CAPS Biosignature Standards of Evidence White Paper Review Community Input Form

The Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences (CAPS) is in the process of conducting an independent review of the Nexus for Exoplanet System Science (NExSS) and Network for Life Detection (NfoLD) White Paper on Standards of Evidence for Life Detection.

To aid in information gathering and to ensure the Committee receives critical input from all stakeholders, we have created this medium by which input to CAPS, whether anonymous or attributed, can be submitted.

The Committee will read all submissions to this site. Any submission to CAPS using this form will comply with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). Your contact information will remain confidential; however, any statement submitted to the Panel will be made publicly available. Your submission may not include ITAR restricted data or other sensitive materials.

The deadline to submit input to the Committee is on Friday, February 18, 2022, after which this form will be closed.

File Name Format and Upload Instructions:
  • Do NOT use spaces or underscores in the file name.
  • Only PDF will be accepted.
  • There is a maximum single file size limit of 10 MB. Please limit your response to approximately 750 words or less for figures, data, and captions only and try to keep your file to a few MBs. The purpose of allowing attachments is so that relevant data/figures can be shared with the committee.
  • Please ensure that if you are submitting unpublished material that you have the necessary permissions to do so. If published material is submitted, please reference the original material or work.

Your contribution will be disseminated by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS).  As a contributor of a Response to request for community input to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Committee on Astrobiology and Planetary Sciences Biosignature Standards of Evidence White Paper Review Community Input Form (“Community Input Response”), I hereby grant a nonexclusive, no-cost, worldwide, transferable, irrevocable license authorizing both NAS and others acting on their behalf to publish, use, duplicate, disclose, and display my Community Input Response. (Nonexclusive means that you may grant these same rights to other parties without violating this licensing agreement.)
 
I understand and agree that the foregoing Community Input Response may be edited and used by NAS or their agents in whole or in part for the following purposes: (1) posting to the NAS website and other dissemination via the worldwide web and other electronic media; (2) listing in the Public Access File created for CAPS; and (3) reproduction in NAS’ print publications.
