Dimitri Khundadze: If Georgia receives the status of an EU candidate with unjust commitments, the country should refuse it!

“If Georgia receives the status of an EU candidate with unjust commitments like the unjust allegations reflected in the resolution, then the country should give a fair refusal in response,” Georgian Dream MP Dimitri Khundadze. According to Khundadze, yesterday was an insult to the Georgian people and he has never seen such an unjust Europe during the period of Georgia's independence.

The MP notes that "no status is worth giving up the dignity of the country."

"Even though we are aware of the anti-state efforts of the Georgian opposition in Europe, yesterday's European Parliament resolution went beyond all bounds. It was an open insult to the Georgian people. Moreover, we have never seen such an unjust Europe during Georgia's independence. We can not give up dignity in order to get the status! Before the creation of the European Union, Georgia made a major contribution to the formation of Europe. Today, modern Europe, one of the creators of European values, is degrading us. The EU Constitution clearly states that this union must be based on the principle of equality. And what did we see yesterday? We saw arrogant EU countries insulting one of the oldest civilized states of the European family," Khundadze said.

According to him, yesterday’s resolution almost destroyed the European choice of the Georgian people.

“This is a dangerous political game. Today's global processes have made even clearer the fact that EU membership is not only a perspective of Georgia's future, it is also a perspective of Europe itself. As for the forthcoming decision of the European Union, if Georgia receives the status of an EU candidate with unjust commitments like the unjust allegations reflected in the resolution, then the country should give a fair refusal in response," Dimitri Khundadze said.
