Apple Books picked COLD SILENCE as a Best Book of June!

“We couldn’t put Cold Silence down until we’d discovered the truth about the murderer—and found out what happened between Shane and Yael, whose slow-burn romance is a great addition to the novel’s nonstop suspense, action, and creepiness. If you like intense reads, pick up Cold Silence.”

It was a slog fest when both the hero and the heroine are consumed with their martyr issues. The best thing was the plot and seeing Alex Parker in action. I love that guy.

A serial killer is on the loose, his targets brutally murdered, and the killer is auctioning off how they are tortured in a "Choose Your Own Murder Adventure". Isn't the dark web a wonderful thing? Alex Parker has been on his trail for a year and now the FBI is also concerned and are partnering with Alex and his security firm, Cramer, Parker & Gray, to form a task force to catch this a--hole.

Yael Brooks is Alex's go to gal for work on the dark web. She can track them down better than even Alex can. She keeps to herself and isn't into the bar scene her bestie, Laura, thrives in. Her passion is catching baddies and she is determined to catch Evi1Geni-us, even though he has so far outwitted them.

Shane Livingstone is a member of the FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team. He is the best of the best and is not happy to be sidelined with a broken arm. Being on this Task Force is a whole new experience for him. He is used to kicking in the door and nailing the baddies. Now he has to think like this one and it is a whole new ball game for him, especially when his best friend dies doing his job.

Shane sees in Yael a woman who is fantastic at her job, but this baddie is always one step ahead of the good guys. Could it Be??? But as Shane gets closer to her, he knows she has secrets, but being in league with Evi1Geni-us isn't her secret. If it's not that, what is it? 3 1/2-Stars

Omg what a book! It's proof of why this author is one of my unicorn suspense authors, and will always be a go to.
Yet again this went straight onto my top reads list.
I didn't want this book to end so that speaks volumes of the calibre of this book and author.
Honestly I could not get enough as soon as I started.
The characters (old and new) and plot will etch out a piece of your heart.
The inspirational female main character especially.
The plot...wow I'm just sitting here speechless, and don't want to ruin the experience so yes my review is vague but there's just so much woven into this story.
I have a feeling this bunch of books is going to be the author's best yet and my favourites if that's even possible.
This is one of those must one click immediately or you'll regret it books. Even if you're new to the author as the way it's written you won't be lost in the slightest.
When you dive in make sure you have plenty of time as you won't want to put it down.

This Cold Crew member read the ARC and went ahead and pre-ordered the book because she cannot get enough of Alex Parker.

Cold Silence is a story of equals, where FBI Special Agent Shane Livingstone and Yael Brooks from Cramer, Parker & Gray team up to bring down a sadistic killer.

Trigger Warning: Serial Killer, Torture
Warning: This can be read as a standalone but it helps to know that some characters made their appearance felt in previous books.

Synopsis:
FBI Special Agent Shane Livingstone is on his way to defuse a situation with his hostage rescue team members. A few days later, Yael Brooks from Cramer, Parker & Gray is at the FBI Command Centre, where their team is coordinating with the FBI to take down a sadistic serial killer who goes by the moniker Evi1Geni-us. What follows is a breathtaking takedown of this dangerous person who has made Yael his next target and is hell-bent on unravelling her past, which she has got to great lengths to keep hidden.

Review:
The prologue starts the story on December 15 and continues seventeen days later with the case that involves the story. A twisted serial killer is at work and his idea of death is completely gruesome.

Yael and Shane were not attracted to each other right off the bat, which resulted in a rocking slow-burn romance amidst the chaos of solving a serial killer case. What was more funny was seeing Alex Parker at loggerheads with Shane over Yael, his employee. I love how Parker is protective of everyone who has some kind of relationship with him, whether personal or working (though I never imagined him saying that he did not know something—he does say that once in this book!).
She had yet to offend a PC with a socially awkward comment.

Coming back to the story, Yael Brooks is as socially awkward as some of us compulsive readers, who do not have a life except reading and think of the world as this big, bad, and terrifying place, especially when asked to be a part of a social gathering. Lol. It was something that made Yael’s character more endearing.

