from Duncan Village, Eastern Cape has been trapped like a prisoner in his house for four months because of warts on his balls.
The father of two can’t mingle with other people because of the bad smell coming from the warts.
He is unable to work and his marriage of 14 years has fallen apart because of his condition.
“In November last year, my life took a turn for the worse when I started developing warts on my balls. In March I noticed a bad odour,” he said.
He said he went to Duncan Village Day Hospital and was referred to Frere Hospital and was booked in for surgery on 30 August. But when he went there to be taken to theatre, he was referred to Cecilia Makiwane Hospital.
“I was told they don’t know when I would get a new appointment.

“I didn’t go because they couldn’t give me a date,” he said.
“My life has been brought to a standstill. I can’t work and I’m trapped in my house. I can’t visit friends and family.
He said he understands why people commit suicide because he feels like that sometimes.
“At times I don’t have electricity and food because I asked my employer to give me time off as I am unable to work with clients.
“I’m in so much pain and my balls are always itchy,” he said.
Eastern Cape Department of Health spokeswoman Yonela Dekeda confirmed that the patient in question was treated at Frere Hospital.
“However, the patient was treated for something else not related to warts,” he said.
“There are no records for this patient at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital as he was treated at Frere Hospital.”
