Grace Montgomery is trying to figure out who she is away from her overbearing father and the Montgomery money. To develop her independence she stops using her trust fund, moves to New York, gets a job, and stops talking to her family. Even her grandmother Emma and brother Logan barely get more than a 'Hi, I'm fine'. In the spirit of snooping and matchmaking, Emma hires PI Ben to keep an eye on Grace for awhile and report back on if she's really 'fine'. Sparks fly, Ben has a moral and ethical debate, chemistry and Grace win. Ben and Grace have good chemistry, and Grace is big into being open and honest with Ben. But I wasn't as fond of Grace as I wanted to be-for all her open talk she was also closed up with people she claimed to love. I never really figured out how keeping the family members she actually likes out of her life was supposed to help Grace develop independence and personal identity. Grace also has her moments of stubborn stupidity, like when letting someone help would actually be about safety and not about proving she can handle anything. Sometimes it is ok to let the professionals do their job. I'd have liked to see more emotional or personal growth on her part. Ben was well written as the torn love interest- take the money, which he needs for his mom, or tell Emma to forget the job? Follow his feelings for Grace and be honest when he knows honesty will probably get him kicked out of her life?

An ok story over all, although Grace was a bit frustrating at times.

ARC for honest review with no compensation Received from BookSprout

Simply Sensual is book 3 in the Simply series by Carly Phillips which has been updated and rereleased.

Up next is Ben Callahan, P.I. hired by Emma Montgomery to check up on her granddaughter, Grace Montgomery who hasn’t touched her trust fund and little contact with her grandmother.

What happens when Ben and Grace connect on all levels, break their own rules and are hiding secrets…only time will tell…

Why did I buy the entire Simply series when I already had a very strong hunch Carly Phillips was not my cup of tea? Because the bundle seemed so cheap, that's why and now I've paid for it, I feel constrained to read it all.
To be honest, her books are never absolutely awful, but none of those I read were good either. This one strongly reminded me of a diet meal: some flavors but feeling repetitive after a few bites, and not longlasting, too little seasoning to add any real spice, no surprise or unusual ingredient, no sugar, no salt, no butter, no cream, no wine, no anything that makes a dish yummy.
The heroine is an almost perfect embodiment of TSTL and there are too many examples of that: leaving candles burning while she went out of her flat for at least one or two hours, leaving the door of her flat open in the middle of NYC, because she had no place to put her key on her - eh stupid, it could always fit in the bra, even if her cupsize did not reach that of her useless brain.
The hero was real nicer but not much real.
The story was just ok.
One last thing that got on my nerves relates to the happy-go-lucky tone where most people are very nice and friendly; just a few are bad apples but nothing can be done for those bad apples - they always are too rotten for redemption. In this case
Two more to go... sigh

*An advance reading copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*

Grace Montgomery has decided to stop withdrawing money from her trust fund and start living free of the strings that come attached. She’s all alone in New York City, making a modest living as a photographer, and using her spare time to work with a children’s charity to help the less fortunate. Grace has also stopped answering not only her brother’s, Logan who we met in Simply Scandalous, calls, but her tenacious Grandmother Emma’s calls.

Emma is the one person in Grace and Logan’s lives that gave them love when they were growing up. So to have Grace not answering or returning any of Emma’s calls just won’t do. Emma hires P.I. Ben Callahan to watch over Grace. Ben’s a private investigator, not a glorified babysitter, but one look at Grace’s photo makes it hard to say no. Not to mention the money Emma’s offering will set Ben’s mother up in an assisted living facility that would take Ben another year or two of cases to be able to make happen. Emma’s even gone so far as to pay rent on the condo across the hall from Grace to make it seem that Ben’s just a new neighbor.