As Yael and Shane are on the hunt for this killer, Shane wants there to be no secrets between them, but Yael has a past that she likes to keep hidden, horrors she has not been able to get rid of even after years have passed since the incident in her life.

As usual, Toni Anderson’s addictive writing and buildup suck you in, to the point that you do not want to put down the book (even for essential breaks). I was more intrigued with the pairing, a person who hates guns with someone for whom it’s a necessity because of his job.
As if this killer had left a residual malevolence behind that marred the landscape and tainted the very air they breathed.

I wonder if it makes me a bad person to say how much I loved the chase scene, which involved Yael and the killer. I was hella scared for Yael and equally impressed with her moves. While Shane and Yael are the cutest pair ever, her past (which was not her fault) always casting a shadow over her present made me so sad.

I couldn’t guess who the villain was till they were really revealed and that definitely gave me a kick since it happens rarely. The last few chapters were so tense and intense that often I felt I’d fall off my chair, sometimes due to not being able to decide whether to laugh or cry. The ending was hilarious and charming.

I was waiting to review this book for more than a month after reading it only because of the epilogue from Alex’s point of view. Amidst all the danger, there is this domesticity that he shares with Mal, Georgie, and their golden retriever Rex that never ceases to amaze me. It is such a beautiful epilogue.

Thank you to the author for an e-ARC of the book.

OH MY EVER LOVIN' HELL! You know I've been sitting here for a cool minute trying to figure out why I haven't read more by this author who is brilliant at penning my favorite type of suspenseful goodness, but I'll tell you this, I fixed that problem right before I started to write this review by buying this series LOL! Cold Silence came out of the gate with a BIG bang & it literally never slowed down for a second. I loved how Toni Anderson actually wrote it with enough length (and not enough length since I never wanted it to end) so there was nothing lost by rushing anything. I spent the whole time cover to cover trying to figure out who the nasty serial killer was, spoiler alert, I never guessed correctly LOL! Shane is a mouth watering specimen of a hero who I loved despite some of his suspicious views, and Yael is the genius level girl who tracks criminals down with her laptop (think a tortured soul Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds) with a dark super secretive past who I loved AND wanted to give a hug in the worst way. Neither of them do relationships but the sparks were flying early on, and the more they worked together, the more intense it got between them. Of course there's this brutal murderer who killed Shane's best friend, and now has Yael in his sights so the twists are definitely coming in hot with a sexy time kicker & tons of angst to round it out. I loved the romantic aspect but it didn't slow down the suspense factor so yeah, I can say with the utmost assurance that this author can write the hell out of an exciting romantic suspense book that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

FBI Special Agent on the Hostage Rescue Team, Shane Livingstone, and civilian IT code specialist, Yael Brooks, are literally thrown together on a task force to try to catch a dreadful serial killer who has “no morals and zero empathy.”. And when I say dreadful I mean—think of the worst of the worst and multiply that by at least ten and that’s this killer.

Shane is a great character, straightforward and loyalty is his middle, well it’s not, but it should be. I particularly like how supportive he is to his team and his friends. He is also one very intelligent man. Yael is such an interesting character, she intrigued me immediately, as was the author’s plan I’m sure 😊, I couldn’t wait to find out more about her past… a very clever tactic used by Ms Anderson. The attraction between these two leading characters is almost tangible but what I like the best is how they didn’t fall into lust as soon as they met and the storyline isn’t overtaken by the romance, which by the way is great, too.

There is some is great humour in this book, especially the fun banter between characters, for example when Scotty says this to Shane, “Sure you can. And you can breathe fire and shoot bullets out of your a** while you’re at it. We know this already—unless you have really bad gas…” 😆 And then there are some absolutely devastating scenes where I am not ashamed to admit there were tears in my eyes, the writing was so poignant. You feel every emotion with and for each character, and believe me… there are so many that are felt deep in your heart, whether they are excitement, happiness or sorrow, fear, anger or anxiety—where I literally sat on the edge of my seat reading as fast as I a could to find out the outcome. Great detailed descriptions take you right there into each scene and hey presto—you are a part of the story, not just an observer.

