The Bureau for Economic Research (BER) is one of the oldest economic research institutes in South Africa. It was established in 1944 and has been conducting Business Tendency Surveys since 1954.

We would like to invite you to take part in our business surveys. As a token of our appreciation, you will receive a summary of the survey results each quarter and receive invitations to exclusive (online) events. The survey results are keenly watched by South African policymakers, so your participation makes a direct contribution to the national policy discourse.

Your participation will take up little of your time and the survey is completed online. No financial or actual production figures are required, merely an indication of annual directional movements. For more on the survey method, click here.

Currently, the BER surveys the South African building and construction, retail, wholesale, motor trade and manufacturing sectors, as well as businesses operating in the hospitality, business services, real estate and transport sectors.
