Chronicles of the Stone Veil #3

The Evolution of Fae and Gods

Rate this book
Evil is coming.

A dark malevolence the likes of which this world has never seen, and it comes straight from the depths of Hell. Darkness meant to destroy. A prophecy I am fated to fulfill but will most likely not survive.

Through it all, Carrick Byrne has stood strong by my side. Something has deeply changed between me and the man I once despised, and all it took was a kiss of provocation for both of us to feel it. I know deep in my soul we’re being guided by destiny, but I don’t know if I can trust it. Carrick is holding something back, and I fear the consequences could be deadly once his truth is revealed.

We’re not ready, but calamity waits for no woman. I have discovered a power within myself I must learn to master. A new connection in the Underworld has been revealed to me, one that I hope is friend but is just as likely foe. We are in a race against time as we try to figure out how to stop the end of the world from occurring. The battle is coming, and I can only hope we’re prepared for what happens next.

The Evolution of Fae and Gods is book three of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and is best enjoyed if read in series order.

"Putting that distance between us again is the only way to keep my heart secure."

The Evolution of Fae and Gods is the third book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil. Sawyer Bennett has crafted a magical world full of passion, romance, and heart! Finley and Carrick have already been through hell and yet the battle is only beginning. The relationship between Finley and Carrick is growing stronger. Especially now that Finley has a full understanding of exactly who they are to each other, they cannot get enough of each other. Carrick has become even more protective of his love and will stop at nothing to ensure her survival. description
"I trust that every bit of this demi-god is somehow mine."
Told in dual POV, The Evolution of Fae and Gods is another epic addition to this unforgettable series. When life and death are on the line, the stakes are high for them both to survive together. One of the aspects of this series that truly stands out is the ensemble of characters standing beside Carrick and Finley. The supporting characters offer depth to an already complex plot and the mystery of the magic between evil and good continues to wage war.
"...he's only mine for a short while."
Overall, The Evolution of Fae and Gods will appeal to paranormal romance fans who enjoy a sassy heroine and an alpha male whose love for each other is unstoppable. I have always been a fan of Sawyer Bennett and once again she has showcased her unmatchable storytelling skills through this third edition of this series. Be forewarned, there is a huge cliffy at the end of this one so have your Kindle ready to receive the 4th book because you will be dying (like me) to find out what happens next.

I’ve been feeling “angsticipation” ever since I finished the third installment of the Chronicles of Stone Veil. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series because I know in my bookish bones that it’s epic and it’ll go straight to my favorites list.

As with the previous book, The Evolution of Fae and Gods picks up right where the previous book left off. Evil is not only after Finley, it’s goal is to rule the world. Forcing Finley, Carrick and the rest of their motley crew into a deadly race against time to figure out a way to save it.

Even though there are truths Carrick has yet to reveal to Finley, trust between them is no longer a question as their relationship continues to evolve. Their attraction is undeniable and the romance is shaping up to be epic.
“… through it all, he has stood strong by my side. Something has deeply changed between me and the man I once despised, and all it took was a kiss of provocation for both of us to feel it. I know deep in my soul we’re being guided by destiny, but I don’t know if I can trust it. He is holding something back, and I fear the consequences could be deadly once his truth is revealed…”

Finley continues to grow and come into herself while Carrick’s character is further explored along with the supporting individuals who help push along this amazing story full of thrilling action, suspenseful plot twists and delicious romance. I can’t say enough about this book. The plot, the pace, the world building, the characters, the setting, the romance are all skillfully weaved into this compelling story that keeps getting better.

The Evolution of Fae and Gods is book #3 of Chronicles of the Stone Veil series by Sawyer Bennett who skillfully recounts events from the previous books in case you missed it, but it’s recommended to read them in order. It is told from both points of view leaning towards the heroine’s side and ends with a massive cliffhanger. Genres: Paranormal Romance | Fantasy Tropes: Alpha hero | billionaire hero | kick@$$ heorine

Book 3 is already starting with a bang. Literally. Fire, glass shattering. yup. BANG!

I am OBSESSED with The Evolution of Fae and Gods. It’s everything I wanted from book 1 and book 2 (Even though these two were still really good books). More drama, more action and adventure. More ANSWERS! More EVERYTHING!

