Northern Stars

Hollywood's biggest star first belonged to me.

Northern Stars is an angsty, new adult, second chance standalone romance from Brittainy Cherry.

Breaking up with your high school sweetheart was one thing.
Breaking up with a famous Hollywood actor? That was a different situation.

I’d been in love with Aiden Walters since I was a little girl. We’d grown up as neighbors in our small town. He was my first love, and I was his. I was there when his career took off, and I was certain I’d always be a part of his life.

But just when his Hollywood star began to really shine, the internet blew up with the news of his real-life girlfriend at home. When I realized he was spending more time defending me than focusing on his career, I did the only thing I could do - I let him go.

Five years later, he was back home staying in the only hotel in our small town. Of course, it was the one I managed. I was forced daily to see the man whose heart I’d broken all those years ago.

The man who now resented me.
The man who grimaced with annoyance every time he looked my way.
The man who swore he’d never speak to me again.

It was clear that I was now his sworn enemy. Still, during our arguments, I saw the sparks of the boy I grew up loving. I craved his warmth, his touch, and the feelings that we once had.

I had to remind myself daily of why I ended things with him in the first place. Otherwise, I’d find myself falling in love with him all over again. Only this time, I was certain that if I fell, he wouldn’t be willing to catch me.

Hollywood's biggest star first belonged to me.

Breaking up with your high school sweetheart was one thing.
Breaking up with Hollywood’s favorite actor? That was a different situation.

I’d been in love with Aiden Walters since I was a little girl. We’d grown up as neighbors in small town Wisconsin. I knew him inside and out, and he knew every single piece of me. I was there when his career took off, and I was almost certain I’d always be a part of his life.

It wasn’t until a scandal broke out that I was forced to end things with Aiden. He didn’t take it very well. The boy I once loved began to hate me. He went off to California to leave all of his past behind—including me.

Five years later, he was back in town for the next few months taking care of some family business. He was staying in the only hotel in our small town. The hotel I now oversaw. For the next few months, I’d be forced to cater to a man whose heart I’d broken all those years ago. A man who resented me. A man who swore he’d never speak to me again.

Now that he was back in town, in constant connection with me, I had to keep reminding myself daily of why I ended things with him in the first place. Otherwise, I’d find myself falling in love with him all over again. Only this time, I was certain that if I fell, he wouldn’t be willing to catch me.

Northern Stars was such a beautiful friends to lovers story. By far my favorite in Brittainy Cherry's ‘Compass’ series. Though this book is a complete standalone, there were a few fun easter eggs if you’ve read the other books in this series.
Every girl deserves a best friend like Aiden. The world would be a lot easier to live in if they had someone like him.

Aiden and Hailee are next door neighbors and childhood best friends. Nothing could tear them apart. They are more than just friends, they’re each others person. Aiden is pursing acting as a teen and gets a big role. He has to leave for LA for a while, but comes back for his senior year with Hailee. It’s then they both come to terms that their relationship is more than friendship to both of them. There are real feelings there. Then, something happens that tears them apart.
People didn’t talk enough about the shift from friends to lovers and then to strangers. It cut a little deeper than most heartbreaks, and that wound never completely healed.

It’s been five years since Aiden came back to his midwest home. Five years since he’s talked to or seen Hailee. He’s a Hollywood superstar now, on break before his next big film and his mom talks him into coming home for a while. He figures it’s been enough time, so why not. But once he sees Hailee he knows. There will never be enough time away from her to make all the feelings he’s had go away.

I could not even try to pick who I loved more between Hailee and Aiden. It’s rare when I love both of the main characters equally but this is a book where it’s true. Aiden is the most swoonworthy hero and truly is the best. Hailee is relatable, sweet, and loyal. They are both amazing and belong together. There could never be another person that could measure up for either of them.. they truly belong together.