Ben keeps reminding himself that Grace is just another case and that he needs to keep his hands to himself. But Grace is making that a challenge for him. She’s pushing all the right buttons. After a particularly nasty run-in with an older brother of one of the kids Grace shoots pictures of for the charity, it’s left Grace shaken and Ben overly protective. Feelings flair and Ben just loses himself in the moment. Grace understands that this is just a short affair, but her heart gets involved. Ben, who knows he crosses a line, also realizes he not only needs, but wants, Grace in his life.

Is Grace going to be able to forgive him when she learns that her own grandmother hired him to watch over her and report back? Will she be able to forgive her own grandmother, who really only had the best of intentions? Especially with the shenanigans that Emma pulled on Logan and Catherine. Will Grace get out of her own way and realize that Ben does actually want to be with her, this version of Grace, not the one with the trust fund? There’s a lot to unpack here but Carly Phillips does it all so seamlessly.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the characters and the story line. I HIGHLY recommend this read.
Grace Montgomery is from an extremely wealthy family. Unfortunately, her parents only cared about money and social status, not their children. Luckily for Grace and her brother Logan, their grandmother Emma raised them. Emma raised them to be strong and independent.
Since Grace is now of age she decided to move far away from her parents, especially her father the judge. She lives off her trust fund for a little while but then decides to prove to her parents and herself that she can do it on her own and not need her parents financially.
Ben is a private investigator that was hired by Emma to give her information on how Grace is doing and to make sure she is safe. Ben only took this job because Emma was paying him enough money from this one job to be able to put his blind mother into a nice, assisted living facility.
Grace is unaware that her new sexy neighbor is the man her grandmother hired to keep an eye on her. Ben is shocked to see that the beautiful woman from the picture is even more breathtaking in person.
As much as Ben tries to keep his distance from Grace the more seductive Grace gets. After all, she’s a woman that knows what she wants, and in this case, it happens to be Ben.
When Ben decides to give in to the attraction and temptation, he figures he can get his fill and get out. Never once did his plan involve falling for his “job”.
Grace is happy to finally get Ben exactly where she wants him, in her bed. But will she feel the same once she finds out the man she fell in love with was hired by her grandmother to check in on her? Will she believe him when he tries to tell her he has fallen in love with her? Will Grace ever be able to forgive Ben so they can have a future together?

1. Kurzgeschichte: "Einfach sexy" -Carly Phillips
Schreibstil: Ein angenehmer Schreibstil.

Simply Sensual, book three in the Simply series, by Carly Phillips, is an enjoyable read and one of the many early books of hers that I read and re-read. This re-release has been modernized, updated and expanded. This is a story with a humorous bend, a bit of intrigue and suspense; not quite the current, hot and sizzling books she writes.

Emma Montgomery was concerned about granddaughter, Grace, who fled to New York. She wanted to make sure she was alright since she wasn’t using her trust fund and had become independent, if possible, too independent and pursuing her love of photography. Hiring Ben, a PI, to keep tabs on Grace, would give Emma some relief; not to mention a chance to do a little matchmaking. Moving into an apartment across the hall from Grace, Ben gets to know her a bit better and notices the magnetism and chemistry building between them, almost from the first meeting. Grace runs Ben ragged with her shenanigans and locations for photo shoots, which could possibly put her in danger and attracting some major unwanted attention. It might be difficult for some to create a relationship built upon lies, family interference, attraction, romance, sizzling chemistry, intrigue, and danger; but Ben and Grace just might be the couple to pull this off.

Ms. Phillips wrote a wonderful, humorous and sweet story that will pull at your heartstrings and is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sizzling chemistry, amusing banter, and charming characters in order for Grace and Ben to find their own happily ever after. I highly recommend Simply Sensual to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Ben Callahan was raised on the wrong side of town. Grace Montgomery was born with the silver spoon literally. How do these two with so many differences overcome them to fall so deeply in love? With a little help from Grace's grandmother of course! She is determined to make sure her granddaughter is taken care of and she has great-grandbabies soon. After just getting Grace's brother settled down with the love of his life she's set her sights on making sure the same happens with Grace.

