Egypt Hosts Arab Stamp Exhibition 2024

Egypt, represented by Egypt Post, is hosting the Arab Stamp Exhibition on January 5-7 at the historic post building in Attaba, under the aegis of the Arab Telecommunications and Information Council of Ministers (ATICM) of the League of Arab States (LAS).

The exhibition is open to Egyptian citizens and philatelists. More than 16 exhibitors representing postal operators in Arab countries are participating in the exhibition, in addition to more than 25 exhibiting philatelists and members of the Philatelic Society of Egypt.

The Arab Stamp Exhibition offers an ideal platform to showcase diverse cultures through a collection of unique and vintage postage stamps. This event plays a crucial role in fostering communication and strengthening ties among participating Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Libya, and Mauritania. Each nation will present a curated assortment of stamps that vividly depict its rich heritage and culture, creating a distinctive experience for both exhibition visitors and philatelists.

Among the participants, Egypt Post will feature an exceptional collection of postage stamps that chronicle Egypt's achievements in modern history. These stamps serve as a testament to technological advancements, incorporating QR codes for an immersive experience. This innovative approach allows stamp holders to creatively explore and learn about the occasion in a modern and engaging manner.

Hosting this exhibition underscores Egypt's pioneering role in the realm of postage stamps. As the first Arab and African country to release a postage stamp in 1866, Egypt holds a significant historical position in this domain. The issuance followed the United Kingdom, which introduced the world's inaugural stamp in 1840. This legacy reflects Egypt's longstanding commitment to philately and its influential contribution to the global history of postage stamps.

Additionally, hosting the exhibition aligns with Egypt Post's ongoing efforts to foster and cultivate the stamp collection hobby in both Egypt and the wider Arab region. This initiative reflects Egypt Post's commitment to promoting philately as a meaningful and enriching pursuit, encouraging individuals in Egypt and across the Arab world to engage with and appreciate the art and history encapsulated in stamp collections.
