★ 4 stars!!! ★

“I will break you, Lilith. I will take everything from you. And in return, I will give you the world. You will be mine.”

“There’s something inside you that calls to me. Like a siren, I’m drawn to you. As a man in my position, you don’t throw such things aside lightly.”

“You’re the air I breathe, my queen.”

Oh my dayz. This is my first read by this author and talk about starting off with a bang. I went to bed tonight to read a chapter or two and read the book. Yes it’s so so good.

King is the king of the Adair Empire. He’s the king of the mafia. When he sees Lilith he realises she is what he needs, what he wants. These two are a force to be reckoned with. Lilith has been through so much yet she is such a strong feisty character. King gets what he wants. He’s a strong alpha character and I love how we got a glimpse of his softer side.

This was an awesome read. I’m really hoping we don’t have to wait too long to read more of the Adair Empire.

Holy dark romance done right, Batman. This story of endurance, of surviving by any means necessary, was intertwined perfectly with the main characters, King and Lilith, finding love at first sight.

King fell for Lilith, knowing she would be his queen, instantly. It took a little longer for Lilith as she believed King sent for her to collect a debt. Oh, he was collecting, but it wasn't for what she thought.

King and Lilith's intense chemistry quickly led to some explosive times together. There was no unnecessary drama nor violence. Everything within the pages was vital to either the story, or the character and growth of each person. It helped Lilith find the courage she didn't know she had to stand up for herself, and to fight for the happiness she'd just started to find. As for King, it helped to maintain the empire he and his friends, men like brothers to him, built.

As King defends his home, his woman, from danger, both learn new things about themselves. King discovers Lilith brings the light into his dark world, giving him the ability to view the consequences he dishes out a little differently. As for Lilith, she realizes she is loved, unconditionally, by her dark King, and what it means to truly have a family.

Will King be able to protect his woman? Will Lilith accept her new role in life? Will the threat to the Adair Empire be stopped? What will happen in Luther's story?

One-click now and follow along as a man and woman, destined to be together, unite, strengthening a kingdom. I really liked this book, a lot. It was dark and yet funny. Sexy and yet sweet. King and Lilith are perfect for one another. They balance each other, one rounding out the rough edges why the other sharpens them. The secondary characters are entertaining and yet a little demented at the same time. It's quite funny to see the different sides of them. I eagerly anticipate Luther's upcoming book. The teaser we get of him and his heroine has me very anxious for the release.

**I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.**

There aren't words to adequately describe how I feel about King: 13 Little Lies (Adair Empire, #1). KL Donn has the uncanny ability to make it hard for you to ever choose a favourite book or character. This book is significantly different compared to her previous ones, it demonstrates how far she has come as an author to be able to write different troupes that leave you speechless no matter if they are light or dark.

Lilith and King were a seamless start to this series, it has set it off impeccably. Their chemistry was brilliant, it had the perfect balance of darkness to the sweet moments where you can't help but emotionally connect with the characters. This book was so well written, it was impossible to put down. I am addicted and cannot wait to read the rest of the Adair Empire.

This book is in a word, incredible. The heart and soul of this book is simple to define. Family. What makes it, who makes it and how you define it is entirely up to you. The love story is amazing and the dark is freaken out of this world phenominal. the bond that King and Lilith have, along with the others, is a thing of beauty to behold. I have been waiting for this book for a while now, anticipating it, but in no way could i ever, have imagined how it would come about. This book, for me, just hands down surpassed all of the other books i have read in my life, to become my favorite. I will say, this spoke to my inner dark girl. It made my twisted, dark girl heart sing with glee and left me with a reminder that love, is found everywhere and under any circumstances. Love is what makes a family. Love and Blood. This, in my opinion, is the best book KL has ever written, and this is saying a whole lot, since she is my automatic, one click author. Hands down, this is storytelling at its very best. Pick up a copy and take this journey with her. All i will add is to buckle up buttercup, its gonna be one hell of a journey. Once you pick up this book, you will not be able to put it down untitl you finish it. I even yelled at my kids for inturupting me during reading time, and that never happens. This story from first page to last, will have you on the edge of your seat, begging to know what is going to happen next, but leave you with such a feeling of wonder and exhaustion. It is if you were the one being on the journey, not the charecters.

This is the beginning of something spectacular, a new direction for this author that I've read of and I loved it. King and Lillith had amazing chemistry and the side characters make the story. This is definitely a darker story than were used too from Krystal but she has done it so well i can't wait for the following books

This was a great start to this new series from K.L. Donn :) ♡

Yes, it's darker than her other books, but she did a great job in showing that sometimes a little bit of darkness in a story fits when you show the true definition of a story... it's heart and soul.

