KUALA LUMPUR: A botched enlargement procedure at a beauty centre along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here left a housewife with a swollen and bruised breast.

The woman lodged a complaint with the Immigration Department, as the centre was staffed by foreigners, which led to them staking out the outlet for several months before taking action.

Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department director Shamsul Badrin Mohshin said they were initially alerted to the beauty centre's operations in February.

"We received a complaint from a housewife who claimed her breast became bruised and swollen after she went for an enlargement procedure there.

"We gathered intelligence and found that the premises was closed between July and August after it received a warning from the complainant," he told reporters on Friday (Oct 14).

He said on Sept 20, the complainant informed the department that the centre had moved to a different unit in the same building under a different name.

"One of our personnel then made an appointment for a beauty procedure on Thursday (Oct 13).

"We raided the centre and arrested three women and two men from Indonesia," he said, adding that an assortment of medical equipment was also seized.

He said checks found that the centre offered breast enlargement, Vitamin C injections, veneer treatments and eyebrow threading.

"Further investigations revealed that the workers were conducting these procedures without any formal certification.

"We have opened investigations for not having valid travel documents and overstaying," he said, adding that the centre owner will also face action for illegally hiring foreign workers.

He said the five foreigners have been sent to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot for further action.
