CC Buffalo Community and Resource Liaison VISTA

Catholic Charities of Buffalo, NY is the most comprehensive human service provider serving the eight counties of Western York without regard to age, gender, race or religious affiliation. Catholic Charities understands that the best hope for the future is optimum emotional, mental and physical health for all. Catholic Charities works to empower individuals, children and families to achieve and maintain meaningful and healthy lives within their communities. As a primary advocate for those in need, particularly the most vulnerable and those without a voice, Catholic Charities assesses and meets specific needs of our community members. The expertise and compassion of its staff, a continued focus on positive outcomes and the ability to change as needs change are agency hallmarks. This VISTA position is a part of Catholic Charities USA’s Family Strengthening Program, a national intermediary project. As a member, you will meet virtually with VISTA Leaders and other VISTAs serving throughout the country, all focused on alleviating poverty. Most people are not aware of the vast number of services and programs that Catholic Charities provides. The VISTA will build upon existing programs and agency resources to streamline processes to ensure programs are interconnected and ensure all clients are fully supported. Much of the work of the VISTA is to establish (or improve in some cases) systems for referrals and inventory. Once those systems are built, they will be embedded within the programs for existing staff to use. The VISTA will establish relationships and infrastructure within the parishes, schools, and communities. Once established, parish volunteers or district offices staff will be identified to continue connections between the agency and the community.