Enter Ben, PI by trade, knows this job isn't something he can pass up, after all he's sole responsible for the care of his ailing mother and taking this case will make sure that happens. However after one look at the picture of Grace and he can't help himself and agrees to Emma's request to look after Grace and find out what she's up to in NYC and keep tabs on her. Little does he know Emma has hand picked Ben for Grace and this is her little nudge in making her dreams of babies in the family come true.

Ben can't resist Grace, he's taken in by her beauty but then he learns that she's just a woman who has been damaged by her lack of parent's love and is looking to find her place in the world and that possible happily ever after she isn't sure she believes in. Ben is the one who changes that all for Grace and is devastated when she learns the real reason Ben has become a part of her life.

This is a fun, light read for and you will love the journey of Ben and Grace and their love story.

I adored Grace and Ben! Grace is a woman who is trying to make something of herself without the family name. She has moved states away to start fresh without the trappings of family money and approval. She has distanced herself from her parents but not her grandmother, Emma and brother until she goes radio silence. That's when her grandmother takes maters into her own hands and hires a private investigator, Ben. Ben is focused. Work is professional and a means to support his mother who needs more help than he can give. His payment from Emma will provide a health care facility for his mom that he could never dream of. His attraction to Grace has to take a back seat. Until he can't ignore it anymore. Grace also has her own agenda about Ben. She sees him as a way to get what she wants from a man. The situation that Ben finds himself on is not an easy one. I admire his thoughts to stay professional but Grace is a woman who is easy to fall for. Ben's struggles between his heart and mind is a lose lose situation. Grace is just being herself and loving the woman she is becoming.

Emma, Grace’s rich grandmother is at it again. She feels the need to try her hand at matchmaking and her granddaughter Emma is her current target. I loved Ben who is a private investigator Emma hired to find out how her granddaughter is doing on her own in New York City.I felt bad for Ben as Ben’s mother needs to go into an assisted living home and this money Emma is paying will help him pay for it. Ben is such a wonderful man that loves his mother and tries to do the right things in life. I think he fell in love with Emma when he saw her picture even though he wouldn’t admit it. Poor Emma may have come from a rich family, but there was no love shown by her parents. I was glad to see that she wanted to make it on her own without her family’s money and live her life better. You could tell Ben was good for Emma and gave her more confidence. I loved the two together. Ben always had in the back of his mind how would Emma feel when she finds out her grandmother hired him. Then what would happen? I loved the book and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.

Simply Sensual is the third book in the Simply series. First published in 2000, this book has a little added content and updates and a new cover. It can be read as a standalone book but characters from previous stories appear toward the end.

Emma is the grandmother to Logan and Grace and she wants to see them happily married before she dies. So, in an effort to do some matchmaking, and to relieve her own concerns, she sends Ben, a Private Investigator to check on Grace where she lives in New York.

Ben moves in next door to Grace and they begin a friendship with sexual chemistry that Grace wants to give in to and Ben does not. Ben is trying to help Grace who is doing photography of children at a nearby park in a bad neighborhood to help with fundraising brochures for a charity to help those same kids. She is being threatened to leave the area by drug sellers, but she won't listen.

Ben and Grace give in to their passion. Ben feels regret knowing he is lying to Grace about who he is. Will Grace find out about Emma and Ben and how will she deal with the betrayal by two people she deeply loves?

Emma Montgomery is a force to be reckoned with. Before he even realizes it Ben Callahan has taken on the assignment of watching over Emma's granddaughter. From the moment he saw Grace's photo he knew he was in deep trouble, even though he denies the attraction at the time.

Grace has stopped using her trust fund to live and has gone off on her own. She's not talking to her grandmother like she used to and Emma is worried about her. On the other hand Grace is feeling much more independent and is pursuing her love of photography.

Ben moves into the apartment across the hall from her and there is a noticeable attraction from their first meeting. It gets even more interesting when they meet where Grace is taking photos for her project.