This is a book made me emotional, but also gave me so many happy feels. It was like getting a huge hug and I can tell it will be one I’ll re-read in the future. Definitely a comfort read. I adore any and everything Brittainy Cherry pens and this was no exception. Another five star favorite from the queen of emotional romance!
“Hailee?” he whispered. “Yes?” His lips brushed against mine ever-so-gently. “You are the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

Second chance romance are my fav thing but sadly sometimes the second part does not even compare to part one.

Part one was adorable. It was Pre everything and we could just see them falling in love but also see them as best friends and it was the most wholesome thing ever.

Part two however was a bit different. First I felt like the pacing was a bit off. One on hand it dragged out but then some scenes were super super quick which was annoying.
I feel like one or two of the drama scenes could have been taken out.

Also side note: I just really don’t like it when the mc is a reader and makes references to tropes etc. so when she said that they weren’t going to have a third act break up like in every romance novel, I CRINGED.

How does Brittainy C. Cherry managed to write the most wholesome precious childhood friends to lovers stories that are beautiful, powerful and pack a punch (part one) and then the story goes completely off the rails in part two when the main characters meet again after years of separation and the book turns into some kind of second chance romance when they are adults behaving like idiots with one brain cell.

Exhibit A: The Fire Between High & Lo
Exhibit B: Eleanor & Grey
Exhibit C: Landon & Shay: Part One & Landon & Shay: Part Two
Exhibit D: this book

No matter what, I will keep reading BCC books like they are my last meal, because no one can write cute, adorable teenage love like her. Brittainy's characters in their highschool era need to be protected at all costs. 🙏

2e0pm6g thumbnail-IMG-0091-copy-6 '🅽🅾🆁🆃🅷🅴🆁🅽 🆂🆃🅰🆁🆂' Is a full length second chance, romance book in author Brittainy C. Cherry's'Compass' series. Spoken in 'multiple Perspectives.' This is Hailee Jones and Aiden Waters story...

'𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕞𝕪 𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕔𝕠𝕗𝕗𝕖𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕞𝕪 𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕓𝕠𝕟 𝕒𝕥 𝕟𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥. 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕁𝕖𝕣𝕣𝕪 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕪 𝕋𝕠𝕞. 𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕒𝕣𝕖 𝕞𝕪 𝕟𝕠𝕣𝕥𝕙 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕘𝕦𝕚𝕕𝕖𝕤 𝕞𝕖 𝕙𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕖𝕒𝕔𝕙 𝕟𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥.'

This was such a super sweet, slow burn read, from neighbours growing up beside each other in a small town in Wisconsin, they quickly fell into the best friends category, to more effortlessly before Aiden became Hollywood's very own heartthrob he was Haile's, we were along for the ride as they became each others firsts...

Once the media became aware that Aiden was seeing a plus size girl, the tabloids went to town destroying her from the inside out, making her self doubt everything about herself.

Until they were nothing...Breaking them both in the process..

It's not until he's taking a break from his acting career and back in their home town staying in the hotel where Hailee works it's hard to dodge the girl who claimed his heart when they were kids.

Stories like this are my kryptonite, I was engulfed in the feels this book wrung out of me as soon as I started reading it effortlessly pulled me in and didn't let go until that very last page.

Hailee was such a beautiful strong character whose light shone through every page and Aiden was the perfect book boyfriend, the way he treated Hailee, always there in her corner defending her anyway he could, made all those swoony feels soar.

Hailee + Aiden...

They grew up together in Wisconsin. Their parents are friends and neighbors. But Hailee and Aiden kinda hated each other as kids. They had to be together all the time!
But when they were twelve things changed. They became friends. The bestest of friends.
Until Aiden went to Hollywood to become a star.
But he came back after a year to finish Highschool with his bestie.
But then he left again. Heartbroken.
And now - years later - he's back and he still hates Hailee. Right?

READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

Another beautiful Brittainy book!