Speaking of ‘chemistry’, I feel like book 1 and book 2 was all about ‘’the angst’’.I was bursting with anticipation..I was dying because I could feel the AMAZING sizzling attraction between Carrick and Finley. Thank You Sawyer because I can now rest easy.
The lust in The Evolution of Fae and Gods is the perfect mix of anger, frustration, possessiveness (Oh lord!), a little regret and It makes for a definitely page turner.

I liked Carrick before but now? I LOVE him. He’s this perfect domineering yet gentle character and I will seriously swoon over him.
“Now….let’s try this again. If you look at my woman again with anything but respect, you’ll lose your head and balls.”

There’s a little drool right there Jem…yup. Right there. Hahaha

There are moments in this book where Carrick reaches out and quickly tweaks Finley’s nose and I find that SO ADORABLE! It melts my heart and I smile whenever he does this.

I adore Finley! Though she makes reckless decisions at times, I adore her. I find her to be brave and very realistic.

The funny thing is, I realised that even though so many of my questions were answered, even though we’ve already gotten so much more of what we wanted…this is just the tip of the iceberg and that blows my mind. We still have two more books to go and I for one, cannot wait to read them all!

In The Evolution of Fae and Gods, we along with Finley learn more about her powers and what we have seen up to this point was just the tip of the iceberg. The chemistry that has been building up between Finley and Carrick is getting deeper and hotter. I don't want to give anything away so just know that there is a LOT going on in this action packed read.

I cannot stress enough that this series MUST be read in order of release because we are left with cliffhangers and the next book picks up right where the previous one left off. There are so many things are going on in this installment of the Chronicles of the Stone Veil, so don't skim at any point because you will miss something big.

What will happen next? I have no idea but I can't wait to find out!
If you enjoy Paranormal Romances I would recommend this series to you.

Happy Reading!!!

4.5 - I KNEW I WAS RIGHT - Stars

Me sobbing at the end of this book as Carrick detailed his love for Finely through every incarnation of her:

There were little clues throughout the first 2 books, mostly the 2nd book, that led me to not be surprised, but happily grateful for the truth about his past and how he's loved Finely for over a thousand years. They first met when he saved her life and they lived happily for 7 years, until she was cruelly ripped away from him by one of the gods he served, leaving him cursed to find her again only to lose her once again in death.

I totally live for that kind of story. As he recounted his love for her and how he always recognized her in every one of her lifetimes, I wept. (Not really, but you get me)

💕 “I knew you because you are Eireann. I knew you from that curly red hair to the line of your nose and those fucking green-gold-blue eyes I looked at every night for seven years before we went to bed.”

As he told her how he was doomed to lose her, Finley began to understand why he wanted to Ascend once they stop the prophecy from unfolding, he was tired of losing her over and over again.

It's a really beautiful scene and reincarnated lovers is really one of my fave tropes and it isn't done often so I was pleased to get it after reading the first 2 books. Not that they were hard to get through, the overall story is really good and has you wanting to find out how everything will work out for Finley, Carrick and the entire team.

Of course this book wasn't just about Finley and Carrick's past lives together. This book continued their journey trying to find out more information on the prophecy. We get new clues and find out new information. There is another trip to Faere and plenty of cute scenes between Carrick and Finley. There really aren't any descriptive lovescenes in the book. It actually is mostly fade to black, which is different for Sawyer Bennett, but I think she is focusing more on the overall story. Though, there were a few that weren't fade to black but not super descriptive.

I'm really enjoying this series and the way this one ended, I definitely need to find out what happens now...

Each installment of this series is difficult to review on its own since it’s not an individual story. Rather, it’s the next set of chapters in one epic tale, worthy of a mini-series or feature film. Sawyer Bennett has created a world that is so rich and clear, making them utterly fantastic believable. I feel transported to a realm where prophecies are real, demons walk amongst us, and the gods interfere with our fate.

In this third book in the series, we get more background detail on many of the characters. We understand more about Finley’s protector at birth, more about her sister, and Dark Fae Fallon’s true identity. We get to watch Finley’s friends play more of an active role in helping to solve the mystery of what is taking place.