Unfortunately for Grace, she manages to attract some very unwanted attention.

Intrigue, family interference, romance and sizzle will have you turning the pages to see what happens next.

Emma Montgomery is at it again . . . Matchmaking for one of her grandchildren! This time she hires a private investigator to “keep an eye on her” and report daily to ensure that she’s okay now that she’s moved to New York City. But when Ben Callahan meets Grace Montgomery, he knows that maintaining his professionalism and keeping his hands to himself will be the ultimate challenge.

Grace Montgomery has lived a life of privilege that she has suddenly rejected and determined that she can make it one her own talents in the big city as a photographer. When a new man moves in temporarily across the hall from her, the attraction is automatic! It doesn’t take long for her to try out her new sensuality on him . . . and she is surprised by how successful it may be!

How well do Ben and Grace get along . . . how much trouble does Grace get into . . . and how long does it take for Grace to discover that her grandmother has hired Ben to keep track of her . . .

Inspiration to be yourself always helps.

Deception isn’t the way to start a relationship, although you never thought it would become a relationship. Ben was hired by Emma, Grace’s grandmother to check on her in New York, and see that she was alright since she had not been using her trust fund and had become independent. But in reality, she became too independent to a fault. Ben moved in across the hall temporarily and the two began to know each other. She ran him ragged trying to keep up with her shenanigans. Could she possible be in danger by herself in the area she worked, and trying to help the misfortunate family’s through a charity? Yes, she could be. There is a happy ending to this story, but with challenges they faced, and also the love they felt. It’s a great love story that I recommend. Looking forward to the last book in this series.

Private investigator Ben Callahan needs money to take care of his mother in assisted living. So when Emma Montgomery offers him unlimited expenses to watch over her granddaughter Grace Montgomery, Ben finds it hard to resist. Alarm bells should have sounded but how hard can it be to watch over one woman?.

Then he meets golden-haired Grace, who he refers to as princessa. Grace is gifted, gorgeous, reckless and hard to resist.

Grace comes from a prominent family where she never felt she had control of her own life. But she is determined to prove she can support herself. Meeting her sexy new neighbor has her also wanting to explore her long-repressed sexuality.

Ben finds he doesn’t stand a chance resisting Grace. But when Grace learns the real reason he is her new neighbor will he be able to convince her to give him another chance?

This is book 3, a rerelease with updates. Grace is the granddaughter of Emma, we met the meddling Gran in book 2. Gran hired Ben, a private investigator to keep an eye on Grace since she went anti-communication, he took the job because he needed the money. She set him up in the apartment across from Grace. They meet, become friends and .....She wants what she wants and he fights the attraction/temptation which equals FAIL. Will Grace forgive him when she learns she was a job and he was hired by Gran? Will she forgive Gran for meddling g in her life? Will Grace believe Ben when he explains and tell her he loves her? Love these characters and their stories. Well written. We all need a meddling Emma(Gran) in our lives!!!

Ben and Graces story in Simply Sensual was perfect! Grace is tired of being the spoiled little rich girl and wants to prove herself, living on her own, avoiding her trust fund and trying to make a name for herself with photography. She’s also ready to explore the attraction to her sexy neighbor Ben. Little does she know that Ben was hired to keep taps on her as a PI by her loving but matchmaking grandmother Emma. Resisting their attraction proves to be too much for Ben who was unaware of Emma’s history in setting up her grandchildren. From begging to end Carly Phillips creates a world that makes the reader want to jump into! Another fantastic read!

Grace wants to forge her own path in life, so she has put some emotional and physical distance between her and overprotective family. Her grandmother isn’t comfortable with that situation so her decision to engage Ben is twofold to not only keep her safe but bring them together as well.

Ben is a private investigator and although this isn’t the usual type of case he usually accepts the financial reward will help those he loves the most. He certainly didn’t expect that the biggest challenge in the assignment would be denying the attraction between them as now that she has attracted the attention of the wrong people a misstep could have dire consequences.

