I enjoyed this entertaining and engaging romance with drama, twists, surprises, chemistry, trust issues, and a problem ex. The MCs are defined, hard-working, intelligent, determined, and perfect for one another. The secondary characters are also very good and engaging. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

3.5 rounded up to 4!

Thank you to Booksirens and Roxy Blue - I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Fiona's life is a chaotic mess of work devotion, a flower supplier, and a controlling ex, making her story full of ups and downs. This was a great read! I enjoyed the stark difference between Quade and Bo; however, at times, I felt the 'Southern Charm' was laid on a bit thick for Bo, making it seem cheesy rather than sincere.

I love a multi-perspective read and liked the varying chapter lengths - I just wish some of the time gaps were bridged a bit more. I would miss the paragraph break depending on where it fell on the page and would have to figure out where I was when picking back up into the next scene.

Overall this was a great romance mixed with a thriller read, and I was sucked in from the beginning. I'm eager to read more from debut author Roxy Blue and definitely be checking out the second book in this series following Fiona's employee Maxine!

Roxy Blue's first novel is a hit with specks of suspense, romance, mean ex's and a hot alpha male. Fiona owns her own flower store, Fiona's Flowers, and orders flowers from flower supplier, Bo. They have a very flirtatious relationship over the phone while she places her order. She doesn't see any harm in expressing her feelings over the phone. So as she plans to attend her annual Flower convention she finds out Bo will be attending. She wonders if he will live up to the phone call and she is nervous to meet him for the first time. Even though she is also dealing with her crazy ex as she boards a plane to Florida for the convention. Once at the convention she mets up with Bo and they seem to have this cosmic pull to each other, like their lives have been connected all along. Fiona doesn't know how she will ever leave him when the convention she over. So how does she or do they stay togehter? You must read this book to figure out how Fiona meets the challenges of her immediate attraction to Bo and her crazy ex's need to keep her close.

Roxy Blue’s comedic dialogue had me laughing by page two, but I was caught by surprise as the plot started to unfold. I quickly became invested in Fiona’s character and, admittedly, fell in love with her sexy suitor from Florida. For anyone wanting to bask in a flower-filled thriller romance while having a laugh here and there, I highly recommend this beautifully illustrative read.

Remember to breathe... the yoga instructor repeats. All Fiona can think about are the headlines about the twelve naked women who forgot to breathe as they lie sprawled out on the floor covered in paint during an art therapy session.

But instead of the calm this exercise is supposed to induce, all she feels is rage that Quade had just signed her up for the retreat without speaking with her. Her ex-husband seems to have a habit of that lately.

The only thing that seems to calm her are the thoughts of the annual floral show in Florida where she will finally get to put a face to one of her floral vendors. This is the first time she has seen his name listed on the program and she needs to put a face on the sexy voice she has fallen for.

I have mixed feelings about this book. Overall I liked the storyline but was confused about why everyone kept referring to Quade as an ex. I was having a hard time relating to the characters at times because their reactions didn't mesh with the circumstances or their past feelings. I like the thought of Bo, but it was really hard to picture him as anything other than a farmer who lived in a shed as we weren't given much more information than that other than acres of flowers.

Fiona’s Fury, by Roxy Blue, presents an intricate narrative exploring themes of love, jealousy, and the pursuit of freedom. Central to this story is Fiona Turner, a character skillfully depicted as navigating the complexities of a constrictive marriage and an emerging, intriguing connection. The storyline gains momentum as Fiona's husband, Quade, grapples with intense jealousy and anger, precipitated by a florist's interest in Fiona. This scenario unfolds into an engrossing journey through human emotions, with Quade's insecurities prominently featured, threatening the stability of their outwardly perfect marriage.

Fiona, depicted as the CEO of a florist company, is a blend of resilience and independence. Yet, she finds herself drawn into a complicated relationship with a mysterious new character. Blue deftly portrays Fiona’s internal conflicts, offering readers a window into the intricacies of her emotional landscape. The narrative escalates as Fiona considers leaving her domineering husband, introducing unexpected twists that engage the reader. The florist's role transcends a mere romantic interest, symbolizing the emergence of repressed desires and challenging traditional societal expectations. Roxy Blue succeeds in delivering a story that adeptly dissects the nuances of love, jealousy, and self-revelation. The prose is both vivid and engrossing, maintaining a tension that resonates throughout the book. Incorporating multiple perspectives, the novel offers a multifaceted view into its romance thriller plot, making for a compelling read.