Best of all, we get the start of the romantic relationship between Finley and Carrick, which is passionate and soul-deep, and we get a better look at the depths contained in Carrick. He is no longer the angry, broody man we met in the first story, but we see the many layers that are contained in this fascinating being that has lived hundreds of lives and start to understand his motivations and what has molded him into the being he is.

Ending once again on a cliffhanger, we are forced to wait to find out how the story continues to unfold. The saving grace in all of this is that the release dates are so quick that we don’t have to wait long!

Good googly moogly, the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series is totally hitting its stride with The Evolution of Fae and Gods. Like totally hitting its stride to the point that I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to see what the heck was gonna happen next with Finley and Carrick.

So many more layers have been peeled back on the prophecy and what just may be Finley’s role. And we find out a bit more about Carrick too. Plus, their romance is getting hot and heavy too. *swoon*

And just when I thought the cliffhanger ending from The Revelation of Light and Dark was a nail-biter, nothing prepared me for the cliffhanger ending of The Evolution of Fae and Gods.

Nothing.

And now I cannot wait until A Battle of Blood and Stone to release on April 13th because of that ending. My god. I gotta know what the heck happens next!! ~ Missy, 5 stars

Review by Trinette Dungee

At the end of Book 3 (Secrets and Fate), Finely is facing death from what was once her twin sister Fallon. This book opens with Carrick coming to Finley’s rescue, and in this book, relationship for the two takes a new direction.

So, this is going to have to be short and sweet, because I feel like if I could ruin some of the discoveries for other readers. During this book, the connection between Finley and Carrick grows stronger, and it answers a lot of my questions as well as confirms some theories I have. When you have a cliffhanger series of more than two or three books, you always have that one book that really starts having things click into place and really absorbs you into the story. This was that book for me. I enjoyed the first two, but this was the one that really has a lot of “the meat”. We also get to not only see more of Carrick, but we get more of his PoV (I’m still curious as to why his PoV is third person as opposed to first person like Finely) and learn more about him and his desire to ascend. For me, Carrick became more an actual man/person and less mystical. I mentioned before how, the romantic relationship between the two wasn’t really a priority for me during this storyline, but more solving the mystery of this prophecy…well, as much as I loved the development of their relationship, I’m still more interested in the prophecy! LOL.

What I really liked about the coming together of these two, was that it didn’t take away from the overall story. Typically, when this happens, suddenly the new relationship is the focus and what was once the main story takes a backseat. That didn’t happen here. We get more intimacy from Finley and Carrick but preparing for the prophecy still leads the story.

Finley gains more knowledge of her true twin, who has been raised in the Underworld. She also learns that there is a connection between the two of them, although her twin is not so elated about the connection. The dark force that took over Fallon, now has a name and her plan is learned. This knowledge takes Finley and Carrick back to Faere, among other places, where Finley is now starting to tap into unknown powers.

The “Circle” is pretty much solidified as well during this book. Finley’s group consists of Carrick, Lucien, Maddox, Titus, Zaid, Rainey, and Myles. They each have their roles in protecting Finely and preparing for the “big showdown”, when it occurs now that they know what it is. We get more info on the other players in this book. We learn more about Zaid’s past and his devotion to Carrick. I’m happy that Rainey and Myles have such important roles in this series. I was afraid they would be those characters that are there but only on the peripheral and don’t have much to do with what’s going on.

With that being said, Myles worries me. I don’t know what it is, but I just feel like he might could be a wild card before this is all over. Rainey is proving to be very interesting. At one point my mind was going to her possibly being more involved in this supernatural world on a regular basis. Arwen, the Scryer, once told Finley the end of the Prophecy would result in her paying a “great price”. Everyone naturally assumes it would mean her death. I am not too sure of that. There are so many things that come to light in this book that it could be any number of things.

Two of the biggest questions I had from the last two books were: why did Carrick have the reaction he did when he first met Finley? At one point he basically says, Finley missed his initial reaction of shock, right there is where I solidly formed my theory which was confirmed in this book. The other was, why did the God Rune dislike him so much; this was also answered.

