SHAH ALAM: Two drug distribution syndicates have been crippled following joint anti-narcotics operations in the Klang Valley.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed told a press conference on Wednesday (Sept 21) that the operations involved Bukit Aman and multiple state contingents.
In total, five men were arrested in Ampang Jaya, Serdang and Petaling Jaya, he added.
The first operation was conducted on Sept 13 with two men arrested at a carpark in Ampang.
“We seized four compressed packets of suspected heroin base, with a weight of 1.5kg.
"Following that a raid was conducted at a house in Bandar Kinrara where another man was arrested.
“The first two suspects then led the police to another house in Sri Damansara where a car was found with 112 compressed packets of suspected heroin base weighing 43.48kg and 89,500 Erimin 5 pills,” he said.
In a subsequent raid on Sept 15, two more suspects were arrested and a suspected drag laboratory shut down in Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya.
Among the drugs seized were 134.19kg of suspected heroin base and 59.04kg of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
“We are investigating to determine how the suspect learned to process the drugs,” Comm Arjunaidi said.
He added that collectively, the raids led to drug seizures worth RM20.56mil in total.
All five suspects, aged between 23 and 35, have been remanded for a week from their respective dates of arrest.
“We will apply to extend their remand when it ends (for further investigation),” Comm Arjunaidi said.
