Provincetown COVID cluster now includes 833 confirmed positive cases, Town Manager Alex Morse says

The Provincetown Fourth of July weekend COVID cluster continues to grow as Town Manager Alex Morse reported 833 confirmed positive cases.

Town Manager Morse said out of these new cases, “501 are Massachusetts residents, 210 of which reside in Provincetown. The remainder of individuals who tested positive reside in other states.”

Seven hospitalizations have been reported from the cluster and no deaths have been reported.

“It is important to note that the case data are cumulative and do not represent the number of people with active cases of COVID-19, or the number of cases currently hospitalized,” said Morse.

Since Provincetown cases have begun to surge, Cape Cod health officials have issued a public health advisory including an indoor mask mandate.

Popular Provincetown bars and restaurants are requiring patrons to show proof of vaccination before entry.

This update in Provincetown cases comes off the heels of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated COVID safety guidelines.

Within the guidelines, CDC urged people to get vaccinated as soon as possible due to the vaccine’s ability to help prevent severe COVID symptoms and hospitalizations.
