[Dollarama] Dollarama Deals (Special Edition - Lawn & Garden - Apr 4, 2022)

Spring is here so what better way than to make a Dollarama Deals Special Edition on everything lawn and garden!

The Special Edition threads will include products in specific categories (ie. Seasonal, gardening, toys, etc) and events (ie. Christmas, Halloween, etc).

The majority of these products are "made-for-Dollarama".

Share your experience with any of the products you have tried so others can know if it's worth the buy! I found this to be helpful and people gave feedback on another Special Edition thread specific to Betty Crocker products. In case you missed it, here it is: dollarama-dollarama-deals-special-editi ... #p35792106

I've purchased the animal and rodent spikes and put them on top of the fence that connects to the house to keep raccoons from scaling my roof and making a home there. They previously ripped up some shingles. Seems to have kept them at bay.

Previous regular Dollarama Deals thread here: dollarama-dollarama-deals-mar-28-2022-2 ... #p35893850

I noticed the op is from Vancouver, hoping to get similar choices in Toronto.

Time to make a trip to Dollarama.

News says we should expect to see $5 Dollarama items soon. I wonder they still don't accept return or exchange. I was ok with no return/exchange when things were $1/2/3 but at $5 , it's different story.

The packs of small or large square plastic seed containers are amazing. However, the 5 pack seed trays are so thin they are garbage - I put a piece of scotch tape to label on one and when I removed the tape the whole tray split with it lol...

if you're not okay with their policy then don't shop there? The reason is probably because the products are mainly disposable and poor quality... The $1/2/3 items years ago are probably the same ones selling for $4 and soon to be $5... If anything the quality for their core products are getting worse... special gems are a different story tho.

The stainless 3-prong rake is solid, FYI.

Bought one last year and it was well worth the $4 I paid.
Let's hug it out

The Jiffy seed pots are the best value that I've seen to date. Local garden centers are wanting 4-5$ for the 25 pack. Dollarama is $2.50

Yup, can confirm we have most if not all of those items in GTA stores. I've seen them at various locations.
One thing I noticed is different are all of those hose/nozzle spray attachments we have here are Ray Padula branded (this is a brand that I've seen sold at Lowes/Walmart before) whereas the one's shown in OP is Schmidt brand (I believe this is Dollarama brand). They look identical so I'm guessing is the same item just rebranded?

Thx OP for the special post - upvoted of course! I've bought a lot of gardening stuff from D over the past few years - most of it excellent value. A few notables good/bad:

The hand tools with wooden handles, like the sod cutting spade, are great for the money but you're getting what you pay for so be gentle - the metal is thin. I just needed smth to outline a new bed I wanted to put in so was thankful I could find this handy tool for $4, took my time and had no problems, instead of going to HD and spending $17 that would last me 50 years...I don't need all that.

One of the things I like best is their chicken wire - because it is flimsy! Easy enough to cut and bend. One year late in the season I needed some and they were all sold out, got a roll from Lowes and not only was it way more costly but it is so thick it's hard to work with to wrap around planters, etc.: hard to cut, and when it catches your arm, draws blood. With the D ones, just a lil scratch.

Squirrels are my garden bane and altho I'm a pacifist, if it wasn't illegal I'd sit out front each morning with a bb gun and give them each a good welt...LOL! Even daffs, which are poisonous to them, get dug up just for fun by them. Those anti-squirrel mats actually work protecting my spring bulbs from the monsters - use aluminum u-shaped camping pegs to really secure the mats around the edges so they can't get lifted up.

I bought one of those "instant planters" cuz it was 3 bucks so why not give it a try - I was going to set it up on a tree stump to camouflage the stump and fill it with flowers. Despite it being made of felt, it is going on its 5th year...LOL!

The "roll out" mat of spring flowers is a dud - got 1 plant even after meticulous watering. Stay away from any edging stuff...that's where money is better spent going to HD and getting real stuff where the edges will stay stiff and upright, giving a solid edge for a few years.

Also if you see smth that's low on stock and are pretty sure you want it, buy it or it'll likely be gone next time you go and you'll spend even more time going to all the Ds in your city searching for it. As you can tell, I could go on but I'll spare you the tome...ha!

cheers,
:)

Yup, most Dollaramas should carry this stuff since it's Dollaramas house brand.

I've seen Ray Padula stuff in previous years but this year, my locations don't seem to carry it.

At my local dollarama they take returns when it's pre-broken in the package. They'll usually exchange it.

Or you can just exchange it yourself, it's not like their whole store security setup is just fake "this store totally has security cameras" signs.

I've never seen a dollarama which actually had a security camera, except for the makeup mirrors at the self checkout, which I doubt actually record anything, and that you can just focus them to be so blurry that you can't make anything out.

Lol look up. They’re on the ceiling with a camera covering 2 or 3 aisles each.

Not quite on topic but maybe camping supplies can count as part of the Spring edition?
One thing I want to point out from the camping gear, the 3-set of plastic cutlery attached to a carabiner clip. For $1.25 this is a great buy, and they don't seem to sell them all year long. They just started showing up again in store. I've bought one for myself and some for work friends, great to clip to a lunch bag so you never forget cutlery. Here is a pic of it from Walmart (listed at $3.49). They also sell metallic version but it costs more and I find the plastic one is pretty durable

If a product is defective then they have to either exchange it or give you a refund even with that type return policy.

In Canada, businesses are not obligated to accept returned items unless they are defective. However, they usually offer refunds or exchanges to help foster good customer relations.