Fiona's Fury is a novel that effectively captures the reader’s interest, leaving one eager to discover the unfolding events. Ideal for those who appreciate stories that question societal norms and delve into emotional complexities, this book is a notable addition to the romance thriller genre, offering an unconventional and emotionally resonant narrative.

For a first novel, there are many very good bits about this book. I was chuckling to myself with in the first few paragraphs. The story flows, the characters and well developed, side characters are interesting (possible future books) and there's none of the spelling and grammar problems that often plague new / young authors.

However, I've put off writing this because when I first finished the book I was actually pretty angry.

No spoilers, but I felt that both the main characters (particularly Fiona) accept behavior that is, at the very least, detrimental to themselves and at the worst allowing / tolerant of abuse.

I understand the story needs to move forward, but I felt it could have been done without the 'too stupid to survive' vibe I got at times.

That is not to say don't read, but just be aware that there are some behaviours displayed by the characters that I feel are socially irresponsible.

Personally I refuse to read 'bully' romance for the same reason. Showing people tolerating abusive behaviour 'because they care about me' is acceptable to me ONLY when the character has a realisation that it is wrong and moves forward. Hopefully this includes consequences for the character being abusive. Despite the ending, I did not feel that this was address adequately.

3☆ because the writing was well done - unfortunately the story went a way that I couldn't condone.

The Review

This was a compelling and enthralling romance novel. The author does a remarkable job of drawing the reader into the narrative with rich character development and powerful imagery in the author’s writing style. The complex journey that the protagonist Fiona goes through as she navigates the negative impact of her ex-husband on her life, the growing feelings and emotions she develops for Bo, and her journey to fulfill her needs make this a memorable trip.

The heart of the book rests in the dynamic story the author developed. The way the author showed how outside forces saw her relationship with her ex and his seemingly “nice guy” persona and how that broke down in the face of his jealousy was just brilliant storytelling and true to life for many people as well, adding a sense of familiarity to the story that readers will be drawn to. The contrast of her relationship with Bo added a heat and passion to the story that will draw readers further into this narrative.

The Verdict

Author Roxy Blue’s “Fiona’s Fury” is a must-read romance novel that is mesmerizing, passionate, and entertaining. The twists and turns in the story and the protagonist's emotional journey will keep readers engaged until the final pages.

Fiona's Fury is one of those books that has you simultaneously wanting to scream at the heroine for being so foolish and desperate to know what's going to happen next. Fiona is described as being a strong and capable woman. She is far from that. Since separating from her husband (nine years ago?) she has let him be a big part of things, never fearing that when she finally moves on, he might not be so keen. When she meets and begins to fall for farmer and flower grower Bo, her ex turns psycho.
While I don't hate the idea of remaining friends with an ex in a book like this and sometimes even people we've known for a long time don't show their true colours, when they do, I like my heroines to listen. Time and time again Fiona went back for more. I was almost shouting at her, for goodness sake woman, show some self-preservation!
This isn't a bad read, as I say I was keen to know what was going to happen next. I liked Bo and Fiona together, her foolishness was frustrating though. I also couldn't decide how old the characters were supposed to be. At times they seemed to be almost childlike and then at others almost retirement age.
I think that this was a good debut novel and worth a read, even if you do find yourself despairing at Fiona like I did.

Fiona's Fury is a great read. Fiona a talented floral artist and owner of a floral shop, has worked hard to see her dreams come true. She has an eye for floral talent and uses that to make her mark in the floral industry. A Floral Convention is the place where a lot of things happen. Fiona finally gets to meet one of her "suppliers" and is smitten. But with her complicated love life, she is sure there is nothing that will come of this new "interest". But in the book industry, never say never. What ensues is the developing story of Fiona's past, present and possibly her future too.

Add to the mix, her father who is always disappointed in her, until she marries her first love. Then the family ties (money and estates) take a turn in favor of her husband. What will he do as their relationship takes a nose dive and everything is up in the air? Will Fiona give into the "family demands" or strike out looking to her own wants and desires?

I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who likes family drama and a love story too! Well done!

