First IBM development centre opened in Novi Sad

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic today opened the first IBM development centre in Novi Sad, announcing that this is a big day for Serbia because we are opening the development centre of the largest global company that is the forerunner in the entire IT industry.

Brnabic pointed out that this is also the first centre where technologies for IBM's needs will be developed.

The arrival of IBM in this way is a great signal and speaks of the fact that we are an important destination on the world business map, Brnabic said and reminded that IBM in Belgrade only sold its solutions until now, but that it had never developed technology for its needs.

The Prime Minister noted that two weeks ago US Ambassador in Belgrade Christopher Hill and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic opened the representative office of one of the largest companies for electric vehicles, Rivian, and that the IBM development centre is now opening.

It is of great importance for our economic growth and this is an incentive for us to believe in our talents. It is already being announced that this office will continue to grow. We thank IBM for believing in us, the Prime Minister stressed and said that we will not disappoint them.

General Manager of IBM for Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albania Nikola Polic noted that software will be developed in the company's office in Novi Sad.

This is of great importance for local IBM, because we are finally opening another office in Serbia, which will deal with very specific technology development. This is important for Serbia, because it shows that it is an excellent place for the arrival of large technology companies. Thanks to this development centre, we will be able to provide better services and support to users in the wider region, Polic pointed out.

Mayor of Novi Sad Milan Djuric pointed out that the city is recognised as the centre of IT industry.

In Novi Sad, we have almost 900 IT companies employing ten thousand people. I wish to thank Prime Minister Brnabic for bringing us such important investors. We want IBM to feel at home in Novi Sad, he said.

At the moment, 38 engineers are employed in the IBM office in Novi Sad, jobs for another 38 are announced, who will be young experts who graduated from the University of Novi Sad.
