Job description

The “Ayuda en Acción” Foundation is recruiting experienced candidates for the management and coordination of a project in the area of ​​economic opportunities in the province of Cabo Delgado. In these moments Ayuda en Acción is looking for interested candidates to form the team, which will be presented with the financing proposal.

Functions:

  • Coordinate, plan, manage, develop and implement the project, as well as the processes, methodologies, programs, policies and objectives with effects for the project, according to the approved formulation and objectives;
  • Ensure compliance with project activity plans in terms of time, quality and budget, business development and financial sustainability;
  • Ensure the implementation of the project's strategy in terms of funding, systems monitoring, learning management and thematic knowledge, according to the project;
  • Identify internal or external variables that affect the project;
  • Periodically present the degree of progress, propose corrective measures in case of deviations, guarantee the fulfillment of the project and the established objectives and guarantee the sustainability of investments;
  • Establish, validate budgets, operational plans and specific objectives for all areas of the project based on the approved strategy, objectives and budget, and submit it for approval;
  • Monitor, identify deviations and propose or approve corrective measures;
  • Ensure the adequate allocation of resources, means and interrelationships between the different areas internal and external to the project, in order to guarantee the coherence, collaboration, learning and achievement of the objectives established in the different lines of work, the correct implementation of operations and financial balance;
  • Represent the project before public or private donors, institutions, networks, forums, national, international, governmental, media and other organizations in the sector;
  • Identify, create and maintain high-level relationships and alliances with an impact on the project strategy, generating business development opportunities;
  • Promote and participate in campaigns and events to raise awareness or funds;
  • Identify, design or promote the creation and presentation of innovative and strategic programs to donors or institutions, to guarantee the project's positioning in key spaces, create strategic alliances that contribute to the development of the project and ensure growth and the project's financial sustainability;
  • Validate the proposed human resources dimension (incorporations, promotions or terminations) of the project;
  • Lead and supervise the performance of the functions and responsibilities of the project team with transparency, integrity, control and quality; to provide timely and accurate internal and external responsibility;
  • Participate in the selection of key positions;
  • Ensure the dissemination and implementation of security plans and measures.

 

Offer Terms:

 

  • Incorporation during the second semester of 2021. The legal bond of the qualified candidates will be through a letter of commitment and, if the project is approved by the financier, the contract will be drawn up, a process for which there is a forecast within the third quarter of the year 2021.

Requirements

Key qualifications:

 

  • Relevant University Degree required on Economics, Agriculture, Social Sciences or related areas, ideally a postgraduate degree in the areas of Project Management, International Cooperation, Business Development or Social Sciences.
  • At least 8 years of consecutive proven work experience in project management including with donor supported local organizations implementing projects or similar initiatives in the Northern part of Mozambique, especially in Cabo Delgado;
  • At last 5 years’ experience working in collaboration with government authorities and structures at national and subnational levels.

 

Skills

 

  • Leadership capacity and management of international development projects financed by donors;
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and program design, ideally with experience in donor-funded programs;
  • Ability to write reports in Portuguese and English language and to document relevant information;
  • Knowledge, practical application and implications of participatory development approaches, tools, monitoring and evaluation tools;
  • Strong knowledge of development dynamics with the private sector in Mozambique;
  • Ability to manage and develop high performance teams;
  • Inter-institutional and inter-agency coordination capabilities;
  • Ability to relate to local authorities and other actors in the programs;
  • Analytical capacity and strategic planning;
  • Ability to structure and manage complex tasks; including experience in work planning and activity budgeting;
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, while having strong team-building skills;
  • Superior writing skills and the ability to develop well-written and cohesive reports that respond to the partner's needs;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • The numerical ability to analyze financial information, budget and cost monitoring;
  • Ability to work well in a team and inter-organizationally (net-working) and establish excellent relationships with colleagues from different roles and cultures.
