New York City's new public park that hovers over the Hudson River is officially open, and in it, Fermob's iconic Bistro chairs. Little Island, designed by Thomas Heatherwick's studio, is nestled in Manhattan's Lower West Side and has been designed as a haven for people and wildlife, a green oasis that will have three new performance venues ready for fun in the sun this summer.

The park features a recreation area that is complete with food trucks and shaded spaces for guests to retreat to - here you'll find Fermob chairs and tables to accommodate ultimate comfort. Under the design direction of Heatherwick Studio designers, Fermob created custom Bistro Chair and table designs.

"Our team chose the Fermob Bistro chair because of its simple elegance, rich history, and ability to be customized in a range of vibrant colors. The chair has also been widely used in other New York parks such as the high line," said Paul Westwood, a designer for the project at Heatherwick Studios.

We know that Fermob's take on color is unique, with a range of 24 exclusive colors, through which they communicate their typical French Joie de Vivre. For this project, which blossoms right after a year of full lockdown in the City, the multi-colored slats designed by Heatherwick studio come as a tribute to the ever-changing nature throughout the seasons. Even though NYers may be acquainted with the shape of this iconic staple, they will enjoy the discovery of such a unique design.

Fermob developed the Bistro range from the original model that was patented in 1889, since then, this simple collection continues to burst with joy and has lost none of its charm and authenticity!

The distinctive chairs and the 10 table formats that mix and match are a typical French style that has won over fans in Times Square, Bryant Park, and now Little Island in New York.