This is my first book by this author that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last, I think I have added all to my TBR list! That says a huge amount about how I feel about this story.

Another fantastic book from Toni, focusing on Shane from HRT and Yael from Alex’s firm. I love a romantic suspense and this was one of the best. Plenty of suspense, interesting characters, heat and a great storyline and writing which just draws you in. I literally couldn’t stop reading! This had great suspense and a really entertaining storyline. Some heartbreaking moments, which made this more realistic. Shane was a great hero and a strong member of the team. Yael had a hard past and showed her strength with dealing with that. I loved the appearance of familiar faces and these certainly made me enjoy this book even more. Fantastic book I highly recommend.

I had a blast with the first book I read for this author, and so as an avid fan of romantic suspense, I couldn’t resist when the opportunity to read 🎧︎Cold Silence, the latest standalone in her Cold Justice series. Narrated by Eric G. Dove, 🎧︎Cold Silence delivers a suspenseful tale with romantic elements. A tale which will have you flipping the pages as you as try to anticipate the villain’s next move and law enforcement course of action.

🎧︎Cold Silence is the first book in the author’s Cold Justice: Most Wanted series. It is a spinoff of her Cold Justice series. In her newest novel, the reader is introduced to Shane Livingston, a member of the FBI Hostage Retrieval Team and his love interest, Yael Brooks. Yael and Shane met while working a case involving a serial killer who not only films his kills but also engages his viewers by enticing them to bid on the method of torture for each of the victims. Shane, with Yael’s help, took a deep dive into the worldwide web, hoping to stop to stop the villain before he got to his next victim.

Sparks ignited the moment the two met. However, because of secrets and insecurities, it took a while for their relationship to develop. These two were complete opposites. Shane is outgoing, while Yael prefers her own company. I wondered how well a relationship would work between someone who hates guns and a law enforcement officer.

Yael’s past is one she would prefer to remain hidden. However, the villain with his cunning and suave computer skills is privy to her past and plans to use it to snare her into his Web. Entitlement and belief that his victims owed him something fueled his motivation for murder. It didn’t take long for me to figure out the villain’s identity. I also had a fair idea of who is next victim would be. The story moved quickly, which had me flipping the pages. I had to know how it would end.

Eric G. Dove did a good job with the characters and the narration. He has an engaging tone, which had me listening intently. His female voices all sounded the same, while his male voices were distinctive. I believe he needs to add some emotion to his narration.

Overall, 🎧︎Cold Silence delivered a suspenseful story that will keep readers on their toes.

Cold Silence
4 Stars

HRT operative Shane Livingston and Yael Brooks, a computer expert with Cramer, Parker & Grey, work together to track and stop a sadistic serial killer who uses the Dark Web to auction off his kills. However, it soon becomes clear that the hunters have become the prey, and this psychopath has Yael in his sights.

Series note: This new spin-off series returns to the HRT team introduced in The Negotiators, and there are numerous references to characters and events from there as well as from the original Cold Justice series. As such, it is recommended that the newbies begin with book #1 A Cold Dark Place. You won't be sorry!

The serial killer investigation is intense, and there are numerous action-packed and exciting moments. Moreover, the fact that Yael is a target increases the suspense exponentially. That said, the identity of the culprit is easy to guess early on.

In terms of the romance, Yael and Shane are both appealing characters. They have a strong attraction, but their connection grows slowly, and they don't play games with one another. Yael's background is original and heartbreaking - one rarely thinks about the - and it is understandable that she would be wary of trusting others. Thankfully, the secrets trope is handled well and does not overshadow Yael and Shane's relationship.

All in all, a strong beginning to the new spin-off and I look forward to continuing with additional HRT members.

This honestly feels like the best book i have read in AGES!!!!
And for some reason it also feels like the best of Toni Anderson's book yet. Second only to A Cold Dark Place.