So far this is my favorite book in the series. For me all, or most of, the characters are completely developed. There isn’t too much mystery surrounding them (except Maddox and Lucien, I could still use a little more info on them, but that’s just me being nosey). I most definitely enjoyed Carrick more in this book, they guy even has a little bit of a sense of humor. Like I mentioned, he because more human in this book. Like the scene were Rainey is cooking and he’s a little on the hungry side and she keeps getting sidetracked listening to a story. I don’t know why but it made me giggle. I also discovered that I love Maddox, that guy is way cool.

I am definitely in the minority with this one. This series is just so blah and lacks that excitement or originality I want. There is nothing compelling about it, because the world-building is messy and full of holes, and the protagonist Finley is just plain unlikeable to me. She makes stupid mistakes over and over; when she almost died at the end of book 2 by leaving the house without telling anyone you'd think she learned her lesson. She even says she'll never do it again. Well, she does that exact same thing again in this book. I can't abide unintelligent characters who refuse protection and want to be involved in everything, and never take the sensible route. I mean Finley is the key to stopping a world-ending prophecy, but she thinks it's fine to put herself in jeopardy all the time. That's just selfish. She's now obsessed with her new changeling sister she has never met (she's over Fallon, the good, human/changeling/fae. I still don't get the changeling thing and how it connected to Fallon), and I understand she wants to rescue her, but in this case doesn't saving the world take precedence?

I really hate her friends. Another thing I can't stand is useless friends in books that refuse to go away for their protection, and just hang around to be put in peril. I know, they can do research, but I really don't like one-dimensional Rainey and Myles. I love a Buffy reference, but this series kinda overdoes it.

Okay so the positive; I liked the second half of the book much more than the first half. I struggled to finish book while reading the first half. It's just so boring at times. Even though I predicted the mystery of Carrick and Finley, I liked that element. It made things more interesting. That's what is keeping me going (and the fact I already got all 5 books).

Wow

Ok, that was one hell of a revelation. I love those so much when I'm reading, your reading and your brain is reading as fast as it can and your heart starts beating fast and your thinking about all the things in the story that really snap into place and then you think...brilliant, that was pretty clever. Outside of that reveal, the story is moving along quite nicely. This is a good story and I'm very much enjoying it.

Finally, I know what happened after the scene that made me scream ‘NO, NO, NO’ for a while and I think the third time was a charm and I didn’t get too crazy when I came face to face with the cliffhanger :) I read the last scene and hoping to read what was next, then BOOM! It was the end, which took me a couple of seconds to realize by the way. I was like ‘No, this can’t be it, went back again to make sure I wasn’t skipping anything :) Thank you Ms. Bennett for making me act like a crazed person :) As you might already figure out, I am obsessed with the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series and with each and every book series becomes more and more addictive. This series feels like the X-2 ride in Magic Mountain. I am not sure if you like roller coasters, but I love them. Why X-2? Because on that ride you are going backward and cannot see where you are going. Just like the ride, with these books, you have no idea where you are going. Yes there is a finish line so to speak and you know you are moving towards there but from start to end, you cannot predict anything. The only thing you can do is buckle up and enjoy the ride :)

Just a warning before the review; since I don’t want to ruin the story for anyone who hasn’t read yet, this review will be pretty superficial.

The third book of the series The Evolution of Fae and Gods picks up where Ms. Bennett left us high and dry at the end of A Discovery of Secrets and Fate. Finley still didn’t give up on her twin and while trying to figure out the prophecy, she is trying her best to find a way to save Fallon as well. I love how her friends, aka Scooby Gang, never leave her alone. Even when things get scary, they are there to support and encourage her. She has a lot of support around her and slowly she is gaining her confidence, but I think the main reason for her getting stronger and stronger is Carrick. I loved how their relationship evolved to something sweet but sizzling hot :) While they are trying to figure out the extend of Finley’s powers and what will happen with the prophecy, they will add more allies to the cause, some good, some evil. Oh, and we have a bit more of God interferences. I like Veda but Rune, I have no words for him. His hatred for Carrick is something else. Even though now I understand his reasoning, he is just too cruel. Also, since the first book, I was wondering why Carrick had disliked Finley from the moment he saw her or later on in the story why he was fighting hard to stay away from her, what was he afraid of? Yeap, now I got an answer to these questions and it was not something I expected, and it made me like Carrick even more. Even though some of the mysteries were revealed and I got some answers to my question, at the end of the book I had more questions thanks to Ms. Bennett’s breadcrumbs and clues.

