Ms. Kent, I wanted more of Katie and Patrick. Does she get to be a mom. Do they get married? I hope all is revealed in the next book? I absolutely loved this story. James and that Jon guy are douche$. Patrick is wonderful. Katie deserved to find her true love. Mia is a doll. I loved how she tried to sell the positives of her dad to Katie. The speed dating scene was hilarious. Then the restaurant switch and dump was priceless.

Katie Gallagher is the person to go to if you want your wedding to go off without a hitch. She's used her wedding-protection skills on behalf of rock stars, A-listers, princes, high society, and political leaders. Her own romantic life, however, needs a relationship protector. She gravitates towards older, powerful, affluent men, but she's finally had enough of being relegated to arm candy. She wants the true love she protects for her clients, so she's now looking for a different kind of man.

On the way to a client meeting, Katie and Patrick have whatever is the opposite of a meet-cute and get off on whatever is worse than the wrong foot. Setting aside everything that went catastrophically wrong, Katie behaves professionally, mostly. Patrick Cooper is the bride’s father, so Katie will keep a professional distance and interact with Patrick only as much as the wedding planning requires.

Can we please talk about Patrick? Father of the bride, self-made man, highly specialized skillset, widely respected, mature man, and widower of three years. But when he meets Katie? This suave, sophisticated, man-about-town turns into a bumbling middle-school boy trying to ask the pretty girl to the eight-grade dance. The more he tries, the worse he makes things, and he's so freaking endearing in the process! I was cheering him on hoping that even if he couldn’t get it right Katie would see through to his beautiful heart.

Oh my stars y'all, this one is an entertaining, phenomenal read from the first page to the last. Katie and Patrick are so relatable, and their budding romance is charming and authentic. I devoured this in one sitting and hated for it to end. As romcoms go, this delightful, humorous, heartfelt story is one of my all-time favorites. Start reading this one right away, and let Katie and Patrick run away with your heart.

Oh how I flove a new story from the talented and quirky mind of Julia Kent.

I am so loving this new series, I love being introduced to new characters and seeing beloved past characters making cameos.

This is the story of Katie and Patrick. As a vintage gal myself, I love the premise that no matter what your age, you can still have smexy times, you can still feel the promise of a new love and you can still live.

Kate and Patrick's meet-cute is one for the record books! I absolutely loved it and laughed quite hard.

Kate is a girl boss, even when her personal life is bit of a sh*t-storm. She has a type and she wants to try to break it, but when the silver fox that is Patrick comes into her world. Well, hold tight.

Patrick is all the good things you want in a hero, he is swoony and I love his naiveté when it comes to the world and his daughter.

As with all of Ms. Kent’s stories, you get heart, heat, and hilarity in a beautiful backdrop of the art world.

You're always guaranteed a laugh from Julia Kent's work and we get plenty of them in this latest book!

If you've read the previous book then you will have met Katie, the co-owner of Wedding Protectors and this is when she meets the delicious Patrick.

Patrick, father of the bride, very suave and enticing, 15 years older and starts their meeting of by stealing her UBER 🤦🏻‍♀️

It's a fun read, some bittersweet moments, lots of giggles and I could honestly read umpteen more chapters on Katie and Patrick!!!

*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.

this is a 2.5 stars. the H was a widower and he never stop comparing the h to his late wife. it was tiring and also it never felt like he loved the h. Plus, there was a yucky scene where he was sleepy and thought the h was his late wife and started to snuggle her and make moves. Lost my interested after that!

I absolutely love a great age gap story. Even better still when it's a rom com. My biggest fear with this one was Katie ending up with HE who shall not be named lol. After many Shopping stories, you would think that I'd soften towards James but...not happening. In any case. I loved the meet-cute that wasn't really a meet-cute. There were, as always, some truly hilarious moments but there were also some deeper, serious, soul searching moments for both Katie and Patrick. When things can go wrong in a wedding, Wedding Protectors are there to help, but what happens when the things that go wrong are their fault.

Never Fall For The Bride’s Father is the second book in the Whatever It Takes series by Julia Kent. “No catastrophe can faze wedding protector Katie Gallagher, but she's steering clear of her own HEA. Love is her job. Not her destiny. So when she falls for silver fox and self-made millionaire Patrick Cooper, she breaks a rule so taboo, it doesn’t technically exist: Never fall for the bride’s father.”

