Introduction

Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) offers four (4) programmes of postgraduate study by research which includes:

Master of Science – NEC 461 (Mathematics)
Master of Science – NEC 462 (Statistics)
Doctor of Philosophy – NEC 461 (Mathematics)
Doctor of Philosophy – NEC 462 (Statistics)

The programmes are managed by Postgraduate Study Unit, CMS, lead by the Deputy Dean of Research & Postgraduate Study. It is our aim to provide good quality academic services and management to the postgraduate students and supervisors through a conducive learning environment. Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) offers options in research study programmes across a wide range of the applications area in Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science. In Applied Mathematics, we look for important connections with other disciplines that may inspire interesting and useful mathematics, and where innovative mathematical reasoning may lead to new insights and applications. In Applied Statistics, we prepare our student to become the professionals for the career such as statisticians, data scientists, data analytics and more. Through statistical methods, analysis and the emphasis on real-world data, students are trained to seek concrete solutions to tangible problems. For Data Science field, student will employ complex computing techniques, statistical inference and machine learning techniques to extract information from large data sets. Students able to observe the trends and patterns for forecasting and propose data-driven decision making

However, applicants from these countries must submit evidence of support that have been certified by the previous university.

ii. Local and International applicants with Bachelor or Master’s Degrees from Malaysian universities.

iii. International applicants who have graduated from an Institution of Higher Learning in which the medium of instruction is English. However, applicants must submit evidence of support that have been certified by the previous university.

(3) Applicants who have not met the English requirement are given provisional admission. The applicants are given (one) 1-year from the date of registration to fulfill‑the English requirement, failing which, they will be terminated from the program.