I loved reading this.
We kind of get two books here. The first starts when our darlings are eight years old and ends when they're 18. And it's such a beautiful story. But also so very hard and sad and heartbreaking. They're struggling a lot with bullies and bodies and parents and life.
And then they don't talk to each other for five years until Aiden comes back home for a few months for a little Hollywood break.
Hailee is working in the only hotel in town and obviously Aiden is staying there.
Of course we hope that we'll get an insta reconciliation and we'll ride off into that happily ever after sunset asap.
But Aiden is still so very angry and heartbroken.
They still love each other - they're each other's person for life.

It won't be easy to get to that happy end - but the reader will enjoy (and hate) every single page on the way to that HEA!

I just loved Hailee and Aiden. Both have their own problems but they're just so perfect together. They shouldn't have let other people control their lives and choices so much. But life is hard and they only wanted what's best for people.

This was a really great love story. With not many of those unnecessary misunderstandings that I hate so much. I could've lived without the five years apart - but it was only five years. That's totally survivable. Even though they way they sometimes talk and act, they seem to think it was 15 years - especially with Brittainy always writing ALL THOSE YEARS AGO. LOL! I sometimes forgot that they were just 23 in the second part of the book. It all felt a bit older to me. Maybe the five years they were apart were more years in a previous version of the book? Anyway - doesn't matter - the book was really great!

I loved that we got to see the three guys from the previous books in the series again!

NORTHERN STARS was another beautiful Brittainy Cherry love story. Sweet. Heartbreaking. Funny. Romantic. Just Adorable. Run to your nearest amazon for your own Aiden - this one is MINE!

Reasons not to read this book: 1) it will break your heart then give it wings to soar among the stars 2) you'll be devastated to see it end 3) you'll fall desperately, hopelessly for these characters and they'll always be a part of you 4) its poignant heart, sweet simplicities, and exquisitely beautiful love of a lifetime will leave no piece of your soul untouched.

Hailee Jones and Aiden Walter’s were next-door neighbors whose mothers were good friends. For the first part of their lives they got along like oil and water, to the extent that their families dubbed them Tom and Jerry. Somewhere among the annoyance, arguing and bickering, a true friendship was born.

They were opposites in every way but had many things in common, including neither being very popular at school. That is, until Aiden's acting career took off, and the kids who used to pick on him now wanted a piece of his fledgling fame. But Hailee and Aiden vowed, no matter what happened, they would always be best friends.

Life intervened, and Aiden and Hailee were separated. Both brokenhearted, with him thrust further into the limelight, and her left to find her new normal and learn to love herself without the one person who loved her unconditionally. Of course, Aiden comes back to town years later, but their reunion is fraught with anger, pain, and sorrow.

Oh, my heart, y'all, these two are quite possibly my all-time favorite couple! Aiden is so lost, and so adrift when he loses his anchor, but he's the sweetest, swooniest, most kind-hearted boy, even when he's a mass of contradicting emotion. This guy gets so much thrown at him, but when he really needs her, Hailee is right there by his side, holding on tight.

Hailee has to deal with some vile treatment, making me want to hunt down every troll in the universe and extinguish their voice, while also making me love and admire this amazing, beautiful girl even more. Her message of learning to love ourselves just as we are and find happiness on our own is vital, inspiring, and liberating.

Cherry's writing is poetic, profound, evocative and powerful, and I know whenever I pick up one of her romances, a part of me will be forever changed. She leaves pieces of her heart and soul scattered throughout the pages, making me feel like an active participant rather than a casual observer of the story. Sagaciously wise and enchanted with magic, this touching, emotional story is easily one of my top five reads for this year. Worthy of all of the stars in the sky, run to the 1-Click and start reading this phenomenal story now. Your romantic heart will be eternally grateful.

”No, Hailee my dream was you”

Perfection. Absolute perfection. There's no other way to describe the book I just devoured. I have no idea how she does it every single time but Brittainy Cherry can't write no wrong. Ever. She can only write beautiful, precious words that make you smile and feel true love. She did it again... and I don't know how I'm going to get over it.