What do I say?
This book had me laughing, on the edge of my seat and screaming all at the same time.

And I finally cracked it.
After 16 books I FINALLY worked out the correct suspect.
Ms. Anderson. I have infiltrated your algorithm.

*****THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH CONTAINS SPOILERS*****
I had three suspects.
Tim.
Kevin the creepy neighbour.
And Laura's new boyfriend.
Not because they did anything but just because I've finally worked out how to find this amazing authors antagonist.
After all the suspects, POV's I worked out that it couldn't be anyone but the new boyfriend.
Although with Anderson, you can never be too sure.
But HELL YES I GOT IT!!!!
*****************

Characters?
There has NEVER been a moment where i have NOT gone COMPLETELY crazy over this authors characters and this time was no different.
Shane Livingstone? Please. I request the world to protect this man at ALL costs.
He is a priceless specimen. In EVERY way.
Yael? A damn unique name and an amazing character to go with it.
The insecurities this character had has been different from Toni's previous characters which was nice to see.
She works with the elite of the elite. The cream of the crop and she STILL thinks she's not good enough??
And she had a great personality as well.

As usual all the old amazing characters were here. More then usual actually and I could not be happier.

Plot? Or should I say the villian?
As always (I seem to be saying that a lot) it was amazing. Gripping and kept me up late.
Did it get me out of the biggest reading slump ever? Hell yes.
Except now I can't read because I have exam week. Damn it.

Also I don't know if this is just a me problem or not but I NEED to make a family tree - FBI edition for all these characters. I always feel like I've heard a name before but I don't remember where from. Which characters have received a book and which ones are still pending.
Fun.

What I've always liked about Toni Anderson's writing is that her suspense plots are always so excellently thought-out, so exquisitely crafted and written (and well-researched in a way that I'm sucked in hook, line and sinker) and so cranked out to the last minute when you think it can't get any worse until something finally gives.

'Cold Silence' continues the whole larger FBI series in a similar vein, with Shane Livingstone and Yael Brooks reluctantly pairing up to nab a heinous and diabolical serial killer, who seems slippery enough to stay a few steps ahead each time they think they've tracked his digital footprints. There are a few tantalising morsels that Anderson drops about potential future plot-lines and pairings and as much I'd hope to see these getting developed, there was already so much in 'Cold Silence' to absorb and enjoy.

The only relationship I wasn't too convinced about was Shane/Yael, even though I loved the awkward setup that Anderson had done for the both of them as well as the emotional aspect of Shane's loss that'd led to some deception in their interactions. As competent as I thought they were individually as protagonists, I was less invested in them as a couple as there didn't seem to be enough to tie them together--too much distrust and non-commitment as is the rote problem with operator-types perhaps?--apart from the common goal of catching the bad guy during a short but intense and trying period. And as much as that did kind of forge a connection of sorts, their weaker, HFN ending left me wondering if there was really enough there for them to build on past the climax of the book.

That said, the entire 'Cold Justice' series is something I've followed from the start and the gripes I've always had about the romance aside, I've always found Anderson's storytelling too compelling and too engrossing to stay away from anything she writes.

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Trigger Warnings: school shootings reference, sexual abuse, emotional trauma, murder, rape, violence against women, death, reference to bombs.

This was definitely the most thrilling ride in the cold justice series. A hacker and an FBI Agent from the hostage rescue team team up to find a notorious serial killer, who may even be more clever and dangerous than previous villains. As they get closer, will the serial killer get closer too? Questions questions.

I loved this thrilling ride! I loved Shane and Yael together, despite them being complete and total polar opposites of one another in both profession and personality. Plus Yael hiding secrets doesn't help matters, as they soon come to light, when they may contribute to the final moment of finding the serial killer.

