Hull FC suffer huge Jake Connor blow as his fate is revealed

Hull FC have issued the following injury update on members of the first-team squad.

The Black & Whites can confirm that full-back Jake Connor will be sidelined for ten to twelve weeks with a medial ligament injury sustained in Sunday’s defeat to Wakefield Trinity.

Connor left the field with the injury midway through the second-half, and didn’t return to the action.

Speaking on the injury, Hull FC head coach Brett Hodgson said: : “Jake has sustained a grade two medial ligament strain, which is going to leave him sidelined for up to three months.

“Thankfully the injury doesn’t require surgery, so Jake will begin his rehab immediately.

“We’re thankful that he’ll potentially get the chance to feature again at the back end of the season for us.”

Injury to Connor opens up an opportunity to fellow full-back Jamie Shaul, who is expected to fill the void left by his teammate in the coming weeks.

“Jamie has got the opportunity now to step forward and show the class he possesses,” Hodgson added.

“He, and the other players around him, have got the quality to help us move forward and continue progressing as a group over the coming months.”

Elsewhere in the squad, both Ligi Sao and Carlos Tuimavave are expected to be available for selection for this weekend’s trip to face Catalans Dragons in the South of France having missed last weekend’s match against Wakefield.

Ben McNamara meanwhile is still progressing with his back injury, and expected to return to action in three weeks time.
