This position plays a critical role in the Community Investment Process of the United Way of Broome County (UWBC). The primary role of the UWBC Capacity Building Committee Member is to ensure the effective implementation of community-based programs & projects designed to strengthen the capacity of local nonprofits to address the ever-evolving challenges and opportunities facing our community. The Capacity Building Committee Member is responsible for working in partnership with UWBC staff and community stakeholders to review, recommend funding to, and monitor a range of projects & programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in training and orientation meetings
- Become familiar with UWBC’s Strategic Priorities and Collective Impact Initiatives
- Complete an online individual review of grant applications
- Attend and participate in Capacity Building Committee meetings
- Help determine recommendations (with accompanying rationale) regarding the investment for each project & program the Capacity Building Committee decides to fund
- Provide feedback to UWBC staff regarding the investment process
QUALIFICATIONS
- A genuine concern for people and their well-being
- A high degree of confidentiality
- An interest in strengthening the capacity of the nonprofit sector in Broome County
- Ability to function as part of a team
- Good analytical and decision-making skills
TERM
- Three-Year Term, individuals may serve no more than two consecutive terms.
TIME COMMITMENT
- Approximately 6 meetings throughout the year, with additional meetings as necessary