I planned this review and made an outline that I was supposed to fill out as I read, because I wanted to get every detail and write how it made me feel, but I can't. There are no words to describe the effect of this book over me. It's Brittainy Cherry's super power. She heals with her words. Her books always fill my heart with hope, with true love and makes me believe that that true love that heals all wounds is possible. The way she crafts her stories, the incredible bond and devotion in the souls of her characters make me see life through different lens and gives my heart so. much. joy. True joy.

Aiden and Hailee healed each other through their friendship, struggles, love, compassion and patience for one another and I could feel every single bit in each word. I couldn't put the book down seeing them build this incredible relationship and then finding their way back to each other but most of all, in their journey to accept and love themselves fully. They gave me a different kind of swoon, one I don’t know how to explain.

"You don't have to be perfect to be loved by me. That's not how this love works. I don't only love you on the good days. I love you on the hard ones, too. Be broken, be raw, be damaged. And still, I'll stay."

Something that I always love about Brittainy's books, is the growth in every single character, not just the main couple. This book wasn't the exception. Everyone had the proper resolution and a closure and they all grew and found what they needed in the end, especially Aiden and Hailee. My heart ached in the best way because I found them both so relatable in many ways and couldn't help but bawl my eyes out at one point. I am in awe with how the story developed with all its twists and turns that made my jaw drop and my heart full!

Books like this is why I love Romance so much. This book reminds me why I binge read Brittainy Cherry's backlist in just a couple of weeks when I discovered her. Books like this remind me that love does exist, that we all have the capacity of giving love and we also deserve to be loved back in the same measure.

I have more to say, but I won't because I won't spoil this masterpiece for you. For now, I'll just beg you to add this to your TBR and read it when it comes out because you can't miss out on it. What can you expect?

- Childhood friends to lovers.
- Second Chance Romance
- Interracial Couple (BWWM)
- Small Town
- Found family
- An emotional rollercoaster! (Get tissues ready).

Northern Stars is book 4 in the Compass Series. It can be read as a standalone but I'm sure you'd enjoy books 1-3 (Available in KU). If you need more convincing, hit me up so I can keep telling you how delightful, beautiful and sweet her books are.

A huge thanks to Brittainy Cherry and Valentine PR for giving me the honor of receiving this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five stars are not enough.

Hilfe?!

things started out good and i probably would've given northern stars a solid three stars, but then …

hailee really said, “why do you hate me?” i blurted out, my voice trembling. i'm sorry, honey what? did you- did you really just ask that?

all in all, the book was insanely readable and a fun way to pass the time. however, i never fully connected to hailee, aiden, or their romance. it felt very “by the numbers” brittainy c cherry to me.

this book sorta felt like a bootleg landon and shay (part one … we don't associate with part two), which … yeah … take that how you will lol

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone Book 4 of 4 from Compass series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Being neighbors, Hailee Jones and Aiden Walters had been best friends since they were young. The innocent friendship slowly grew into into budding love. But as they grew older, their future headed into different directions which eventually pulled them apart. That was until they were brought together again and forced to reassess old feelings and hurt.

Who would have thought I’d enjoy a book that made me smile and have heart eyes, and this book did it. I didn’t expect it to be this cute and young, but it worked for the story. Of course, true to the author’s style there were heartbreaks sprinkled in between.

“There’s no one in this world I’d rather be lonely with.”

Aiden was such a sweetheart, and for someone in his position he was accommodating and humble. There was a wide-eyed innocence in Hailee that I liked. I also liked how both of them were riddled with insecurities that they had to learn to overcome.

Northern Stars is a story of friendship, love, and self-acceptance. It would appeal to readers who enjoy heartwarming second chance romance.

Omg, what am I going to do now😫. I am officially caught up with Brittainy’s whole book catalog and I feel so empty. I’m so glad that I ended with this one because it was beyond superb! Everything I could ask for in a child hood best friends to lovers. I love that Aiden was so head over heels for Hailee since they were teens. I loved these two characters so much! Don’t ask me to choose between the two because I simply cannot. This one pulled at me and I could identify with Aiden having to sever different family ties and his feelings surrounding it I have felt.

