Make Over: Art of Transformation: Presented by the Johnson Museum of Art
This spring's Professional Development series will focus on the experimental curricular gallery, Powering Exchange: Teaching Objects in Transformation, currently on display at the Johnson Museum. The exhibition was curated by the Museum's Education Department to emphasize thematic connections between works of art from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas across time periods. In ways not previously explored in preK-12 education initiatives at the Johnson, this exhibition brings together works of art from different parts of the world, in order to explore how art across cultures may confer power and prestige; facilitate trade and exchange, or effect bodily, social, or spiritual transformation. This installation is a laboratory for thinking about creative thematic connections to preK-12 curricula; join us for a free professional development series to experiment with approaches to teaching and learning with these artworks. There is no registration fee for this activity.