The development was wonderful as always of both Shane and Yael, and both were strong, likeable characters from start to finish. The romance could've been fleshed out more, but this is clearly more of an action thriller more than a romantic thriller, if you've read the cold justice series. The chemistry with other people in the story as well was invigorating, heartbreaking, and just so high on the emotions especially when it comes to the death of one FBI agent. The action was top-notch as well, although yes, I still struggle with the technical terms - but I'll live. The plot was woven wonderfully, and I was never left confused, bored, or irritated to go on - it flowed smoothly.

Overall, I loved this book a lot, and hope to be able to continue with the cold justice series. After all this series has managed to ignite a passion for romantic/action thrillers again, so I am very grateful and appreciative of this series.

Until the next read,

Cold Silence is the latest book by Toni Anderson. It's the first book in the Cold Justice: Most Wanted series. It can be read as a stand alone. Even though it is an off shoot of her earlier Cold Justice series. There are characters from the earlier books that do show up here, but you aren't missing any important information. It was nice to see how previous couples are doing though. I love starting a new book by this author because I know I'm in for a great adventure.

I thought this one was really fun. It was action packed and had me holding my breath in a few scenes. Especially the ending scenes...talk about intense! The msytery had me engaged from the beginning. I liked that it was very technical and computer based. The story definitely brutal in some scenes. As for the couple, I liked Shane more in the beginning that I did Yael. But in the end, I could understand her reluctance for not wanting to get close to anyone because of her past. I highly recommend this one as well as any book by this author. I listened to the audio version of the book and highly recommend that format. I can't wait to read the next book.

I've given this a B for both narration and content at AudioGals.

Toni Anderson adds another ‘arm’ to her long-running Cold Justice series with Cold Silence, book one in her her new Cold Justice: Most Wantedseries which features the field agents of the FBI Hostage Rescue Team.

In this story, the HRT is part of a large task force hunting a sadistic serial killer calling themselves Evi1Geni-us who kills their victims via a kind of ‘choose your own murder’ event. During a live-stream, the very select few who are wealthy (and depraved) enough to be able to afford the buy-in, are able to bid on a variety of methods of torture and manners of death and watch while their choices are carried out.

As well as agents from various branches of the FBI, the Joint Task Force includes a small number of civilians, one of whom is Yael Brooks, an employee of cyber security firm Cramer, Parker & Gray, in which the “Parker” is Alex Parker, the former CIA operative who featured in the very first Cold book, Cold justice. While Yael’s best friend Laura tracks the various cryptocurrency exchanges happening during the ‘event’, Yael’s speciality is tracking through code, and she’s working furiously to try to pinpoint Evi1Geni-us’ location. It’s tense; the auction has begun, and thanks to the time and effort Alex has put into creating various shady personas, Yael and the team have a front row seat. She really wishes they didn’t – her job is hard enough without having to work hard not to look at what’s unfolding on the screen.

HRT agent Shane Livingstone was injured during an operation a couple of weeks back, a broken arm meaning he’s out of the field for a while. He’s part of the task force searching for Evi1Geni-us, but when Parker and his colleagues zero in on EG’s location and the HRT is deployed, Shane has to watch from the control room – helpless to do anything but watch in horror when an explosion injures several of the operatives and kills his best friend. Just seconds before, Yael had clued in to the fact that something was wrong, that the auction wasn’t actually live and they’ve been set up. As she searches desperately for answers she realises that somehow, Evi1Geni-us has infiltrated her system and gained control of her camera… and he can see her face.

Toni Anderson’s romantic suspense novels are always tightly plotted with plenty of action, a bit of steam and some real nail-biting tension, and Cold Silence is no exception. Now that EG has seen what Yael looks like, they are able to identify her and track her – and Shane appoints himself her protector. His reasons are not entirely noble, however, because he’s harbouring suspicions that perhaps Yael was the one who may have – inadvertently or not – alerted EG to the FBI’s operation. Even if she was, he’s not about to let her be kidnapped and tortured, but he does want answers, and staying close to her is, he believes, the best way to get them. He’ll just have to ignore the fact that he finds Yael both interesting and attractive, her competency a real turn-on. But he’s never been one for relationships – something he makes clear fairly early on – and no way is he going to break his own rules, no matter how increasingly fascinated he’s becoming by the prickly, self-sufficient hacker.

