An annual ocean-themed film festival in Húsavík

Film is one of the most effective ways of conveying the reality, complexity and emotion of the ocean. We work with Húsavík Whale Museum to hold an annual ocean-themed film festival every summer. Submit your film below!

We first held the festival in 2021 and the event has grown each year since, in terms of both the number of attendees and the number of submissions. In 2023, we also began hosting an online version of the event, allowing a global audience for the first time. We accept all ocean-related films, with topics ranging from wildlife conservation to sailing adventures – we are always amazed by the variety and creativity of submissions. Each year, we give awards to the best short and feature-length films in Nordic, international and student categories. Check out our page on Film Freeway!
