ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney has announced Tiana's Bayou Adventure, a revamp of Splash Mountain, will open June 28, 2024 at Magic Kingdom.

What You Need To Know

  • Tiana's Bayou Adventure is set to open June 28 at Magic Kingdom

  • Disney previously shared the ride will feature dozens of animatronics, with original voice actors reprising their roles

  • The ride will feature tunes from the movie and a new original soundtrack

  • The Disneyland version will open "later in 2024"

The “Princess and the Frog”-inspired attraction is set to bring familiar characters to life, as well as new ones.

Disney previously shared the ride will feature dozens of animatronics, with original voice actors reprising their roles, including Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana.

There will also be a new band of critters that were created for the ride.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will feature tunes from the movie and a new original soundtrack from New Orleans artist PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard. The critters featured in the ride will part of a band playing zydeco-style music on instruments they created from items found in the bayou.

Artwork from renowned Louisiana artists, such as Malaika Favorite and Sharika Mahdi will adorn the attraction. Additionally, the scent of freshly made beignets will fill the air as guests wait in the queue, adding to the exprience of strolling through the French Quarter.

Disney officials offered a few tips on what riders need to know before boarding Tiana's Bayou Adventure:

  • Enter a virtual queue. When the ride opens, officials said it will use a virtual queue. Guests can request to join the queue through the My Disney Experience app at one of two times: 7 a.m. or 1 p.m. While a standby queue will not be available during the attraction’s initial opening days, officials said they expect to open a standby queue soon after the attraction’s opening.

  • Use the Disney Genie+ service. Officials said the attraction will also be included as a Lightning Lane entrance in Disney Genie+ service (which are limited in availability, subject to change or closure, or may vary by date). This service helps guests get to some of their favorite attractions faster and includes digital downloads of select Disney PhotoPass attraction photos taken in the park on the day of their purchase at no additional charge. Officials said guests can check the My Disney Experience app on the day of their visit for pricing and availability.

  • Smile for the camera: Disney's PhotoPass Service will create a special photo for guests as they travel through the bayou. Learn more about the photo service.

  • Prepare to get wet. Officials said riders may get wet during the attraction. Guests are encouraged to bring their own rain gear if they want to avoid the water. Officials also said ponchos will be available throughout Magic Kingdom for purchase.

  • Shop new attraction merchandise. Guests can find the collections for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and “The Princess and the Frog”-inspired merchandise at the Emporium at Magic Kingdom starting on June 28, officials said. Shortly after the attraction debuts, the merchandise will move over to Critter Co-Op in Frontierland.

  • Try some of Tiana's Famous Beignets: On opening day, Golden Oak Outpost and The Friar’s Nook will be serving up sweet and fluffy beignets drizzled with honey and powdered sugar. These will be available for a limited time only, officials said.

Officials said additional details about the attraction can be found on the "Everything Tiana" page on the Disney Parks blog.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, first announced in 2020, is also taking over Disneyland’s former Splash Mountain attraction. That version is set to open “later in 2024.”
