When they were children Lily, Grayson and his wife were the best of friends. Lily never saw Grayson in a romance sorts as her best friend and he were perfect for each other and had been together since they were 10 years old. Now years later Grayson's wife has gotten Cancer and is on her deathbed. This has left Grayson as a widower with a five-year-old daughter Elle. Grayson decides to move back home to his family's ranch and raise Elle around the family. Of course, it's his hometown, so Lily is there and during the book, the pair start to spend more time together and Elle starts building a sweet relationship with Lily. When sparks fly and the chemistry is sizzling, will the pair take their friendship to a next level and out of the grief they are both feeling - create something beautiful, or will the guilt hit them the next day? I have to admit this was such a sweet second chance romance as both characters you could just feel the genuineness in them both and you know they both cared for their dead loved one and didn't want to dishonor her memory. If you love second chance romances and single dad's/parents, check out this sweet Whiskey and Sunset Nights by TL Anderson today.

*ARC received from author in exchange for my honest review. *

Whiskey and Sunset Nights will have you hugging your kindle while ugly crying in the best possible way. Losing the love of your life is almost impossible to get through. When life gives you a second shot at love do you risk everything, or do you run away from the possibilities?

Grayson pierce lost his wife to cancer nearly a year ago and moving home to southern Minnesota seems like the best option for him and his daughter Ella. Moving home is a way for him to be closer to his dad and brother but also about giving Ella family now that his wife is gone. He just wants to help on the farm and run his construction company, but plans change the minute Lily walks in.

Lily lost her best friend almost a year ago and running her little bookstore is the only thing keeping her going. Having Grayson and Lily back home means that a small part of her best friend is still there with her. She loves being someone that Lily can look up to but then there is Grayson. He is her best friends’ husband or was and now new feelings are starting to emerge, and Lily has no idea what to do.

As Lily and Grayson's friendship starts to grow, they start to see that this could be something real but could them falling in love cause more harm than good? Emotions are heightened, hearts are put on the line and this little family that could be is trying to do the best they can to get over the grief that still seems so present.

This book might have shattered me a bit, but it also put me back together. Finding love after loss seems impossible but when that one person walks back into your life and changes everything you hold on and don't let go. Whiskey and Sunset Nights is a story of family and the courage to love again after loss.

3 short and sweet stars

This is a standalone in the Single Dad’s Romance series (all by different authors), and I loved the sound of this story – a single Dad returning to his home town after the death of his wife, and falling for her childhood best friend.

The emotions hit you right from the beginning when we are introduced to Grayson as he is saying goodbye to his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart. It’s so tragic, and he is left broken by the loss. A year later and he has packed up his life to return to his family home across the country to create a fresh start for himself and his 5 year old daughter, Ella.

Lily is the best friend of Grayson’s wife, and she is also grieving her loss. She has always been a part of their lives – even from across the country - and she’s determined to be there for Gray and little Ella. But being with them again, allowing Ella to open up to her, and growing closer to the both of them leads to so much more than either of them were ever expecting.

“I don’t want to just live life.”
… “Me either” … “I want more.”

I love the idea of this story, but it’s such a short book that, for me, it wasn’t long enough for the romance to really develop and for me as a reader to get invested into the story. It's a really short read (only 124 pages), and it’s fast moving, so there’s no real build-up to the romance. Grayson and Lily are in the same town, and suddenly there’s an attraction that neither of them can ignore. There’s not a lot of time spent together first, no deep conversations, I didn't feel that tingle of anticipation that I love about romance, just ‘boom... done’. And even though I knew it was coming, it pretty much came out of nowhere.

There is a nice amount of time with Grayson and Lily together once they actually start seeing each other. We seem them happy and together (and yes, there’s sexy time), and spending time with little Ella, which was really sweet.

It's a lovely story, and I enjoyed the writing, but I feel like the author tried to put too much story into such a short book. If it was a full-length novel, and time was given to develop the characters and their chemistry, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

Still a sweet read though – 3 stars.