Yael is aloof and fiercely independent for good reason; a tragic event in her past has led her to leave her home town, change her name and keep herself to herself as much as possible. Being something of an introvert means this isn’t particularly difficult, and she’s not comfortable in social situations – unlike her friend Laura, who is forever trying to get her to go out and date. Yet there’s a vulnerability beneath her carefully cultivated exterior, someone who really longs for love, connection and acceptance, but whose well-founded fear of allowing anyone to get close means she’s stuck watching life go by from the sidelines.

The relationship between Shane and Yael is a slow-burn, which makes a lot sense considering where they are at the beginning of the book. Shane, grieving the death of his best friend and desperate for answers, is guarded and suspicious, and while there’s an initial spark there, an acknowledgement that the other is attractive, they’re both determined not to allow anything to distract them from focusing on their ultimate goal, to put a stop to EG’s killing spree.

If you haven’t read or listened to any of Toni Anderson’s Cold books before, you could conceivably start here, as these are designed as interlinked standalones in which the romances and plots are self-contained, but there are quite a lot of recurring characters by now – some who actually appear on-page, and some who are just name-checked – so the newbie may be just a little bit confused as to who they all are and how they all relate to each other (I’ve listened to quite a few, and even I had to go back to read some of my reviews to check!). On the whole, I enjoyed the cameos and the working relationships and camaraderie the author has developed between the various team-members, and liked that there’s room for humour and good-natured teasing amid the action and edge-of-the-seat tension.

The suspense storyline is gripping and perfectly paced but unfortunately, I wasn’t convinced by the romance. I didn’t feel a great deal of chemistry between Shane and Yael, and they have very little in common apart from a desire to catch the bad guy and their individual guilt complexes (Shane because he should have been the first one in line of the explosion, Yael over events in her past which were absolutely, 100 percent NOT her fault but which she nonetheless angsts over), which aren’t really enough to sustain a relationship. The author wisely leaves them at a solid HFN and deciding to give a relationship a try.

Eric G. Dove returns to the narrator’s chair and, as ever, delivers a solid, well-paced performance with clearly defined characterisations and effective differentiation for both primary and secondary characters. His slightly gravelly timbre is a good fit for this sort of material, and he really knows how to ratchet up and sustain the tension and communicate the emotional content of the story. I appreciate that he doesn’t use his “narrator voice” to portray any of the characters, which means there’s no confusion between narrative and dialogue, and his portrayal of Shane and Yael (which he pronounces “Yah-eel” – I’ve never heard it said, so don’t know if that’s correct) really brings out their personalities, Shane’s cool-headed pragmatism and fierce protectiveness, Yael’s detachment, longing and underlying vulnerability.

Cold Silence gets the Cold Justice: Most Wanted off to a good start with an exciting, twisty plot and the introduction of a bunch of new characters and potential future plotlines and pairings. Shane and Yael work well together, and even though I wasn’t particularly invested in their romance, that didn’t affect my enjoyment of the story overall.

5 solid stars. Excellent romantic suspense! This one was an anxious nail biter. FBI, HRT and Alex Parker's security group trying to stop a sadistic creepy villian. Shane (HRT) and Yael (cyber security computer wiz) were the starring couple. Loved them both equally. The perfect mix of romance, suspense and action. Alex Parker, Yael's boss (from previous books), has a decent role here too. Love Alex! I'm soooo ready for the next book in this series. The only downer is the long wait ☹️.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: romantic suspense; forced proximity

Fantastic ride with tons of twists and turns!

I have been a fan of this series from the beginning and this new series is looking to be as sexy and exciting as her last! Cold Silence follows sidelined Hostage Rescue Team member Shane Livingston and hacker Yael Brooks and their persuit of a serial killer who auctions off various ways to kill his victims live on the dark web. The two work together as consultants for an FBI joint team working to bring down the killer. When the killer gets Yael in his sights, Shane steps up to protect the unassuming hacker. The two are attracted to each other, but secrets and distrusting natures get in the way. When Yael's roommate disappears, the team knows they need to step it up and track down the killer before he can kill off any more victims.