Fiona’s Fury is a compelling and engrossing page turner.

Though Fiona, our protagonist, can be fiery and unpredictable, deep down we know she is longing for a real connection, love. Her romantic interest, Bo, is a heart-throb of a country boy who already feels Fiona is the one. The catch? Quade, Fiona’s awkward, then creepy, then ultimately psychopathic ex-husband.

The well-paced storytelling keeps the pages turning. The dual narrative writing style gives you insight into both Fiona’s and Bo’s inner life. Without spoiling too much, the first half of the book guides you to the love interest's first fateful meeting, while the second half leaves you on the edge of your seats wondering if they will make it!

The chemistry between Bo and Fiona feels authentic and sincere. It is easy to root for them as a couple. The romance scenes are tastefully written, yet sexy and I was left wanting more passionate encounters.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a slightly atypical romance. The storytelling is compelling, the characters are complex, and the suspense is real!

Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book from Stress Free Book Marketing in exchange for an honest review.

Content Warning: this review discusses stalking and abuse.

When I read a book, it might take me a while to get into it. Something has to happen to make me invested in the story. On the other hand, there are times that I’ve gotten on board right away. This may be because of the premise, or it could be the author’s writing that immediately sucks me in. The latter occurred when I read "Fiona’s Fury" by Roxy Blue – a chilling, sardonic book that had me scared and laughing.

Roxy Blue, Fiona’s Fury (2024) 325p

A book to be appreciated by independent and strongminded women. When I read this book, I found another character that I could relate to. Fiona is a woman who gets everything done and puts pride in her work. Despite her strong façade, she also has a weakness. She finds it difficult to relax even if her friends recommend a relaxation day. Also, her ex cannot let her go. In between of these romance and comedy, there is a suspense element that can make any woman’s heart skip a beat. Fiona’s Fury is Roxy Blue’s debut novel and everyone is encouraged to read it.

Fiona's Fury is set in Fairfield Iowa, where I met the author Roxy Blue. Her main character, Fiona, is like many women in the town. Strong, independent and enlightened. But even women like that need to be reminded to breathe! I recommend this book to anyone who has been in a relationship, especially with someone who makes you question reality. Although the ending is predictable, Fiona's path to get there is very unexpected- along with being suspenseful, sinister and sensual. Fiona wasn't easy to like at first, but by the end of the book Roxy helped create to an understanding and even an emotional bond with her.
I give this book 5 of 5 stars and can't wait for the next one!

Brought Me Back To Reading🥰
I have to start out by saying I’m not much of a reader and wanted to start again, so glad I picked this book. Love the bigger print and how descriptive it is. I’m not one to sit still for very long but this book did the trick and kept my attention which isn’t an easy thing to do. I loved the characters and felt a great connection with them and their stories. Their personalities were well developed, and I found myself laughing, crying, and feeling all of their emotions along with them. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting new book!

Fiona’s Fury is a thriller romance. I had a few things that I didn’t like about the book but overall it kept me compelled to keep turning pages. Maybe I had issue with a successful business woman letting a man control her. And the nursery owner Bo, just seemed a tad over done. Although he sounds dreamy. The story kept you guessing and I wasn’t trusting anyone. Definitely worth a read.

This is a book that you really don't want to miss out on reading, I loved everything about this book. Fiona has a complex and challenging relationship with her ex husband of nine years. He's still controlling most of her life, he's still her partner in her flower shop, she still lives in a house he bought her but he still owns and she can't seem to find an easy way out. Her relationship with her parents is hardly worth mentioning as she not the son the always wanted. Taking her new employee to an exhibition with wholesalers and retailers attending, with a floral competition, the win could really help build her business so she can finally be in a position to be more independent. Bo has always known his soul mate was out there, he dreamt of her regularly and now he'd found a way of seeing her. Attending the exhibition was an easy option although it put him totally out of his comfort zone. He was happiest on his flower farm with his few employees and friends. Star crossed lovers, controlling ex's unexplained happenings, this book has it all. Finally is a hard person to explain she's vulnerable, easily manipulated yet at the same time she's a strong independent well put together person. Bo is the perfect gentleman if you over look his extremely large frame, he's handsome, charming and a very caring person. If you love intrigue, passion and compelling behaviour this book has it all. I haven't read any previous books by this author but I will certainly from now on.