I love this author and I love this series. The Wedding Protectors handle all sorts of crazy wedding mishaps. Julia Kent is the Queen of the RomCom and has a knack for creating wacky scenarios and hilarious conversations. The meet cute in this story was when Patrick tried to share the Katie’s Uber, but instead managed to accidentally hijack it, leaving Katie in a downpour. Feeling guilty, Patrick sent his driver to transport Katie to wherever she needed to go. Turned out they were going to the same meeting, and the Patrick tried to ask her on date while she was soaked to the skin and livid. I was laughing so hard so many times during the reading of this book that my son thought I was crying. This is a contemporary romantic comedy which incorporates multiple tropes including Age Gap, Slow Burn, Silver Fox, Widower/Single Dad, Enemies To Lovers, Workplace/Forbidden Romance, and Wedding. Patrick Cooper is delicious and Katie Gallagher is wonderful and both are so deserving of love. There are cameo appearances from a number of characters from the author’s previous books. The secondary characters for this series are a hoot. This was another definite five star read for me and if you enjoy Rom Com, then I suspect you will enjoy it too. I am voluntarily writing this review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Julia Kent. I cannot wait for book 3, Never Date the Minister.

Never Fall for the Bride's Father is the second book in the Whatever It Takes series. It can be read as a standalone book, but it is related through the heroine's co-owned business to the first book.

Wedding Protectors is the business started by Kari and Katie. They are not the wedding planners, but rather smooth over any potential problems with famous attendees, family problems that might be an issue at the wedding, security and overall plan and execute a perfect wedding no matter what gets thrown at them. The first book was Kari's story. This book is Katie's.

Katie has finally said no to James McCormick about being his last-minute date, somewhere in the world, in a relationship that is going nowhere. James is used to having his way and less than happy. Katie is both sad and proud of herself. Minutes later, she is getting into her uber drive when another man steps out of the rain and into her car. Patrick flashes his money and charm around like he is also used to getting his way whenever he wants it, and it pushes all Katie's wrong buttons. Patrick feels bad about Katie getting out into the downpour after she leaves the ride rather than sharing it with him. His driver, who was late, goes to pick her up. Turns out, they were headed to the same meeting about Patrick's daughter's wedding. These two keep rubbing each other the wrong way for a while, and yet are oddly attracted as well.

I don't want to spoil any of the fun, but they make a great couple of mature adults, and it is fun seeing them work through their not-always-smooth relationship. As always, Julia Kent brings us laughter with a couple sad moments to appreciate the happy ones and a love story to remember. Enjoy the journey of Katie and Patrick.

This book is a delightful addition to the Whatever It Takes series, and it's clear from the first few pages that it's something special. The characters and the storyline kept me engaged throughout, and I found myself smiling and laughing as I got to know Katie and Patrick.

Katie Gallagher, the wedding protector, is a character who knows how to handle any wedding catastrophe, but she's steering clear of her own happily ever after. When she falls for Patrick Cooper, the father of the bride she's helping, she breaks a rule that doesn't technically exist: never fall for the bride's father. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and the author does a fantastic job of building tension and anticipation.

Julia Kent's writing is witty and engaging, and she has a knack for creating hilarious conversations and scenarios. The meet-cute between Katie and Patrick is a highlight, with Patrick accidentally hijacking Katie's Uber, leaving her in a downpour. The story is full of heartwarming moments, such as Patrick's frequent silent conversations with his daughter, Clemmie, as he prepares for her wedding.

While the story is a bit predictable at times, the characters and their interactions make up for it. The romance is sweet and heartfelt, and the author does a great job of balancing the humor and the emotional moments. Overall, this is a fun and enjoyable read that I highly recommend to all romance lovers. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series goes next.

5 Star Review Never Fall For The Bride’s Father (Whatever It Takes #2) by Julia Kent

Having read the first book in Julia Kent’s latest Whatever It Takes series I could not wait to read Never Fall For The Bride’s Father. From the first chapter I was drawn into the story that Ms. Kent wove about Katie Gallagher and father of the bride, Patrick Cooper.

If there is one thing I know when I read a book by this author, I know I am in for an entertaining read that will have me laughing out loud on occasion.

This was a well written, at times hilarious, yet emotional story that ticked all the boxes for me. I knew from the first moment we met Katie that the man that captured her heart would need to be someone special and that is certainly Patrick.

From the moment Patrick and Katie met I knew their story was going to be special and it was. We all know how good Ms. Kent is at humor but she really captured the emotions of loss in such a way that was realistic as well as respectful.

So glad to finally see the back of James, as I am not a huge fan. This is one of my favorite books from Julia Kent and that is saying something.