This is a sweet and sexy romance filled with witty banter, a little suspense and two people who couldn’t be a better match.

I enjoyed reading Simply Sensual . It is well written and the characters are fantastic . What starts as a job to finance a better place for his mother , may end in falling in love or heartbreak . PI Ben Callahan is hired by Grace Montgomery's Grandmother Emma Montgomery to watch over her . Their attraction and chemistry is there from the start . Will Grace understand when she finds out her Grandmother is behind Ben and her meeting . This is the third book in the Simply series . This is a wonderful story full of romance, some suspense and definitely intrigue . While Ben is watching over Grace she finds herself in danger .
I highly recommend taking the time to read .

Simply Sensual is the 3rd book in the Simply Series and is Ben Callahan and Grace Montgomery’s story.

Grace is a photographer. She is trying to make it on her own and to use none of her family's money. Ben is a PI hired by Grace’s Grandma Montgomery to watch over Grace. Grace is also Logan Montgomery’s sister. Which makes Grandma Emma Montgomery one of my favorite book people.

This series was originally published under Harlequin. Which I have to say were the first romance books that I started reading, so very long ago! I very much enjoyed reading this book and look forward to more of Carly Phillips books.

Simply Sensual is the third stand-alone novel in the Simply Series by Carly Phillips. It's the first book in the series I got to read and I didn't feel like I was missing anything. The story was originally written about 20 years ago and I got to say, I prefer the author's newest books. Nowadays I found her characters more relatable. Simply Sensual is one of her best old books if you ask me though. I had no problem reading it and I liked the story and the characters. The story didn't have a wow factor, but it wasn't bad and I had a good time reading it. I would recommend it as a light and relaxing read.

This is Book 3 in the Simply Series by this author. It is an opposites attract romance between Private Investigator Ben and photographer Grace. These likeable souls and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. What starts out as an assignment turns into something more. It is a charming love story with some drama, humor, steam, family dynamic, twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. A quick read with a happy ending. It can be read as a standalone but you enhance your reading pleasure if you read the other books in the series.

Simply Sensual is another warm-hearted feel-good book in this awesome series! I absolutely loved this story. Ben and Grace made me laugh out loud with their banter and shenanigans. And their infatuation and sizzling chemistry made me swoon so hard ... They are both so down to earth, so genuine, that it is impossible not to fall in love with them. Their story is suspenseful with some twists and turns, sensual and HOT, HOT, HOT ...
It's another page-turner and must-read from this wonderful author.

Feisty Emma Montgomery is matchmaking again. This time she hires PI Ben to spy on her granddaughter knowing he is perfect for her. Grace is trying to be like her brother and not rely on family money to survive. Ben poses as a temporary neighbor and she decides to seduce him as part of finding her inner bad girl. Ben is torn because he is attracted to her and yet hates lying to her.

Good romance and some intrigue, but it’s a minor story and not the focus here. Good, quick read and I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Thanks to the author for a review copy.

Emma’s next matchmaking stunt is with her granddaughter Grace. Grace, a photographer, moves to New York, doesn’t use her trust fund, and won’t use the Montgomery name to get ahead. Emma hires a private investigator, Ben, to go and keep an eye on Grace. Ben goes to New York and moves in across the hall from Grace. He gets close to Grace but tries his best to keep his hands to himself, to no avail. When Grace finds out that he’s being paid to get close to her, will she be able to forgive?

Sweet and sexy. A grandmother who loves to interfere. Romantic.

Simply Sensual the third in Ms Phillips reissued Simply Series was a delightful read. That once again features Emma Montgomery and her matchmaking skills but this time its PI Ben and her granddaughter Grace who are the targets of her well-meaning plot.
And with a lovely mix of sweetness, heat, angst and danger Simply Sensual was entertaining and engaging to read; and a great addition to what has been a wonderful series so far.

Would recommend.
