PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 3,926 new Covid-19 infections on Thursday (July 28), bringing the total number of cases in the country to 4,668,139 since the pandemic began.
The Health Ministry's CovidNow portal reported that 3,903 of Thursday's cases were local transmissions while there were 23 imported infections.
The portal also reported that there were 3,542 Covid-19 recoveries on Thursday, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 4,584,907 since the pandemic began.
There are currently 47,286 active Covid-19 cases in the country, with 45,657, or 96.6% of the total observing home quarantine and 30 individuals, or 0.1%, being treated at quarantine and treatment centres.
A total of 1,539 Covid-19 patients, or 3.3% of active cases, are receiving treatment at hospitals while 60, or 0.2% of the total, have been warded in intensive care units (ICU).
A total of 25 individuals currently warded in ICU do not neet ventilator support while the remaining 35 have been ventilated.
Malaysia's nationwide ICU utilisation rate stands at 60.2% overall, with 16.1% being used to treat Covid-19 patients.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry's GitHub data repository reported that there were four deaths due to Covid-19 on Thursday, including one case classified as brought-in-dead.
This brings the total number of fatalities due to Covid-19 in the country to 35,946 since the pandemic began.
Two of Thursday's Covid-19 deaths were reported in Selangor, while one death each was recorded in Melaka and Perak.
