Why 90% Of Anglers Don’t Catch As Many Fish As They Should

This is why anglers don’t catch as many fish as they should!!

Most people don’t want to talk about this.

But Guides and Pros alike will tell you the same thing.

Let’s get into it!

Pro anglers and Guides will tell you others don’t catch nearly as many fish as they should because they can’t get the lure or bait where it needs to be to catch fish.

This has everything to do with casting accuracy.

Your gear, lure color, rod, reel, or anything else really doesn’t matter if you can’t get the lure where the fish are.

One of the first and easiest ways to correct this is with a hula-hoop.

Yup, a hula-hoop.

Place it out in the yard, a local park, or field and practice casting to it.

Walk 40 feet away from the hoop and try casting your lure into it.

Another factor to be mindful of is WHERE you are casting.

Don’t just cast out in random areas.

Be intentional with your casts looking for signs of life or structure that will hold predatory fish.

A positive mindset is key. Fail forward. See a failures as an opportunity to improve. You can be negative and be your worst enemy or you can be positive and be your own hero. Thank you Pat for pointing out the mental benefits of being positive.

Agree 100% with what you are saying. The biggest issue I have in my accuracy is changing from one rod to another. It usually takes me two or three casts to dial in the next rod and lure/weight combination.

OK Pat, you got me pegged. Did I miss a part on what’s best to put on your line when you practice? I would think nothing with hooks to catch in the grass. Maybe wrong, thoughts. I thinking a teardrop bank sinker…

As Golf Instructor Butch Harmon (taught Woods, Els, Adam Scott) famously said…”If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time”. Accuracy is critical.

I visualize a clock and cast to a number on the clock.