Cute May-December Romance

In Never Fall for the Bride’s Father, Julia Kent introduces readers to Katie and Patrick. He is a sweet widower, and she is one of the owners of Wedding Protectors Inc. No, they don’t plan the weddings, they are there to make sure the wedding goes off without a hitch. Something I’ve never really heard of and found interesting.

From the start I liked both characters. Patrick was so sweet and scared of falling for somebody new, while Katie was all business and was darn good at it. With a horrible first meeting, the rest of the book was how they were going to right the ship with so much wrong surrounding them. I felt for Katie as she wanted to be as professional as possible, however didn’t want to let a catch like Patrick slip through her fingers.

The book is well written and is quite a mixture of love and chaos all the way around. Along with Patrick and Katie, we met the employees of Wedding Protectors Inc, as well as Patrick’s daughter Mia, the bride to be. This is a low steam and low angst read and as a second book, does well as a standalone with a little epilogue.

I read the first book in this new series by Julia Kent and could not wait to read this next book. This book hooked me in the first chapter as all of her books do! Katie owns with her partner a wedding protection company. She is on her way to meet a client in the pouring rain, when her Uber arrives and as she is getting ready to get in it a man is doing the same and ends up taking her ride. She is furious, wet and very unhappy when she arrives at such meeting. Meeting Mia, her client, who introduces her father, Patrick, the Uber stealing man and a widower, she composes herself to give the best of what she does to her client. Despite a rough meeting Patrick is drawn to Katie and Katie not so much and he is the bride's father along with her romantic life hasn't been good. We have some funny scenes that will make you laugh out loud and swoony scenes that have you saying aww. As I kept reading I kept thinking will Katie and Patrick get together, cause they have chemistry, will Katie get the romantic relationship she wants but most of all will she get her happily ever after. This book has all I look for in a book and I can not wait to see what comes next in this series.

I've fallen for another Julia Kent series. After her business partner and best friend, Kari found her HEA (Never Plan a Billionaire's Wedding), Katie decides to finally end her "casual", long standing relationship with James McCormick, a much older wealthy man, and a familiar character from the author's Shopping series. Due to a unfortunate misunderstanding, Katie gets off on the wrong foot when she meets the MMC, Patrick, when he happens to be the father of her new wedding client. Patrick tries several ways to make amends, but Katie grows more livid with each attempt. She can't help comparing Patrick to James and is trying to avoid ending up in another non-commited relationship. At the advice of his daughter, he decides to back off, but fate has other ideas when they continue to cross paths outside of the wedding planning.
I loved Patrick's character and his devotion to his daughter and the memory of his deceased wife. I LOVED the cameo appearances and cameo mentions of characters from Kent's other series. Hurray Julia Kent! This was a fun read with emotional memories of the past blending with the present.

Never fall for the bride’s father AKA the Uber stealer and wedding protector story! Katie has been struggling with her “relationship” with James, CEO of Anterdec a lot older than her and compartmentlized dater and had decided to end it. As she leaves for a new client meeting, she catches an Uber and is surpised when a man steals it from her. Patrick is a successful art expert, widower and late for an appointment to meet his daughter’s wedding security experts, when he runs into Kattie’s Uber thinking it is the one his assistant ordered for him. Their first encou ter left an impression on both of them, for Katie: he is an entitled businessman like James, for Patrick: she stears something in him and questions that it might be time for him to start living again after three and half years since his wife’s death. Funny, sexy, full of mischief story that will make you laugh out loud from the start. The Uber incident is pure Shannon and Declan moment who make an appearance, hilarious! Another winner for Julia Kent!

Never Fall for the Bride’s Father is sweet and emotional and funny and completely captivating!

Katie is just out of a toxic relationship and trying to make better decisions but her attraction to the father of her client seems more like slipping back into her usual M.O.

Patrick gets off on the wrong foot with Katie when he (maybe inadvertently) hijacks her Uber and proceeds to put his foot in his mouth at every turn after that.

“It’s life, just as it’s meant to be. Joy and sorrow, challenges and pleasures, but most of all, change and growth. Bittersweet. And if you can’t accept that, then the bitter will end up outweighing the sweet.”

