Sanditon Season 2 Gets March Premiere Date — First Look Photos
Masterpiece PBS will return to the world of Sanditon this spring, when the Jane Austen adaptation returns with its second season.
The public broadcaster announced Wednesday that Season 2 will premiere Sunday, March 20 at 9/8c.
The six episode followup picks up nine months after the events of Season 1, as “Charlotte returns to the beautiful seaside resort and soon attracts the attention of not one, but two new men,” per the official synopsis. “And, in her last summer season before turning 21, Georgiana Lambe, keen to forge her own identity, gets up to mischief in the name of love — but will she run the risk of being lonelier than ever before?”
The logline goes on to reveal that “the Parkers are back, as Tom strives to rebuild Sanditon. But there are many unforeseen issues awaiting him, while the secrets and lies of the dysfunctional Denhams continue to rock the foundations of the sunny seaside town.”
Rose Williams (Charlotte Heywood) will be joined by fellow returnees Anne Reid (Lady Denham), Kris Marshall (Tom Parker), Kate Ashfield (Mary Parker), Crystal Clarke (Miss Georgiana Lambe), Jack Fox (Sir Edward Denham), Charlotte Spencer (Esther Denham), Lily Sacofsky (Clara Brereton), Turlough Convery (Arthur Parker), Kevin Eldon (Mr. Hankins) and Adrian Scarborough (Dr. Fuchs).
They’ll be joined by new series regulars Ben Lloyd-Hughes (Industry) and Tom Weston-Jones (Grace), who will play Charlotte’s new love interests (plural!), in the wake of Theo James’ departure. Fellow newbies Rosie Graham (Outlander), Frank Blake (Normal People), Maxim Ays (Still So Awkward) and Alexander Vlahos (Versailles) round out the ensemble.
As previously reported, neither Mark Stanley nor Leo Suter (who played Lord Babington and Young Stringer, respectively) will be returning for Season 2. The series, meanwhile, has already been renewed for Season 3.

Oh dear! The costumes look a right mess. I guess the kerfluffle with the renewal meant the costuming budget took a hit. Poor Mr. Thomas Parker cannot even afford to have his waistcoat properly tailored to fit. Happy the show got renewed, but I did love the care that was put into the costumes of season 1. This is giving me Bridgerton vibes. #notgood
So no photos of the male leads. You do know that nobody watched the first season for the godawful female lead but for Theo and Leo? These horrible bland photos are not selling us the second season, show us Tom Weston Jones!
I loved the first series and was gutted it was cancelled, but I just can’t bring myself to get excited about it. So much of what made it so good is gone and, no, I don’t want to see Charlotte fall in love with someone else. It feels like a disservice.

Can’t wait for next season but ohh how I wish Theo James was coming back but the Tom guy seems a good match. Love this show much more than Bridgestone.

I liked Esther and Lord Babington more than any other couple. So sad that there won’t be them as a couple anymore. I don’t think I’ll watch it, the leading lady is so.. bland.
I’ve never known a Jane Austen heroine have so many “love interests” – two in Season 1 and two in Season 2 – she’d better be careful about her reputation!

Hope Theo comes back for S3 since they picked it up already I hope our leading lady doesn’t frown so much in this one guess it’s part of her acting and it was constant!!!!
I don’t think I will be watching the second season. Theo James was the reason I watched season 1 and as he will not be in season2, I have no interest in watching it.
So sad… babington and esther’s love story was the cutest and i wAs so excited to see it flourish. Finally something healthy and feel good and a character/male that truly understood what was going on with ester and her brother. Looooved his character. Also was wanting to see what happened with sidney and charlotte. So sad to mot see the continuation of season 1’s two love stories continue.

Quality television.. characters engaging, compelling and rather addictive… I would love a second series.. I have recommended Sanditon to all my friends