From start to finish I was captivated by the story and couldn’t believe it when it ended. There are 2 more books to the series, and I am dying to know what will happen at the end but at the same time, I don’t want it to end. What a dilemma I am facing :) But still, I cannot wait to see where A Battle of Blood and Stone, which is the next book of the series and will be released on April 13th, will take us next.

Would I recommend this book: Yes
Would I re-read this book: Yes
Would I read future books by this author: Yes

The Evolution of Fae and Gods by Sawyer Bennett
Chronicles of the Veil #3

If you have not read books one and two of this series, I highly recommend you do so now before opening book three. This is definitely a series that must be read in order to be fully appreciated. In this book more information is gleaned, Carrick and Finley move their relationship up to the next level, and a whole lot happens that furthers the story and moves the characters toward what Fate has in store for them.

What I liked:
* Finley: strong, capable, sometimes makes dangerous immature choices, knows she wants Carrick and tells him so, is able to put her duty before her needs, is a good friend, is growing on many levels.
* Carrick: ancient but well preserved, a demi-god, gorgeous, brilliant, lethal, alpha, a good friend, loves deeply, intriguing.
* Zaid: a friend of Carrick’s that more is learned about him in this book with backstory that included meeting his father, I have a feeling there is even more to Zaid than has been revealed so far.
* Maddox and Lucien: “brothers” to Carrick, and also demi-gods – intriguing – wonder if they will each have a book of their own in the future.
* Myles and Rainey: best friends and roommates of Finley helping out where they can.
* Finding out, along with Finley, the magic and skills that she is learning to tap into.
* The world building and how it is progressing.
* The lighter moments that occurred from time to time - humor helps to break up intensity.
* The steamy moments scintillated and were in keeping with the story.
* Finding out more about Finley’s twin.
* Finding out more about Kymaris and her plots and plans.
* That so many in the story get along so well.
* Knowing that there will be two more books to look forward to
* Pondering what the prophecy may actually be, how the god/desses will impact the series…and what will happen next.

What I didn’t like:
* Kymaris: evil dark fae with a cunning ruthless plan that needs to be thwarted.
* What probably happened to Arwen in Faere.
* Knowing that a whole lot more evil shenanigans will happen before good (hopefully) overcomes evil.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read moore in this series? Definitely

Thank you to the author and InkslingerPR for the ARC – This is my honest review.

4.5 stars--THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS is the third instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult CHRONICLES OF THE STONE VEIL paranormal/urban fantasy series focusing on twenty-eight year old Finley Porter, and Carrick Byrne. THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book two A DISCOVERY OF SECRETS AND FATES.

SOME BACKGROUND: All of her life Finley Porter has been treated for hallucinations but days before her twenty-eighth birthday Finley is pulled into a world of the Light and Dark Fae by a man who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. An end of the world prophecy declares our heroine the savior, and in this Finley struggles with her fated destiny. As the gods watch the prophecy play out, some take it upon themselves to interfere where they do not belong.

Told from first person perspective (Finley) and third person (Carrick Byrne) THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book two wherein Finley’s life continues to implode. With her business in ruins, and the person responsible has set their sights on ruling the world, Finley, along with Carrick Byrne must work together in preparation to take down the Dark Fae determined to destroy them all. When Carrick goes in search of answers and information, Finley, and her friends, work behind the scenes scouring the ancient tomes for some hint of things to come. As Finley’s power continue to grow, her ability to connect with the Underworld reveals the possibility of someone once lost, found again.

THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS is a fast paced, intricately detailed and revealing story line. We learn about the connection between Carrick and Finley, and Carrick’s decision to walk away; some history of the Fae, changelings, angels and daemons, as well as The Fallen. Finley Porter continues to be a little TSTL (too stupid to live) in that she refuses to remain in the relative safety of Carrick’s home, a home where angels, demi-gods and daemons are at her service. Sawyer Bennett pulls the reader into an intricate and twisted story line about a fight for power and control; a tale of manipulation and magic, tragedy and loss. The premise is strong and haunting; the characters are animated and powerful; the sexual chemistry is sizzling and hot; the romance is seductive and passionate. THE EVOLUTION OF FAE AND GODS ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

In The Evolution of Fae and Gods we pick up right back where we left off at the end of book 2 of Chronicles of the Stone Veil Series, A Discovery of Secrets and Fate.

