2022 Inspiring Hope WalkJeff Everson

Team Laci

Laci was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor on May 2, 2022 after a mass next to the base of her tail became abcessed.   Two days later, she received her first chemotherapy treatment at VCA in Middleton, WI to shrink the tumor.  After four treatments over the course of four weeks, the tumor had shrunk enough that Laci could receive a newly approved drug - Stelfonta - injected directly into the tumor.  We were hopeful that one treatment would obliterate the cancer cells and she would be good to go.  Unfortunately, a few weeks later, Laci developed another tumor, and we were back to VCA for a second Stelfonta injection.  This treatment caused a 1 1/2 x 3 inch open wound that simply needed to heal on its own.  Sadly, yet another tumor has formed exactly where the original one did.  Laci's future in uncertain at this point, but no matter what the outcome of her cancer story, she will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