This book, like every BC book makes you feel Deep things in a cathartic way. This woman can write yall.

“You don’t have to be perfect to be loved by me. That’s not how love works. I don’t only love you on the good days. I love you on the hard ones too. Be broken, be raw, be damaged. And still, I’ll stay.”

God help me, I love Aiden so much.😫

Brittainy Cherry shines in this stunning childhood best friends-to-lovers story. Writing part one in the younger POVs, it’s a wonderfully woven story of friends and feelings and love and loss.

Part two, as adults, Aiden and Hailee’s rekindled romance isn’t without its difficulties. Overcoming secrets, miscommunication, and differences, their love wins in the best possible way.

I *might* have a new Brittainy Cherry favorite. This book was just incredible.

The friends to lovers was just immaculate. I loved how Brittainy showed us a little of how they grew up and became really close friends, and eventually more. Honestly, these two were just so wholesome and cute and they completely stole my heart.

Their journey wasn’t easy. They both deal with their own anxieties and insecurities. I really enjoyed that that was part of the story and how Brittainy dealt with it. It always feels so good to see these issues in books.

I liked how the time jump occurred. How these two couldn’t stay away from each other once they were back in the same town. It was fun to see them all grown up and learn each other again.

I really liked how Damian came into Aiden’s life. I was waiting for that moment since the beginning of the book and it was done so well. That first meeting had me so emotional. Aiden gained a whole new family by finding out he had a brother. And I loved getting to see the whole gang so much!!!

I just really really loved this book and this couple. And it was such a great ending to this amazing series.

Friends to lovers with a heart stopping twist or two or three. Broken down in two parts, this book was one I could not put down.
This author has the ability to bring us readers in touch with so many real life struggles that we all encounter at one or more times in our life.
Fantastic job on yet another favorite book by this author!

FOUR AND A QUARTER STARS

'Northern Stars' begins with the first four chapters depicting Aiden and Hailee's childhood. By chapter four, they are both juniors in high school, and Aiden leaves for a year for an acting role. He returns for their senior year, and it's during this time that Aiden and Hailee finally confess their love for each other. However, the popular kids at school don't approve of their relationship due to Hailee's weight, and Aiden's father also disapproves of their relationship for the sake of his image. He urges Hailee to break up with Aiden so that he can have a successful career. Unfortunately, Hailee does that and doesn't let Aiden know why she needs time away from him.

Around 40% of the way through the book, there's a jump of five years, and Aiden returns to town for the first time since his senior year. Aiden is now a successful actor, and Hailee is running an inn, where he will be staying. As Aiden and Hailee reconnect, their feelings for each other resurface, but they struggle with what happened in the past.

This second chance romance will take readers on an emotional rollercoaster ride.

It's a very good Brittainy Cherry! Full of heart with a great hero and a very likeable heroine.

I loved that the heroine Haylee is plus sized and that the trope shows how people can be mean to people who don't fit the norm.
Haylee was bullied and ridiculed because of her size but she has always been perfect in Aidan's eyes

Aaaw that boy made my heart melt. He was such an amazing good guy! Kind to everyone and protective of Haylee. She was his light and his everything. I love when a hero is devoted to the heroine and dotes on her every chance he gets!

The glimpses in their childhood when both were fighting as kids yet couldn't help chasing each other like Tom and Jerry was extremely sweet.

Both have a big growth in the book. Haylee to overcome her insecurities and learn to love her body and ignore the outside comments.
Aidan to learn to be happy and leave his sadness behind.

A great friends to lovers romance with a Hollywood heartthrob , some angst, serious topics like race and weight combined with a beautiful writing and overflowing emotions.

It's beautiful, moving, heartbreaking and heartwarming.

I know why Brittainy C Cherry is one of my top favorite romance writers for years now.