The Adair Empire with all its twisted and dark main characters and side characters, they're a family ♡

I loved the chemistry flow and the feeling of King and Lilith's bond. King would do anything for his Lilith, his queen ♡♡ and anyone who dares to try to harm and touch what's his (even if it happened before being with him and definitely now being with him) all will pay with dire consequences.

I loved that we got to read about the alphas who will also get their own story in the Adair Empire Series and how they interacted with Lilith. It was beautiful and funny in a twisted way :) ♡

Both King and Lilith complete each other. They have both seen, experienced and have darkness within their souls but those souls also recognize each other as soul-mates ♡♡

Also, loved the ending chapter and can't wait to see the progress of that particular development in the next book of this series :) (get this and read it to know what I'm talking about without revealing any spoilers and you will definitely won't regret it).

Can't wait to see which alpha is next and intrigued to read about the story of his woman and definitely anxious to read about their dark love story ;) ♡ :)

OK, so this book I was very conflicted on. On one hand, I LOVED King and Luther:) On the other hand, I couldn't connect with Lillith. I just didn't get it.....and for me I didn't quite feel their connection completely. It was a FAST read and I am definitely planning on reading Luther's book for sure:)

It’s difficult doing this review without spoilers, but you just have to read it and give this book the Justice it deserves from KL Donn.

This isn’t an author who’s new to me, I’m used to her menages, short sweet romance, and so much more, but dark. She dark finally and I couldn’t be more enthralled by king. So when I saw the ARC...

King is the first book in the Adair Empire Series and after reading it, I’m definitely looking forward to more of this series. King and Lilith’s character development and depth was beautifully done. King is an antihero that you can justify at any time. Lilith was strength and beauty all around.

From the many turmoil emotions to plot and darkish tones, this is my favorite book by KL Donn, yet. I knew waiting for these would be a torture and now I can’t wait for the next book.

This was a pretty good read that I liked. King fell for Lilith he wants her to be his queen. It took a little longer for Lilith as she believed King sent for her to collect a debt. King and Lilith had some really good chemistry and they had some really hot sex scenes. I really didn't like Lilith too much she acted like a kid at times. King defends his home and Lilith from danger both learn new things about themselves. King discovers Lilith brings the light into his dark world giving him the ability to view the consequences he dishes out a little differently. As for Lilith, she realizes she is loved, unconditionally, by her dark King, and what it means to truly have a family. This was a good read that I liked. This was my first time reading this author this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

I loved this book! This book was much darker than any of KL's other books but it is just as good! This is the first book in a brand new series. This is the story of King and Lillith. This book is very intriguing, enjoyable and entertaining. I enjoyed both King and Lilith as characters. They were both well developed and their chemistry was intense. This story is filled with twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the end. I am looking forward to reading the stories of the other characters. Sorry my review is vague but I didn't want to spoil a thing!
I voluntarily read an arc copy for my honest review!

WOW, I truly enjoyed this dark, twisted and sexy ride that KL Donn has just taken me on. She has done a wonderful job giving us something that I haven't seen her deliver before and I am on pins and needles waiting for the next in this series.

King was everything I expected and more. I wasn't expecting the side he shows to Lilith and I loved getting that side of him but watch out if you cross him and especially if you mess with her. I loved all the top guys in his crew. They all have different personalities and stories that I can't wait to uncover. Their protectiveness towards Lilith is something that warmed my heart. They come off as being heartless but Lilith brings a side out in King and his men that makes this book even more addicting.

I highly recommend this book and I really can't wait for the next in this series!!!

King: 13 Little Lies (Adair Empire, #1) by KL Donn is a great start to this new series. This book is a darker read than her other stories but what a read it is. The Adair Empire with all its twisted characters –it is really an eye opener. Yet when everything is said and done, this story is about a family and what makes them who they are.
It’s difficult doing this review without giving away spoilers but I will try to give enough to wheat your book appetite. King is the first book in the Adair Empire Series. King wants Lilith and there is this immediate chemistry between them, an insta-love right away from King toward Lilith but Lilith who King sees as his “Queen” has her own demons that she is fighting and that makes her resistant to pursuing the chemistry between them but that doesn’t stop their heavy attraction and intense chemistry. King Adair has everything around him built on crime so he is like an anti-hero. His kingdom was pretty much established on crime and I’m not saying he doesn't have morality, his version of it is so skewed from what normal society would normally hold as true. The lust between these two is sizzling and there is some pretty heavy taboo scenes in this book. Secondary characters play a pretty big part in this story. As King's elite, inner circle, they would lay down their lives for either their Queen or their King.
This story is told in a duel POV. K.L. Donn has written this story along a dark romance theme and what a dark delight this story is. I was on the edge of my seat, loving the sizzling erotic dark delight of King and Lilith’s story. I do not want to give any spoilers away but this is one story you need to pick up and devour!!!