This is the second book in the Whatever It Takes series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone. But if book one is anything like this story I’m really mad at myself for skipping it… I guess I have to go back and start at the beginning before the next one releases ;)

Umbrella protector

Yay. I love this third book in the Whatever It Takes series.
Julia Kent has done it again 🥰
Katie and Patrick are brilliant.
Katie is immaculate, professional, and focused. Patrick is the silver fox that won't get out of her head.
A match made in heaven.
When Patrick steals Katie's Uber, pleasant thoughts are a long way off. Late to her very important meeting and dripping wet, the last person she expects to see is her Uber thief.
Patrick can not believe he is seeing the same woman. And his good fortune in seeing her again.
I love this story. The twists and turns. The calamities that fall upon these characters.
I love the cameo mentions from other Julia Kent series, a lovely nod to her stalwart fans.
I am a long-term supporter of this author who just gets better and better. this book is a triumph, and I highly recommend it, the series and author.

If you want your wedding to go off without a hitch, call the Wedding Protectors. Katie runs wedding protectors, but is still waiting for her own happily ever after. As Katie heads for a meeting with a client, some jerk steals her Uber, leaving her on the sidewalk, in the pouring rain! As Katie arrives at the meeting, she runs into the 'jerk' and that's where life starts to get complicated.
The characters in this are so appealing and you really do root for them to make this work. Their fear, vulnerability and willingness to open up to all opportunities life may throw at them becomes evident as their story progresses and the words leap off the pages and encompass your heart like a warm blanket. Not only were the main characters relatable and lovable, the supporting characters were a great addition! This is a great addition to this series.

Katie is the best at wedding planning... specifically, she’s the best at avoiding the worst wedding disasters, since she’s always prepared & ready for anything.

Despite being great at helping other people avoid disasters, the first time she meets Patrick, it’s a disaster for many reasons...

Patrick is a widowed art dealer, & despite a weird first meeting (of course it’s a weird first meeting... this is a Julia Kent book after all!), & they end up spending time together, which could cause a bit of problems, considering how he’s the father of the bride she’s in charge of helping.

“Did I leave something at your place?”

“An empty space.”

*swoon* (+ same conversation, just a few minutes later)

“Come back to my place. Please. (...) I can show you some real beauty in the bedroom.”

*wowza*

He’s just so freaking romantic...

“Come upstairs with me... Please.”

“To see your art?”

“There is nothing up there more beautiful than you. You are the art.”

Another great book by Julia Kent, who doesn’t disappoint... Worth reading. <3

This was an emotional roller-coaster. From deep introspective moments about the nature of love and loss, to howling with laughter over the situations only the Wedding Protectors crew could get tangled up in, this book had my emotions on a yo-yo string. I loved Katie from the moment we were introduced to her in the previous book. Getting to know her in this one, only made that love deeper. Patrick was so endearingly clueless, I just wanted to hug the stuffing out of him. And the family and friends around them provided some of the best comedic gold I’ve ever read. I’ve quickly become a devoted fan of this series and I can’t wait to discover where the next book will take us.

After reading the first book in Julia Kent’s newest series I was excited for Never Fall For The Brides Father ( Whatever It Takes #2) and I wasn’t disappointed. Katie Gallagher and father of the bride, Patrick Cooper was everything I have come to expect from this very talented author.
I knew from the first few pages that I was reading something special but it was only when the characters and the smile on my face stayed with me long after reading the final word that I realised just how special this read is. I laughed, I swooned and giggled a lot as I got to know this couple and I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers.
Never Fall For The Brides Father has all the feels and it certainly ticked all my boxes. Looking forward for what’s to come in this wonderful series.

Katie and Patrick don't get off to the best start when he steals her Uber to get to a meeting for his daughter's wedding. Katie is left angry and stuck in the pouring rain. What he doesn't realize is his meeting is with Katie and her business partner Kari.

There are certainly sparks between them and they have great banter. However, she's done with dating older men and relationships that go nowhere, and knows she shouldn't fall for a client's family member. That doesn't stop real feelings from developing as they spend more time together, though.

This story has a great blend of humor, romance, and just a little drama. I have really enjoyed this series so far and this was a great read.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.

This is the second book in this incredible series, and this is Patrick and Katie’s story.
Katie is co-owner of Wedding Protective INC, who protect wedding, not plan them. Patrick is an endearing widower, and art dealer, as well as father of the bride. These two do not have the best of first meetings, due to a misunderstanding, but the sparks fly between them.
This is a well written easy to read story, with family, friendships, enemies / lovers, humor, witty banter, misunderstandings, opposites attract, palpable chemistry, romance, emotions, and love, which leads to an entertaining and captivating page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I love an age-gap/silver fox romance. I'm sure that has a lot to do with my own age-gap romance - or maybe it's just because there's something totally yummy about a silver fox. Anyway, this one is Katie and Patrick's love story, and I absolutely loved this pair. Their journey to HEA is sweet, sexy, and, in true Julia Kent form, hilarious. You can't read this book without laughing, and we can all use some of that. Needless to say, Never Fall for the Bride's Father is everything I've come to expect from Julia Kent. I thoroughly enjoyed the first Whatever It Takes romance, and this one even more so. I can't wait for the next in the series, and I'm thinking I may need to visit with this couple again while I wait.

