World Creativity & Innovation Day 2024 was celebrated on April 21. This year I reflected on how the journey of humanity to embrace human creativity has been evolving, particularly in the sharp rise of AI tools. We can't talk about the future of work and forget our place as humans. Creativity is an identity extractor. It puts you in touch with who you uniquely are and propels your courage to show up authentically. Take it from me. Embracing creativity helped me as a professional accountant to reassess my identity from compressing everything about me into the persona of an accountant. Accountancy is what I do, not who I am. From then I have been able to evolve into a global thought leader, increase the meaning of my work and purpose and receive recognition through awards and other accolades for my outstanding work. You just can't loose when you give yourself the time and space to allow your innate creativity to thrive. Last month I was invited to speak at Jubilee Christian Church’s Business Forum on the top of “Scaling your business and career”. It was an energetic, transformative session based on participants feedback. He turns my mourning into dancing! March 30th 2023 my mother passed away after battling 2 cancers. One of the darkest days of my life. I struggled to find some sort of normalcy amid at life moving on so quickly. It’s strange how at times we think the world will pause when we need a break. It’s up to us to force a pause and reprioritize. Fast forward to the exact date and I am here standing holding a trophy that has evaded me for years. I fell, stumbled, cried after missing the mark but today I stand as a testament of the power of resilience and God’s favour. Leaving a memorial for my mother’s death to attend an award ceremony that has been the place or heartbreak before took faith.