My Rating: 4.6 stars *****

This story is short, fast paced and enjoyable. I read this book in one sitting and wasn’t once bored. After reading this book I was left with a ton of highlighted quotes. I would love to put some of my favourites in this review but I refuse to spoil this book for anyone. I liked that this story was deliciously dark yet not too dark for me to get into. I loved King. I loved that he knew that Lilith was going to be his queen and god help anyone that disrespected his queen. Anyone that had or tried to hurt his queen and there would be hell to pay. The chemistry between Lilith and King was undeniable. The passion between them was through the roof. I loved that Kings men, Luther, Carver, Cas and Atticus adored Lilith. They truly bonded with her. The danger in this story had me on the edge of my seat; I couldn’t wait to see what King would do.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Awesome read!!
King Adair is the King of his mafia empire end he wants Lilith. "i will break you, Lilith and take everything from you. And in return, I will give you the world. You will be mine"
This is a dark romance. and even though the characters in this romance are twisted and dark, they fit together.
Lilith was a strong heroine and even though her life hasn't been easy.
King was all Alpha and would do everything for his Queen.
Good start to a awesome series. Diving in to the next.
5 starts!!

DNF @ 41%.

Nothing even remotely original in this story. The h immediately had sex with H and has no problem getting intimate while his men are watching. Then she is ok with violently torturing a man. The final straw was a terrible replay of the scene from Pretty Woman when she goes to a high-end store and the sales rep talks down to her bc she looks poor.

King: 13 Little Lies by K.L. Donn is significantly different from previous works by this author...King is K.L. Donn's first foray into Dark Romance. Usually, a brief synopsis would be offered for those reading my review. However, to keep this review completely spoiler free, I have decided to forgo the synopsis altogether. Readers will delight in the intensity K.L. Donn introduces in her first novella for a new series, Adair Empire. The foundation for the Adair Empire is family. All else comes second. King: 13 Little Lies is darker and grittier. This Novella will leave you chomping at the bit to read more of K.L. Donn's dark romance.

As the start of a new series, K.L. Donn made several brilliant choices. The first was writing the characters of King and Lilith. King Adair is the anti-hero. His kingdom was established on crime and although he doesn't lack morality, his version of it is skewed from what would normally hold true. His Queen, Lilith, is not without her own demons. Like King, Lilith is an anti-heroine. Together, the taboo becomes the norm and kindles will be set on fire as the chemistry between King and Lilith blazes brightly. Though love is not the immediate result of their meeting, the lust they experience is intense and scorching hot! Secondary characters play a huge roll in this novella and set up the precedence for future books within the Adair Empire series. These secondary characters are men who are intensely loyal and anti-heroes in their own right. As King's elite, inner circle, they would willing lay down their lives for either their Queen or their King.

Other signs of K.L. Donn's brilliance is writing this novella were shown with the strong show of secondary characters that can and will be given their own books. This is smart marketing. Additionally, K.L. Donn wrote King:13 Little Lies in duel POV. She made it far easier for readers to related to King and Lilith. Anti-heroes and anti-heroines operate with their own moral compass. Without duel POV, I fear connecting with the character who has no voice in a dark romance is much, much harder. K.L. Donn keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout this novella and while there is not a cliffhanger ending, you will still be left anticipating future books! I certainly do - March can not come soon enough so we can get our hands on Luther's story!

I highly recommend this book for those of you that love dark romance or taboo reads. K.L. Donn 's King: 13 Little Lies is beautifully well written. It is a quick read that will surely wet your appetite for more!

Lilith made a deal with the devil. She makes a choice knowing exactly what it will end up costing her. When it was time to pay, she knew her end was near and she was willing to accept it with as much grace as possible. What she never expected was to find King Adair on his knees offering her his kingdom.

King Adair rules his city. He’s ruthless and feared by anyone who knows his name. He’s been watching Lilith, however and decides he will make her his queen. He knows there is more to her than she shows the world, and he plans on having it all. He’ll break her to make her into the woman he knows she is capable of being . . . one that can rule by his side.

A man like King always has enemies, however, and this time, they’ve taken aim at the one thing he cares about . . . Lilith. Now it’s up to King and the men who stood beside him as he built his kingdom to find Lilith and bring her home while destroying everything in their way.

KL Donn has stepped completely out of her box to provide readers with a deliciously dark, sinfully sexy tantalizing tale. King was an amazing journey into the criminal underworld where men kill and torture to get what they want and rule through fear and intimidation. King Adair knows what he wants and has no issue doing whatever it takes to get it. He has surrounded himself with others who follow his orders and commands and thrive in his darkness.