Absolutely loved this! The storyline is both gripping and entertaining. There is tons of action, twists and turns, secrets, and tension. Extremely well written with accurate descriptions of both the strategic and tactical operations that go into these types of missions - which I both love and appreciate. Loved Shane being paired with Yael. Shane is typical super alpha ops guy, former army, type A control freak . Yael is the super nerdy, kind of grumpy, introvert who doesn't like to draw attention to herself and finds his attention a bit overwhelming. Neither of them "do" relationships, but they just can't seem to stop the attraction between them. If you're a fan of intelligent romantic suspense with just enough heat, Toni Anderson definitely delivers for Cold Silence. Can't wait for the next book in this series - hoping she sticks with the members of the HRT that were introduced!

Cold Silence is the 16th book in Toni Anderson's Cold Justice Series and the first one in her spinoff: Cold Justice: Most Wanted. It can easily be read as a standalone, but best enjoyed after reading her Cold Justice series since many previous characters take supporting roles in this book. Cold Silence is told in third person, from multiple perspectives to include the killers.

A hot-shot new series featuring some of our fave characters from previous series as secondary Characters.

Shane is ex-Special Forces and current FBI HRT. He works hard and plays harder but an accident when saving a hostage has sidelined him with a broken arm. That means he's not with his team when tragedy strikes and he's left to mourn the loss of his friend and shoulder a whole heap of survivor guilt.

Yael is a newish member of Alx Parkers coder team. When she is assigned to a case involving a serial killer auctioning off sick fantasies, she meets Shane who has been assigned to the same task force whilst he is injured. The sparks soon fly between these two but can romance work when there is suspicion, distrust, and secrets between them?

EG is one sick individual - you can really get to grips with hating someone so totally irredeemable. Yael and Shane are both keeping secrets and Yael has good reasons for keeping herself closed off.

Yael shows she is braver than even she knows when she becomes a target for EG and there are plenty of red herrings and potential suspects until EG is finally revealed. The storyline flows at a quick but suitable pace. The chemistry between these two is FUEGO! Shane is man determined to show his partner that she is enough, even whilst still thinking he's not relationship material. Laura, introduced as Yael's best friend is the best mix of pushy and supportive bestie. I sure hope we get to see more of her - she really deserves a HEA!

There are several appearances from former MC'sin interlinked series including Alex Parker, Mallory Rooney, Lincoln Frazer, Ashley Chen, Hunt Kincaid and a newly transferred Will Griffin- still reeling from the loss of his girlfriend.

Well that started up with a bang. I wasn't in the mood to read after being in the hospital. But this caught my attention right away. I missed reading a good mystery romantic suspense. This was all that.

I enjoyed this one a lot in terms of pacing and plot. It built in increments but kept you interested. Of course there's some familiar names as this involved Alex Parker's team and HRT. They were both after the same UNSUB. This book is Yael Brooks and Shane Livingstone. Both new names for me even having read most of Toni Anderson's books.

There was a nice slow burn feel go this because Yael is a loner and has a difficult history. Shane went througha lot lately with his a teammate's passing. Alex Parker is a big part of this book and I thoroughly liked that. Yael and Shane have common ground in the search for the sadistic UNSUB and some attraction too. They were mostly professional but can't ignore the spark. Could be something worth persuing. The big question on who the killer it was a chase. It wasn't a let down either on action and suspense.

Getting to know the HRT team members made me feel like we would see more of them and I'm excited. I liked the heroine here Yael. She had her secrets but she found a way to better her life after all the hardship. Confronting her past couldn't have been easy but she did. This I felt was good balance between romance suspense, the plot was really interesting.

