Off-contract Bulldogs enforcer is reportedly being targeted by the Roosters after an underwhelming stint at the Canterbury-Bankstown club.

The English international is without a contract for the 2024 season and was earning a hefty $800,000 salary during his time at the Bulldogs.

He only played 42 games across four season, with injuries keeping him sidelined for extended periods since travelling abroad from the Super League.

“There’s a little bit of interest apparently from the Roosters,” Read said on Triple M.

“Obviously, the Angus Crichton news has come out in the last 48 hours or so that he may leave at the end of the season, depending on what happens with Rugby.

“If that happens, they’ve got to upgrade a couple of blokes, Terrell May, Siua Wong’s an obvious one.

“Potentially if they get some money out of that deal with Angus leaving, then they may take a look at Luke Thompson.”

Channel 9 reporter Danny Weidler previously revealed Thompson had told those close to him he would take a pay-cut to play for the Roosters.

He even revealed club supremo Nick Politis has been approached, and since then their salary cap situation could change with Crichton’s departure.