A new author and a single dad can’t get much better in my view and let me just say this book was everything I expected and so much more. Grayson and Lily story ticked my boxes and touched me on so many levels as I joined them on their new journey.
Grayson has moved back home with his 5 year old daughter Ellie after losing his wife to cancer, struggling to try and give Ella some sort of normality it seems like the only answer. Lily was his wife’s best friend and she takes Ella under her wing in the hope of keeping her friends memories alive. As this couple spend time together their casual friendship slowly turns into so much more but are they destined for nothing more than a few shots of whiskey and sunset nights……
This book has all the feels, the characters are easy to love and relate to, Ella has some classic one lines that only a child can deliver and I found myself hoping and wishing Grayson and Lily got the HEA they so deserved. I read this book in one sitting and this journey s certainly going to stay with me long after the final word was read, a beautifully written love story that’s emotional, sweet, entertaining as well as heartwarming and heartbreaking. I loved everything about this read and I highly recommend it to all romance lovers.

5 Star Review of Whiskey and Sunset Nights by T.L. Anderson
T.L. Anderson is a new author to me and I have no idea why I have not come across this authors books before. This is Grayson Pierce, his daughter Ella and Lily Dean‘s story and what a story it was.

Having lost his wife to cancer, single dad Grayson moves with his daughter back home to Southern Minnesota. He never expected to be a single dad to his 5 year old daughter, but life doesn't always go as planned. Lily, was his best friends wife and having them back in town helps ease the ache of losing her for Lily.

As their friendship blossoms, feelings become complicated. Can both Grayson and Lily come to terms with the losses in their lives, the guilt their new feelings are bringing up and in doing so get their own chance at a happily ever after?

I love second chance at love stories, throw in a single dad, an adorable little girl and a small town and I am hooked. I was invested in their story from the first chapter and was cheering for them to get their happily ever after.

Whiskey and Sunset Nights is a story of overcoming loss, of learning to live again, family and opening yourself up to a second chance at love. It was emotional and had me smiling as well as crying at times.

Whiskey and Sunset Nights by T.L. Anderson
Single Dad’s Series

Emotions aplenty as I read this book. I was swept in and stayed invested throughout this short heartfelt deeply moving book.

What I liked:
* Gray: such a good person, loving father, grief-stricken widow, wonderful son and brother, great friend, skilled builder ~ a man who endures and lives his life to the fullest no matter what comes his way.
* Ella: five-six year old daughter that misses her mother, is filled with love and life and joy, very active, accepting, a great character.
* Missy: The deceased wife of Gray and the best friend of Lily – a woman I admired and was sorry had died too soon. She was a bright light and enduring positive presence in more than one life.
* Lily: bookstore owner, best friend of Lily, good friend of Gray’s, friend to Grays brother and father, open and caring and giving and helpful ~ She was perfect as a person and character and love interest in this story.
* Asher: Gray’s younger brother, caterer, fun-loving, supportive ~ liked him
* Gray’s father: an anchor and safe place to land for Gray when he needed to change things after Missy died.
* The small town setting
* That there was no great drama but instead a slow warm friendship that grows into so much more.
* The way the aspect of grief was handled
* That it felt “real” and believable
* That there was a happy ending

What I didn’t like:
* That Missy died…and being reminded that too many people are taken by cancer long before they and their loved ones are ready to have them leave.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Yes

This story was fast paced as he lost his wife and then I felt they were together. Did they have feelings before that they suppressed? Not sure. The story has laughs, secrets, grief, and heartbreak.

This is Lily and Grayson’s story. He moves back home after losing his wife. He needs help in raising his daughter. He is working to keep himself sane. Lily lost her best friend and knew her friend would want her to help with her daughter. She helps Ells with her grief and works on her own grief every day. The more time Lily is with Ella the more she runs into Grayson. They were casual friends but something else is pulling them to each other now. But is it the right time? Or are they just reacting to the grief and reaching out to the closest thing to what they both lost? After all Lily was his wife’s best friend. Is that why he is feeling more for her? Or could he be falling for her all on her own?

I recommend this book.

Whiskey and Sunset nights is a bittersweet read. A story of finding the love of your life, to then lose them and finding love again. It takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. It felt like i went through it all with Grayson. I cried at the start, it got better then i cried again so by the end of the book i was both elated and emotionally drained. My word does this tug at your heartstrings. It was a lovely, romantic 2nd chance at love story. I genuinely loved all the characters in it and i had my fingers crossed throughout reading that Grayson would get his HEA ending. This was a really good read

I will warn you that the first couple of chapters of Whiskey and Sunsets are gut-wrenching. My heart broke for Grayson and his daughter Ella as he was trying to make the right decision. If anyone needed a new and fresh start, it was these two. Moving back to his dad's ranch was the right thing. It also brought him back and closer to his deceased wife's best friend Lily. I enjoyed watching them get closer and I loved that they took it slow. I was rooting for them as they worked through their growing feelings for each other and the guilt of feeling like they were betraying Missy's memory. This is definitely one of my favorites form the series and one I highly recommend.