Think of the best mystery thriller you’ve ever read, and I guarantee (IMHO) COLD SILENCE will surpass it! This is an exciting and totally enthralling tale. But I have to warn you, this is not without a touch of heart-wrenching tragedy that will most likely bring some tears early on. The storyline is complex but not complicated so it’s fast-paced with enough action that will often have you on the edge of your seat. There’s a serial killer that needs to be found, and Shane and Yael have both been assigned to the FBI’s task force. Yael is a civilian computer expert who works in Alex Parker’s security firm. She has a hidden, tragic past that drives her lack of trust issues and reticence over forming any close attachments. Shane is a member of an elite FBI Hostage Rescue Team. Already frustrated by being side-lined by his recent injury, he’s now having difficulty dealing with his feelings over the present tragedy so he can’t afford any more distractions, especially since he’s having suspicions about Yael’s involvement in the case. But even with these conflicts, they can’t avoid their growing attraction to each other and the inevitable passion that is blooming between them. As I said, this makes for a complex story. Throw in the mysterious sadistic killer with his own crazy, mad computer skills and the ticking clock to find him before he strikes again, and you’ve got a story that is sure to keep you up reading late into the night. My perfect read!!!

Suspense, thriller, romance, heart wrenching, page turner. This is book 1 in her new series spin off, so grab it now and join the Toni Anderson Band Wagon, I am unashamedly one. This one starts off with bang. We soon segue way into the clock ticking and your heart racing. I pulled my feet up off the floor and huddled in as I read, it was that intense. We meet Yael from Adams team a team of elite hackers that work in the private sector and with the government. If you have not read the other Toni Anderson series, you will certainly not be lost, to us who are fanatics it was a little bit of comfort coming home. Seeing Will Griffin, Hunt Kincaid and Meghan Donnelly make it to HRT was another win for us long time fans. Yael has a horrific secret which really struck home in the world today. When the book was over it kept playing in my head what she goes through, and even what the creepy psycho went through, and it made me think. There is some aha steam, sizzle, fireworks when hook up commences and some heart felt moments along. I highly recommend any book Toni Anderson rights! Thank you for the arc, I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

ARC of Cold Silence

Cold Silence is the latest instalment of Toni Anderson’s Cold Justice series and it’s an outstanding well written addition. The story follows Shane a member of the FBI’s HRT and Yael (beautiful name) a white hat hacker who has recently joined Alex Parker’s team. Shane finds himself sidelined by injury and grief as he is assigned to the task force to work along side Yael, who is keeping her own well guarded secrets. As the team works to take down an evil like no other, there is plenty of action, suspense, drama, and of course a delicious slow burn romance as these two work towards their HEA. This book does not disappoint.

Oh wow, what another awesome read from Toni Anderson. If you like romantic suspense, then you have to read this book! This one focuses on Shane from the FBI’s elite HRT squad and cyber geek Yael from Alex Parker’s firm. Once you start reading this book, you won’t be able to put it down as it’s that good! I actually had tears in my eyes in some parts. I’m looking forward to reading more from this HRT unit. I enjoyed that characters from her previous books make an appearance in this one too. I received an advanced reader copy and I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Fast paced thriller from one of the best!

Truly gruesome serial killer in this one, but I loved this page turner. Shane and Yael were a great couple, I sometimes wanted to knock their heads together but they eventually got their act together.
For fans of this author, the book has Alex Parker front and centre, what’s not to love about that.
Grisly murders, smart heroine, detailed and in-depth storyline, suspenseful scenes and the right amount of romance. Great read!

This one really drew me in from the start! I hated how that first assignment ended for Shane. Sure they got the bad guy and saved those that needed it, but wouldn't it suck to be hurt like that!

I really liked Yael and how smart she was! She kept figuring out little things to help find EG. That guy, what a total bad guy, I hated how he profited off the evil things he did to people, hated it even more that he figured out so many of them on the team and what he did. Yael's background broke my heart! I hated how a whole community turned their backs on a girl that needed them. Sure what her brother did was horrific, but she isn't her brother. I was glad that Shane and others saw that and let her know it.

I was glad that they got EG, glad that this threat is done and glad that Shane and Yael are going to give it a try, both of them deserve it!