Even though Lilith seems to have a bit of light in her, she immediately fits into this new world she finds herself in and thrives with the knowledge that she is wanted and cared for by King and his associates. King and his butchering band of associates are anti-heros with their own set of standards and morals they adhere to. I was thrilled to take this journey with KL and can’t wait to see what she has in store for King’s right hand men - Luther Atticus, Carver and Castiel. Long live the King and his Queen! 5 stars!

I love KL, when she said she had a dark romance coming I have to admit I was skeptical, I fear the unknown of what a dark romance can bring. I am glad I didn't shy aware from this book, don't fear the unknown, you may just fall in love.
Lilith and King, she is his queen, she just doesn't know it yet. He heard her laugh, a laugh that can make him stalk her, find out everything he can about her, but there is always more to know.
Lilith, she is waiting for someone to rescue her, rescue her from a life that she deems hopeless.
They both have had a hard life, a life that shapes who they are and the path of their future. Together, they can run an empire.
This is a romance, it just has some darkness but in each other they find their light as only they can. There are some steamy scenes, dominance and submission, pain and pleasure. Warning, there could be triggers as some things from the past are told but the wrongs are rectified and when you run the city and the country those wrongs are paid for with a vengeance.
This was a quick read, once you start you cant put it down. You need to know what happens. Come and join the Adair Empire and meet the men who rule.

Lilith Riley isn’t a woman who is happy with her life. King Adair is a man of authority. They have an interesting beginning. It hooked me in because they are polar opposites. He is very forthcoming in what he expects.

This is a book with no excuses, not for the timid or shy, and probably not what you might expect. But if you’re up to the challenge you might just enjoy it as much as I did. Then your decision becomes whether you’re going to read this in one sitting. I wanted to but that’s not possible when you’re at work.

Our author shows the violence of their world but she’s good to her readers by not getting too graphic. You might get the shivers but nothing more. It doesn’t overtake the story but helps move the scenes along. There were a couple of times that the author had me chuckling and that was especially true when it came to the ending. I’m sure that I’ll be somewhere in line happily waiting for the next installment.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

OMG SHE DID IT AGAIN!!!
Ok at first I was like..what? What? WHAT?! lmao lotsa crazy going on but then 8 pages in you buckle up and enjoy crazy ! I loved it I can not say that enough... OMG I LOVED me some Carver...that boy is crazy crazy lol and I loved Atticus and Luther too!

My favorite part?

I smile genuinely because this man has no clue. “Carver is your worst nightmare, unleashed into hell and trained with Lucifer himself. He’s Jack the Ripper wrapped in the warmth of Hades, trained by the best, feared by the worst.”I can see worry worming its way into his eyes. The two goons with him are already shifting on their feet, getting antsy. “Carver plays with knives like they’re toys, chews on bullets like gum. And when a woman who had no idea what it was to torture a man asks for that blade, he not only gives it to her, he shows her skillfully how to best torture a man without causing more blood loss than necessary so that she can have ample torture time.”“He’s but one man,”he defends. I laugh, hysterically, maniacally. This idiot has no idea. “So invite him in,”I taunt.

How awesome is that!!! Can't wait for more!! Is it March yet??

DNF

The big bad mafioso sees a homeless "junkie whore" (his words, not mine) who steals from him and immediately falls for her and decides to make her "his queen".

Ugh.

On top of that, we are thrown right in the middle of something and you get a feeling like there's a whole book you missed before jumping into this one.

And of course the instacrap on steroids.
No chemistry, no feelings, no depth, no nothing.

Can we please NOT?

K.L. DONN said this story was dark. I saw a king avenge a little girl who was betrayed by those who should have protected her. I saw a broken women try and rescue a little girl from her fate. I saw a junkie overcome her addiction. I saw a king make this strong resilient women a Queen. I saw a King give his Queen respect, love and a family that would stand by her as she fought her demons. I saw his brothers love and support her for her pure heart that years of abuse could not destroy. I saw a Queen become strong. I saw a man love a women and that he would do anything, go to any length for her safety and happiness. You can't have darkness without the light. You can't have King without his Queen. This is an amazing story that will suck you in and leave you begging for more.

King rules the kingdom he has built with force and fairness. He has all the wealth and power that he could ever want and he has found the woman he wants to be his queen but now he needs to convince her.

Lilith knew that owing a debt to King would require payment but she never imagined the form the payment would take.

Neither of them are innocent and both are damaged by their pasts but that only makes them more perfect for each other but stand back from the wrath of the Kingt if anyone dares to try to come between them.

This is darker than this author’s usual stories but that just makes it more delicious. I can’t want for the next installment in this series.