I think this is the most emotional book I've read out of the books in the series. Lily, Grayson and Ella will definitely touch your heart. However, the relationship shift between Lily and Grayson was a little bit abrupt. There was minimal build-up to it IMO. But still, I enjoyed this quick and easy read.

Whiskey and Sunset Nights is the first book that I've read by TL Anderson and I thought that it was an adorable romance about two people having to move on after losing an important person in their lives.
Grayson Pierce has gone through the worse thing any person can image, he lost his beloved wife, his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life to cancer. After a year Grayson has decided he needs to move back to his family home because he can't stand to be in the house that they shared together anymore, he also needs the help of his family to raise his five year old daughter. As soon has he moves back home he sees his childhood friend and his wife's BFF, Lily Dean and he starts to feel things towards her that he's never felt before...
When Lily sees her best friends husband again after loosing her to cancer she is determine to help any way she can, and she definitely wants to help keep her friends' memory alive for her daughter. But as she spends more time with Grayson the feelings that she had for him when they were children start to resurface. While Lily thought she had long buried these feelings but now that her friend is gone she can't help but feel guilty, that she's betraying her friend's memory. And as much as Lily tries to distance herself from Grayson she can't stay away from him for long and their mutual feelings begin to grow and both Grayson and Lily must struggle with their feelings of guilt for their perceived betrayal towards their friend and wife. Can these two put aside their guilt to have a happy future together?

Oh, man. Have the tissues handy for this one. Grayson and Lily had one big thing tying them together, but what will they do to move on in life when that one thing is gone? When Grayson’s wife and Lily’s best friend passes, Grayson heads back to his hometown to raise his daughter among family. He just wasn’t prepared for his heart and body wanting Lily. And he handles it badly for a time. So badly. But he sucks it up and realizes that Lily could easily be his future, so he makes it right.

As for Lily, she’s not sure if she even should feel this way about the guy her best friend loved, but sometimes the heart just knows better. So she makes her way with Grayson and when he hurts her, she gives him a chance to explain. Once they’re on the same page, it’s a matter of making sure the important people in their lives will be okay with this development also.

I loved Asher so much in this story. He was the comedic relief, the supporting brother, and the best friend Lily needed all in one package. Add in the fact that this book flowed much like life, without added OTT drama, and it made for a very enjoyable read. Especially the revelation at the end. Oh, that got me. In the most bittersweet, yet good way possible. So be ready to expect some unexpected here because that’s what you’ll get.

What an opening couple of chapters!! Pretty heart stopping for myself. I cried quite a bit from the beginning for personal reasons. But just the opener won me over in that moment.

Grayson has gone through one of the most devastating moments a person can go through and my soul shattered for him. Not only was he doing the best he could for himself but he also had to think about his young daughter which when you read this one line you will sob uncontrollable like I did. (I’m not putting it here but…just read the book and you will know!)

Lily isn’t a bad person for being the friend they need during this time of pain. I have to say I love their friendship but I also love her friendship with Asher so much I kind of hope for more from him!! Lily is the type to see what she wants but seems to second guess herself the whole time but not wanting to apologize for how she feels either.

I have to say that the speed in which everything happened was too fast for me. After losing my own mom in my thirties is no way the same as losing her at five but that was too quick for my liking of him moving on. I get you wanted this book to be a certain length but personally I disliked the timeline completely. I didn’t take off starts for this though because while the timeline offended me, it was the story I was swept up in. Congrats!!

::: SPOILER-FREE REVIEW :::

Rating: 4 STARS!!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐

Grief affects each of us differently. After the death of his wife, moving home seemed like the best option for Grayson and his daughter Ella.

Lily lost her best friend to cancer. She runs a little bookstore and it's the only thing keeping her going. Grayson and Lily are back home. She is happy to get just a small part of her best friend.

Grayson was her best friend's husband and now feelings are starting to emerge, and Lily has no idea what to do.