This series must be read in order:
The Revelation of Light and Dark (Chronicles of the Stone Veil Book 1)
A Discovery of Secrets and Fate (Chronicles of the Stone Veil Book 2)
The Evolution of Fae and Gods (Chronicles of the Stone Veil Book 3)
A Battle of Blood and Stone (Chronicles of the Stone Veil Book 4)
The Rise of Fortune and Fury (Chronicles of the Stone Veil Book 5)

The Evolution of Fae and Gods starts off with an explosive scene and did not stop delivering fire the entire time. This book kept me completely entranced the entire time I read it! There is so much more action, more answers on all accounts, more mysterious characters and more chemistry between Finley and Carrick!

My favorite scenes were between Finley and Carrick. Theirs is a relationship that looks as though it’s fated by the Gods. They become so much more connected in book 3 and we FINALLY get the answers we so desperately have been waiting for. I wanted to read some of the scenes over and over again. This has become my favorite series of all time. I can't get enough of Carrick and Finley.

Sawyer Bennet’s Chronicles of the Stone Veil Series is one of the best series I have ever read. I am obsessed with this story. The second this baby hit my kindle I devoured every word and couldn’t put it down until the insane ending scene.

We have 2 more books in this series, and I am biting my nails with anticipation as to how this will end. I can’t even bring myself to guess at this point as every page is full of excitement and danger.

Finley uncovers more about her sister as well as Carrick. I am always impressed by the strength of Finley. She is an amazing heroine. In the face of adversity, she is standing up and possibly sacrificing herself for the sake of the world. The emotions between Finley and Carrick are so strong. I feel so deeply for Carrick and everything he has been though. He treats Finley with such care and respect. Add that to everything else about him, he is the ultimate dream of anyone’s existence. Carrick is literally the perfect man… well, demi-God.

I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us. I can’t recommend this series enough. You have to see for yourself how perfect this series is. This is beyond a 5-star rating.

Chronique de Diana :

https://followthereader2016.wordpress...

description

Throughout this journey of discovery, search for meaning and fighting against evil forces, Finley would learn that this prophecy was beyond anything she could have imagined.
The story takes shape and all the things we read in the previous books are gaining importance. Of course everything is not revealed and the author managed to add more mystery to one already settled but giving small and subtle clues. I liked it a lot.

Finley gained on maturity and confidence in this part, not seeing as an outsider but part of the team. A mix of unpredictability, wild but also fragility and vulnerability.
I liked her so much more in this part with her ability to bring people together, her steely determination and loyalty to her friends.

What about Carrick… he surprised me. A complex personality at war, committed and dedicated to this prophecy, mostly to Finley. I appreciated to see him in a new light when you could understand how deep he was involved, his and Finley's role in this journey, their lives intricately intertwined since the moment they met.

What I appreciated the most about this series, was not only about the world the author created but how in each part, this increasing tension but adding some parts of lightness of sweetness into the story that melted perfectly.

Each ending was abrupt and left me hanging for more, but dammit this one brought all the freaking feels and totally mind-blowing. It was subsequently executed, fast paced and captivating. Can't wait for the next book!

The Evolution of Fae and Gods (Chronicles of the Stone Veil #3) by Sawyer Bennett

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is the third book and you have to read the previous books to understand what's happening.

Book 3 starts where book 2 leaves off. You are still wondering how much of the prophecy is going to be revealed in this book. I was not disappointed in how this book unfolded.

Carrick opens up much more to Finley about who he is, how he has lived his life and how he feels about her. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop and blossom. Carrick is carring and protective of Finley and everyone who means something to her.

Finley is still working out what her powers are or could become, but she is also trying to figure out whether or not she can save those around her. She wants nothing more than to cast out the changling. She wants her sister back.

