ZOOM - Instructions

You can use ZOOM on a computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone or via a browser on a television / other screen. Some devices use a keyboard and others a touch screen.

ZOOM has duplicate functions to use on a keyboard, or with a mouse and using a touch screen.

We recommend if using ZOOM for the first time, you have a play with it, to familiarise yourself with the settings and functions.

For a quick start:

  • Click here to open ZOOM.
  • In the centre of the screen is an owl and under the owl's purple toes is an orange bar with the words 'CLICK HERE TO GET STARTED'.
  • Click that bar.
  • A side panel will open.
  • The top box has an option to 'Select Demonstration Video'.
  • Click in that box and a list of demonstration videos will come up.
  • Click on any video.
  • Click close settings.
  • Click play.

The video is now playing in ZOOM.

To change the settings whilst watching the video, if on a device with a keyboard, you can use the keys in the image below:

You can also find these settings in ZOOM in the settings menu, under Icons & Keyboard Commands.

The video below, shows you how to:

  • Find a YouTube page and share-link
  • Copy it and paste the share-link into ZOOM
  • Use ZOOM and save your video and settings for next time.

You must use the YouTube share-link, not the web page address, as the two are different. This video explains the difference and how to ensure you have copied the correct address for ZOOM to run.

We have created a short troubleshooting page to cover any issues you may have.

If the video you want is not on YouTube, and you have permission to use and download it, you can create a free YouTube account and upload the video, and then you can use the share-link to watch it on ZOOM.

CVI Scotland Videos
All CVI Scotland videos are free to share and download, but are on Vimeo so can't be played on ZOOM. You can however download any of our videos to transfer to a YouTube account. We only ask that we are credited if you do this.