I feel like this whole book was 'angst done right'. It pushes you to the very limits but doesn't actually break rules. I'm usually a bit nervous with this kind of books because it's pretty easy to take these situations too far in the wrong direction but I really think that the author handled this story so well.

She made me care, she made me nervous, cry , angry, and frustrated, but she also made me laugh, swoon, fall in love, and genuinely like these characters. She made me want to root for them to find their happy ending. She broke my heart and put it back together in the best possible way.

Seriously, I COULD NOT STOP READING! I loved every fucking minute of it.

Everyone just... READ THIS BOOK!! You will fucking love it!!

This book was much more tame than what I normally read but sometimes you just need a sweet and easy romance to read and enjoy. What I loved about Lily and Grayson was that everything easily fell into place for them. Even with the feelings of sadness and guilt, there was still this incredible foundation they had already built with one another after knowing each other so long and being a part of each other's lives as they grew up. There was no need for them to get to know one another because they practically knew each other by heart--their habits, their personality, the memories they remembered with fondness. Their relationship past friendship level was built out of heartache, but sometimes it's easiest to relate to someone who is experiencing or who has experienced the same things that you have. I loved how they were able to be there for each other and for Grayson's daughter Ell as well. Healing is such a tough process sometimes and it made my heart warm to see all three of these characters want to move on, know that they aren't replacing anyone in their lives despite things changing, and not be afraid to be whole again. They wanted to live and enjoy their life to the fullest and begin to make new memories while still remembering the old ones. Very cute read!

After watching the his wife slowing slip away due to cancer, Grayson was struggling to get through each day. The only bright side of his life was his family, and that included a beautiful little girl. When he made the decision to move back to where he grew up, he didn't know he would fall for someone he was already close with.

Lily has mourned for her best friend and can't believe that she is really gone. When she finds out that Grayson and his daughter are moving back, she is excited to get to spend time with Ella who looks just like her mama. The more she is around Grayson, the more she is having trouble resisting what is building between them.

I hurt for Grayson, his loss was very much felt and it took me a bit to absorb it. When he finally decides to move back, I couldn't help but want him and Ella to find a HEA. Lily was the perfect person to help him move on. She knew everything about their lives and was more than willing to help them live again. This was a great story about learning to love after a horrible loss and it was definitely a good read. The author did a great job of showing respect to Grayson's late wife while growing the relationship between him and Lily. The ending was perfect and I couldn't have been happier for them!

"We were made out of heartache, both of us rising from the ashes of despair to find happiness in each other."
This quote sums up the beautifully written story of Grayson and Lily.
This book is so heartfelt that I cried, laughed, and smiled throughout. T.L. Anderson does a fantastic job in telling a story that deals with a very tough issue....the loss of a spouse and a best friend. I absolutely adored Grayson and Lily as their struggle to move on with their lives after this death is totally relatable.
Grayson is such an admirable father to little six year old Ella. He knows any decisions he makes going forward must include her. He is totally unselfish and great with her. Lily, too, is wonderful with Ella, but knows as much as she loves this little girl, she will never replace her momma, who also was Lily's best friend.
I loved everything about this book. The pace is perfect, the emotions jump off the pages, and all of the characters were terrific. If I could give it more stars, I would.

Another great addition to The Single Dad's romance series! I have really been enjoying this series. Each book is written by a different author, so you get a taste of different styles. But each one does a great job of capturing your attention and pulling you into the story. This one was no different. Grayson is doing his best to go on with his life and be the father that his daughter needs after losing his wife to cancer. He moves back home to Minnesota thinking that will help. Lily, in turn is grieving the loss of her best friend, Grayson's wife. When Grayson moves back home with his daughter Ella, Lily is determined to be there for little Ella. And as she does so, she grows closer to Grayson. But can they open their hearts to love? This story takes you on an emotional journey and will melt your heart. A beautiful story with wonderful characters that you won't be able to put down. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author!

Notes/Opinion (personal): slight spoiler below

I've read most of the books from this series and this is my favorite. I'm usually not a fan of the type of story where a character gets together with a close friend/sibling but this one worked for some reason. I felt the tragedy and the desire to continue living, not just existing. It was a short read (for me) but very enjoyable and I would recommend.