There's danger, intrigue, more danger and love. You won't be disappointed in this installment. You learn a lot more about what's happening, going to happen and see how the gods meddle in the prophecy. However, you'll be cursing Bennett for not having 4 ready to go. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting patiently to see what's going to happen.

This novel is another remarkable and entertaining installment in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series. Expertly written with an original and captivating storyline, this novel picks up right where the last book left off. True to the previous two books, the author continues to create a fantastical world full of intrigue, suspense, action, and romance. The world building with in these pages is nothing short of phenomenal and I found myself fully engaged in the story. Finley remains a brave and strong heroine who occasionally makes poor choices. Carrick is still smoldering and delicious and I felt that his character was more developed. The romantic aspect is more prominent in this novel and Finley’s and Carrick’s attraction and connection cannot be denied. The author does an impeccable job with plot progress and the twist at the end was something that I didn’t see coming. As this is book 3 in the series, it does end on a cliffhanger and I cannot to find out what happens next!

I voluntarily read an early version of this novel. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Well! This book has everything you could want in the supernatural department. Action, intrigue, romance, Light Fae, Dark Fae (neither very nice) Daemons, Gods, Demi Gods. All coming together and forming one helluva story. New worlds, different dimensions and of course Carrick and Finlay. I’m loving the dance between them, slow burn is an understatement, and just when you think things possibly could work out. Curveball!! Then there’s The Scooby Gang, I love that reference, and I love that Finlay’s friends are brought into the fold. Add in Carrick’s ‘family’ and associates and we have a real mismatch of creatures, all coming together to fight evil. Let’s not forget ‘that’ ending! Wow! Where to go from here. I’m loving this series, and I can’t wait for the next instalment. Supernatural drama at its best.

This book pulls you right in. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, lies, and things not of this world.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
The Revelation of Light and Dark (Chronicles of the Stone Veil, #1)
A Discovery of Secrets and Fate (Chronicles of the Stone Veil #2)

This is even more of Finley’s story. She relies on Carrick but is that safe? She knows he is keeping secrets are they going to harm her in the end? She needs him to help her with not only her powers but also the battle that is sure to be the end. But the trust she gave so freely to him should she have? Is he really out to help her or not? She has so much to learn in order to win but is she learning all she should?

I recommend this story, and this author. Can’t wait to read the next story in this series!

This is the third installment of the series and you MUST read these in order. Fantastic writing and a well paced story but you can't pick this book up without having read all the previous books.

This book picks up right where book 2 ends. We are finally getting into the meat of this story. Secrets are revealed. The Prophecy is starting to unfold. Finley starts to coax her powers into being useful. Best of all, the tension between Carrick and Finely explodes! Those two are HOT!

Carrick keeps his gruff exterior for most everyone. He finally melts into Finley and they two of them just click. As I have noted before, the world building is fantastic! The author gets us immerged in something familiar yet not at all expected.

Too many secrets in this one to share much more in a review. Pick up the series and get lost for a day with a whole team of Fae and Gods. Loved it!

I received a free copy of this book from the author.

This is the third book in the Chronicles of the Stone Veil series. You MUST read the first two to be able to follow along in this book. Don't skip - you'll be totally lost.

I will say that this book took a bit for me to get into. It felt like it was dragging on and on until about half way through the book. Then it sped like lightening.

Finley & Carrick are learning lots of information about the prophecy she's expected to fulfill. Their relationship is solidified and I had a good laugh when they visited Faere this time...at Daphne's expense.

Anyway - several surprises - especially the ending. Get ready for a wild ride now people!

I loved this book! Carrick and Finely FINALLY take their relationship to the next level even though it might be a bad idea and we also get more chapters from Carrick's point of view. I'm all about dual point of view for books so I was very pleased that this one had more for Carrick. They are finally figuring what the dark fae's end game is but they are still unsure of how to stop her. And Finley connects with her sister in the Underworld. I couldn't even begin to write about everything that happened in this book because it was jam-packed with action that will lead to more action in the following books. I can't believe there are only two left in the series. It will go by quickly. Promise.

The twists, the turns...the cliffhanger. Okay, this one wasn’t so bad, because I know it’s not the end, but those twists were something else. And yeah, there might have been a little swooning...I’m more than ready for the next book!
