The Journal of Medical Regulation interviews Jimi Bush of the Washington Medical Commission about her JMR article, An Evaluation of Clinicians with Subsequent Disciplinary Actions: Washington Medical Commission. Jimi Bush serves as the Director for Quality and Engagement at the Washington Medical Commission. “We took on this research almost as an exploratory mission to see if we could be doing anything better as a regulator,” explains Bush.

Calif. DOJ Data Portal Still Down After Breach
The California Department of Justice web portal, OpenJustice, remains offline after personal data related to concealed weapons applicants was exposed in June. The data breach involved anyone who tried to get a permit to carry a concealed gun in the state during the past decade. According to Government Technology on July 15 the California Attorney General's Office confirmed that the office's OpenJustice web portal remains offline.

Sunrise reviews, according to Regulation Matters: a CLEAR conversation, refer to studies that examine the validity of proposed regulations. According to Kathy Sanchez, one of the reports co-authors, "most licenses being proposed don't actually stand up to the scrutiny of sunrise."

W. Va. State Audit Highlights Need for Boards to Go Paperless

In a report dated June 12, 2022, from the W. Va. Legislative Auditors to the Post-Audits Subcommittee, several issues were identified with regard to website functionality and licensing. The Legislative Auditor analyzed all 34 of the States’ Chapter 30 Boards to include doctors, nurses, professional engineers and social workers. While 59 percent of the Boards allow members of the public to file electronic complaints against licensees, 38 percent require the public to print and physically mail the complaint forms.
