Welcome to the April e-newsletter! Save the date for the 2023 ANZCA Clinical Trials Network (CTN) Strategic Research Workshop now, which will be held from 3-6 August 2023 in Coogee, New South Wales. The CTN call for abstracts is now open.

Program highlights

Some program highlights include:

  • New concepts in clinical trials session featuring topics on; consumer engagement by Ms Sophie Wallace (Vic), registry trials by Dr Doug Campbell (NZ), adaptive platform trials by Professor Steven Webb (WA), and how to do larger and smarter randomised trials by keynote speaker Professor Duminda Wijeysundera (Canada).
  • CTN networking and trials information session featuring brief trial updates from our trial teams while delegates enjoy their lunch (all delegates welcome).
  • 'Using observational data sets to explore causation: How to make your Directional Acyclic Graphs (DAG) workshop' facilitated by Professor Andrew Davidson (Vic) and Professor Jamie Sleigh (NZ).
  • 'CTN late breaking trials' session featuring first-hand results from ENIGMA, PADDI and RELIEF sub-studies.

 

 

$A2.9 million for research study

 

The Sugammadex, neostigmine and postoperative pulmonary complications (SNaPP) study has been awarded funding from the Australian Medical Research Future Fund to investigate the reversal of muscle relaxant drugs after general anaesthesia in 3500 patients undergoing surgery.

Abstracts now open for the CTN Workshop

 

Join us in Coogee, New South Wales from 3-6 August 2023 for the 15th Annual The call for abstracts is now open and registration will open in May 2023 after the ASM.

 

Program highlights

Some program highlights include:

  • A showcase of recent achievements, including updates on current clinical trials and research activities.
  • The plenary program and interactive sessions will run from Friday 4 August to Sunday 6 August and will be inclusive for all delegates.
  • Welcome networking reception at the newly renovated Shutters Bar and Terrace overlooking Coogee Beach on Friday 4 August.
  • Conference dinner at the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club on Saturday 5 August.
  • A networking dinner for members of the Anaesthesia Research Coordinators Network on Thursday 3 August.
  • A start-up meeting for the newly funded

Clinical trials update and ASM networking session

CTN pilot grant recipients and how to apply

 

Congratulations to the recipients of 2022 and 2023 CTN pilot grants. Check out our to view the recipients and learn how to apply in the next round.

 

The deadline for the 2024 pilot grant round is 5pm (AEDT) Monday 9 October 2023.

CTN trial cake bake off

 

The annual bake off competition will take place on Monday 22 May to coincide with International Clinical Trials Day celebrations. Pencil in morning or afternoon tea with your colleagues and get ready to bake! The competition is open to members listed on the Anaesthesia Research Coordinators Network directory, with the competition guidelines available

 

 

International Clinical Trials Symposium

 

The will return on November 27 – 29, Park Hyatt Melbourne for a three-day Symposium. There will be engaging talks and a chance to network with some of the most innovative and influential minds in healthcare and clinical research from across the globe. Early bird registration will open soon.