Wow! Make sure you have your Kleenex box close and handy. Whiskey and Sunset nights will have you crying and smiling. Pulling at your heart strings. Grayson and his daughter move back home to live with his dad and brother after having to go through a devastating life changing experience. He’s not sure whether he’s making the right decision or not but feels they just can’t stay on the coast anymore. The day they arrive at his childhood home one of his best friends arrives and Grayson just can’t keep Lily out of his mind. The feelings he’s having scare him but also calm and settle him but does Lily feel the same and what will his daughter Ella say or feel. This is an amazing book filled with heartache, making it through to the other side and living life. Favourite line “love you times eleventy million and to the stars” T.L. Anderson is amazing!!

Grayson lost his wife to cancer and is having a hard time with his new life of being a single dad to a 5 yr old daughter, Ella. Feeling the only way to keep going is moving back to his family farm in southern Minnesota where his dad and brother live. Taking care of Ella and running his construction company helps to keep his mind off of things.
Lily Dean was best friends with Grayson's wife and likes having Grayson and Ella back in her hometown. Lily runs her own bookstore and lets Ella come in to help her which helps both of them in coping with the loss.
As time moves forward Lily and Grayson grow closer. Will this turn into something more and what will Ella think about it?

Tender and sweet:
This was a touching story and my heart nearly broke in the beginning.
Single dad Grayson moved back home after the loss of his late wife. It was nice seeing both him and his daughter find healing and love again. It was also sweet seeing Grayson and Lily move from childhood friends to lovers.
This book was rather short at only 124 pages which resulted in the storyline feeling rushed at times. However the author managed to pack a lot in nevertheless and I enjoyed this sweet story about accepting love after loss.

This is Book 6 in the Single Dad's Romance Series. It is an emotional romance between Grayson and Lily. These characters are likeable, the connection strong, the chemistry hot, and the unique plot makes for an enjoyable read. It is a love story with drama, humor, sweetness, frustrating moments, and love, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Overall, it is a quick read with heart, heat and a happy ending. It can be read as a standalone but you enhance your reading pleasure if you read the other books in the series.

It’s been a year since Grayson lost his wife and their five-year-old daughter Ella lost her mother. He wants to give his daughter the best life he can, and he believes that means moving back to his hometown so that they can be close to his family.

Lily was devastated when her best friend passed away, but she is determined to honor her by being there for her daughter and her husband. She knew that Ella would claim her heart, but she didn’t expect Grayson to as well.

This is an emotional story about love, healing and new beginnings as Grayson, Lily and Ella fight to overcome their pain so that they can have a future together.

This was such a beautiful story. My heart just broke for Ella and Grayson. I needed the tissues because the tears were flowing. Towards the end boy did I need those tissues! I gobbled up this book in a day. I just couldn't put it down. Lily and Grayson stole my heart with their heartbreaking yet healing story. Little Ella is so adorable. She's another one that had me reaching for the tissues. She's a strong little girl, but she has her moments of vulnerability. This is a book you do not want to miss out on. It's a book that brings all the feels and pulls on the heartstrings. For me it's a must read!

FLURRY OF EMOTIONS

T.L. Anderson has made me experience bits of the hollowness of grief, the beauty of acceptance, and the pureness of peace and happiness. I can't find the words to describe the aches and longing as I broke alongside Grayson, understood with Ella, and healed with them all. There is so much love between Lily and Grayson. From their lifelong friendship to an unbreakable bond of love. Missy was there with them through it all. I cried many times, silent tears, but a flurry of emotions wreaking havoc within my heart. I absolutely enjoyed this book, one of the most heart-touching and emotional from the Single Dad's Romance Series, definitely rereading!

What a beginning, so emotional and very well written. As the story progresses, you can not help but fall in love with the characters. You definitely want to root for Grayson and Lily, as they decide how to progress their relationship. I am a sucker for horses, so having them in the story made it even better. This book definitely grabs you by the heartstrings, and is well worth the read. I highly recommend it, especially if you like second chance books.

I love this story. It gave me feels right from the beginning. I love seeing the relationship between Grayson and his daughter Ella.

The relationship between Ella and Lily is beautiful and something that they both need. I was glad to see that all decisions made keep Ella at the forefront of everyone's mind.
The story keeps you reading to see what happens next just to see if they will keep fighting what they were feeling or give in to them and just be happy.

I was floored by the last chapter in the story and it had me in tears again.