Katie has made a career out of ensuring that other people enjoy their special day however with her romantic past she is beginning to believe that it will ever be part of her future. This is only reinforced when the uber she has order is confiscated by a man she would normally be attracted to

Patrick doesn’t make the best first impression on the woman who is planning his daughter’s wedding which is quite unfortunate as he is very attracted to her. Every attempt he makes to show her how he feels doesn’t turn out as planned which only makes their interactions entertaining.

Patrick is quite the charmer and values Katie for the fierce woman she is. The characters draw you in, the humor will bring a smile to your and it still has all the feels.

Ageless

Patrick Cooper is a well-established, widower facing the preparations for his daughter's wedding. He's CEO of Recherche Associates, renown for confirming art provenance, but he's nervous about being up to the challenge of his daughters nuptials. Enter Wedding Protectors to help insure Mia and Joe's perfect day. Katie Gallagher is co-owner of Wedding Protectors and her first meet with Patrick is anything but cute. Despite their rocky start, Patrick is determined to convince Katie he is a good guy. In his own self-effacing, understated way Patrick provides Katie with many reasons to realize he's a good guy. But Katie just removed herself from her long-term, casual relationship with James McCormick, a man more than three decades her senior. At 51, Patrick is 15 years older than Katie, and she's worried her attraction to older men is a bad precedent for her life. Patrick is a wonderful, patient and resolute man. His dedication to his new love for Katie is absolutely awesome. He proves his maturity is the very reason Katie has found her life partner. Brilliant plot, vivid descriptions, charismatic characters and hilarious situations make this another flawless Julia Kent masterpiece.

I Adore these Wedding Protectors Stories!!

Patrick Cooper is doing all the wrong things for all the right reasons (not disappointing his daughter). But the one left out in the pouring rain is Katie Gallagher, co-owner of Wedding Protectors. Her latest client Mia is the daughter of the jerk who made her late and stole her uber.

Patrick is a widow, and has not moved on, until now. He has no idea how to date or woo in today’s reality. Full of dating faux pas, angry punctuation, lemonade dresses and many romantic gestures.

A thoroughly entertaining adventure!

Couldn't put it down

I really enjoy Ms. Kent's style of writing. She his one of my favorites. Things move along well, but there is enough character and story development that you feel like you know the characters. Fun storytelling without too much detail. If anything she could take it deeper, but I can't complain about the pace of the story . it kept my interest enough that it was difficult to put down. Good series so far can't wait for the next one! Interesting epilogue more sexy heat if you want it, but don't need to read to finish off the book. I hadn't seen that before.

This was the first sweet romance I've read with an age gap and I liked it! Katie and Patrick had a lot of chemistry and I liked the timeline of their romance along with all the bumps and turns that happened!

Patrick's relationship with his daughter was so sweet and I loved how they connected over him dating again rather than her freaking out. I also loved Katie's respect for the love of his first wife, it was a very adult mature way to handle any negative feelings!

I'm so glad we finally got to see Katie's happily ever after especially once she broke up with James!

Julia Kent’s new series, Whatever It Takes, is going strong. This time it’s Katie Gallagher’s turn for romance. After years as one of James McCormick’s pieces of “arm candy”, she’s determined to break the cycle of falling for successful older men who throw money at problems, and who don’t appreciate or value her. When she has a run in with a dashing older Uber thief, she’s even more convinced that she needs to avoid her usual type.
Patrick Cooper is a highly respected art authenticator with a very successful company. A widower, he’s happily looking forward to his only child, Mia’s, wedding. Worried that he’s going to be late for an important meeting about said wedding, he ends up hijacking a most attractive woman’s Uber. Although he offers to share, or pay for another, the irate woman refuses. The last he sees of her is in the pouring rain. And then he finds her umbrella on the floor of the car.
This romance is wonderful! The characters are both likable and relatable. Even as Patrick starts to open up to the idea moving forward, his frequent silent conversations with his Clemmie as he prepares for their daughter’s wedding are heart warming. Even as Katie learns more about Patrick as a father and widower, she fights the high voltage attraction she feels for him. (Sigh) You’re really going to love this one!
